The degree to which law enforcement expects people to remain calm while having their freedom threatened is WILD.
Its like they hold the community to a higher standard. Cops can lose their shit over the tiniest thing, but the average joe is expected to put up with all their bullshit without question
I hate how they act like their job is to police your emotions. If he listened to anything the young man said, he would understand why he is upset.

I've said this for years. I firmly believe that resisting arrest without violence should not be a crime.
I'm not saying that hitting a cop is okay. Punching someone is never okay. That's assault.
But, it's not reasonable to expect someone to not do so much as squirm when you're trying to cuff them and possibly applying an uncomfortable or painful hold.
I'm also not saying that resisting shouldn't come with natural consequences. If you run from the police, you might get tackled. Or you might get tased. Sucks to be you, play stupid games and whatnot.
But, you shouldn't hit someone with an additional charge because they didn't just passively submit while you were trying to restrain them. Fuck that noise.
It’s not even that. Regular ppl have to know how to interact with cops cause we don’t know what kinda day they’re having or cause they literally don’t know how to act. It’s like encountering a shady street dog. Is it gonna be cool? Is it gonna sniff u out just to get close and bite? Is it gonna shoot u cause an acorn fell from a tree and somehow sounded like gunshot to em? Leave u in the back seat of a car on train tracks to get hit by a train? I wonder if there’s a stat that shows if they actually make anything better or worse?

He’s absolutely correct, protocol is to put the package at the door and take a pic. He’s in uniform. He’s in an Amazon van. The photo is to confirm package was left so they can’t come back and say it never got there.

To be clear, I’ve never experienced anything remotely close to this, but if I had, I could not imagine being any more reasonable than this man. I would have the same tone, and I would never have been in handcuffs. If anything, I feel more confident that I could’ve had that woman’s husband in handcuffs before I ever was.
(I may have been the first to call the police though, if everyone else called after he had already touched me & I felt my job was on the line). But I’d be willing to bet money that the chances are higher that I could’ve had that dude in handcuffs than this driver NOT being in handcuffs, regardless of who called first.
Edit: the real kicker for me here is how seemingly reasonable these police officers are being. It’s not one of the many examples of the extremes, and that’s why it hits me so hard, personally. It’s the fact that it could be argued as a grey area, even though it isn’t. This is just wrong.

Then she jumps in the van and steals other people’s packages so he tries to drive off while her husband detains him until the cops come and the delivery driver ends up in cuffs. Sounds about white.

Yeah, I’ve been outside when they delivered my package and they’ve still needed to take the pic. Never had a problem with letting them cuz I know it’s part of their job. This isn’t a new thing!
I've been outside my door as a delivery came. I offered in a friendly way to lose with the parcel. Driver said he'd get sacked for photographing a customer. I had to apologise and let the man get on with his day.

Because we all know that delivery drivers work to time constraints and taking pictures of the delivery is normal. He doesn’t have TIME for this daft situation, how long was he delayed at this point? How many deliveree targets would he miss? How would that impact his job?

I use to work at USPS delivering in plain clothes before they gave me a uniform and profiling was pretty common in wealthy neighborhoods. I didn't get it as bad as the man in the clip but there was always ppl outside their homes watching everything I did .

I interact with these people all the time, it's absolutely wild. You have to be calm though and stand your ground firmly. I use the line "when you ordered, you called me here. Please stop" and it works 99.9% of the time.
If you start cussing and freaking out, they'll call the cops and your boss to Karen and try and get you fired and arrested. That is gold to them.
Just make a puzzled face and say: "I too wonder how my online orders magically appear at my front door." And then finish the delivery and leave.
