When it gets to be a sort of reflex, it barely takes any time at all, then I can open all of the related pages with a single click.

I find making bookmarks for my projects help reduce the physical and mental clutter a lot. Really solid for school projects where I end up having to do a lot of research.
I started opening my tabs in incognito mode to keep my browsing history clean. It helps. I don’t need old stack overflow links for a problem I’ve solved coming up randomly.
I have the opposite problem. My RAM is not happy about this.

Wish I could go back to Chrome, but ad blockers are ad blockers.
I also moved because of the ad block stuff, but honestly it feels exactly the same to me. There's an extra step when logging into Google for the first time each day but that's about it.
Same reason I moved; ad blockers are not optional for me. I compulsively avoid adverts in all aspects of life. I hate them. They're like animals, so I block them like animals.
Except for the lesser integration with Google services (and the far more niche problem that the colour picker is worse in stable diffusion), it hasn't really done anything wrong to make me miss chrome.

Can't remember the last time I've had to open multiple tabs to resolve a bug ever since LLMs came into the picture.
Exactly my thought, now i just move onto the bug that AI introduces but playing whack a mole feels a lot more rewarding and quicker than being stumped for hours.

This happened to me just the other day and I agree. That felt better than I have felt in a long time. I just looked at my laptop and said "I BEAT YOU" over and over like a fool.
Then the laptop looked back at you and said "segmentation fault (core dumped), sucker".

True story: Last week I spent 3 hours trying to re-find a page I had visited, for additional information on an obscure programming question I was on 3 months ago. Even though I had a precise unqiue string... no search engine could find it (even though it was a Microsoft DevBlog with some pages indexed), and AIs that said they were actively checking the site said it wasn't there either. It was.
Don't believe me? There is in fact one page on the internet that tells you the details how to use the undocumented EM_TRANSFORMMATH message for the Windows RichEdit control to set up automatic math zones. Have fun! Maybe a commercial AI can get it; the free ones for Claude, DeepSeek, ChatGPT, didn't know; GitHub copilot hallucinated the wrong value for the message and wrong name for the wParam.
My latest job sent me a mac with 8gb ram initially. I made quite the fuss.

Opening different tabs to figure out coding problems feels so 2022. These days joy comes from closing a glacial 20’ long ChatGPT thread that’s become almost unresponsive.
I just solved a coding problem using ChatGPT after one week of debugging and trying out theories and even setting up discussions with other developers. And all it took was typing in a coherent description of the problem and answering a few prompts. It helped me close the week with a feeling of accomplishment but also scared me about how much faster we are becoming obsolete.
My favorite is the bug that I chased for a week that not even chatgpt could solve. It was a spelling error. Every damn time
I don't believe in ChatGPT's ability to write code, but by god does it have a good chance of knowing the answer to every question I have.
I have been using it indiscriminately to write simple bash scripts like reading the file name in a folder recursively, removing the suffix and writing them to a file, sorting them, filtering them. A script like this would have taken me days to write using StackiOverflow but now it’s just seconds. It’s been a blessing so far.
I would refrain from letting it do more than a method or two.
I do a lot of C#, for over a decade, but every now and then I need to do some stuff with reflection and it is always a hard slog to work it out as it is so rare the need to actually use it. ChatGPT is now my best friend to solve my reflection requests.
Roughly two out of three times I ask chatgpt to solve something, it hallucinates (E.g. APIs that don't work the way it says.) or lacks internal consistency (e.g. step 1 and step 3 wouldn't work together, but with a small modification it's fine.)
It's what I imagine the ghosts felt like in Lord of the Rings when their oath was fulfilled.
