Do I just have a better PC than I realize? I've been using intelliJ for years and it's lightning fast, never had issues loading or building anything even while I have music playing, sometimes a video rendering in the background, etc

you are finally done with the node_modules ?
It should be node modules lol
Out of those two, node is just slow but works fine. For gradle I had to assign more memory in order to not freeze my computer. Even then gradle seems to be much slower.
