The thing is, the original version of Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag includes none of these features, with The Hidden One and many others in the comments believing the only reasonable explanation for their addition is that the remake is indeed real and likely coming soon.
A remake would have a separate appid and associated store page so none of these changes would apply to the existing product or it's store page, the same would also likely apply to any remaster due to the potential changes in requirements that would bring. The only legitimate reason for updating the existing store page would be if the current version of the game was getting updated which wouldn't at all be a stretch for Ubisoft.
I'll save you a click, Ubisoft has added Steam's new accessibility categories to the game's page.
Huh... a Black Flag remake wasn't on my radar. I guess there are VERY few ways Ubislop can get any money from me, but this is one of the few chances they have.
Assuming they don't fuck it up.
Don’t underestimate Ubisoft’s ability to screw things up.
Well they are remaking it on the new engine so I don't have that much hope for it
Oof
Now with micro transactions and loot boxes
And the game has terrible performance
If true would this remake be available with a update if you already have black flag or be a new game to purchase ?
They aren't going to give you a full on remake for free lmaooo
It's ubi... It will be full purchase with no discount for owners of the original
They'll probably do the $70 or $80 price as well.
It's Ubisoft. In two to three years it'll be 90% off.
No, they'll delist the old game so you can only buy the remaster/remake (which will be priced like a new game of course).
Companies like Ubisoft only want money, making it a free upgrade it's impossible for them
Just out of curiosity, what do you guys still need to pay if you want to buy Black Flag in the present?
I'm thinking about buying this game before the summer sales end. Is it still worth buying in 2025, or should I just wait for the remake version and "finish" my backlog in the meantime?
Imho, it's not worth waiting for two reasons: first, the original game still looks, sounds and plays very well.. second, the remake will surely cost more than the original. I don't know if they will be able to improve the game visually that much (just look at Ezio's collection, the improvements are minimal and actually take away from the original art style) without sacrificing too much performance or by introducing new bugs instead of fixing existing ones.
Thanks for your insight, mate. I'll buy it and put it at the top of my backlog :)
Put some achievements in AC2 and Brotherhood. You will get huge numbers playing the entire AC2 trilogy, for minimal effort.
This is a nothingburger imo. Ubisoft updated almost all Assassin's Creed storepages with the new accessibility feature information at the same time, not just Black Flag. Furthermore, saying all of these listed ones are new is a lie, the game has audio sliders, supports stereo and surround audio and allows you to save anywhere, so four of these are already in the game.
Also remakes features would be listed in remakes page, as it would be a separate game. (Opposite to what article claims)
These are just the scheduled Ubisoft ragebait for driving traffic. Redditors eat that shit up.
Is it too much to ask for a good gaming publication these days? Even PCgamer has more articles about Wordle than actual PC games anymore. The state of games journalism is worse than the state of PC gaming.
Yeah it's gotten really bad. It's literally just a hand full search queries to figure out that this whole thing has no real substance, but as long as the clicks come in, the truth doesn't matter, eh? It's terrible.
it's been rumored for a long time now and often talked about in r/GamingLeaksAndRumours
Yes and there's good reason to believe it'll come sooner or later, but this isn't an indication for it. If it was, they wouldn't have set these up at the same time for almost all other Assassin's Creed games aswell. Imo this is just them filling out the new accessibility feature that Steam released a few days ago.
