Just knowing Valve people are working on this stuff is great news. Dozens of random little things, none of them a big deal on its own, but put them all together and it's huge.

Having the customer's experience suck less seems like such a no-brainer, but why couldn't any of the other pc storefronts manage it? I think that's the whole reason Steam survived while all the dozens of other guys died off. Even Steam was hot garbage at the beginning, but it got better.

So for the next rich moron looking to spend their way into competition with Steam, you're going to buy a bunch of indie studios or pay for exclusives, because that's what rich morons do. But after you do that, how about make it not suck to use your store? And you're not finished, you have to keep doing that, forever.

Don't make people have to use your store, because nobody else is selling that exclusive game. There's a lot of games, if buying your precious exclusive is painful we will ignore it and play something else instead. Make people want to use your store.

This.... is a bit ironic. Like, really lol Because YMMV. I used to not be able to go a day without 5 bot friend requests on steam trying to phish me, it only stopped when all the steam forums i posted in slowly died. Among other things that sour my taste when using steam, my experience with steam sucks compared to GoG, or Epic. Sometimes I just want my launcher to launch games and not be a nuisance. Its also been decades: every other company has rolling maintenance, yet steam still has strict weekly maintenance that shuts the entire service down (screwing over any games using Steam for multiplayer)

Has CD Projekt bought a bunch of indie studios, or paid for exclusives? Or are they not a competitor to steam? Because Ill be honest, there is very little to criticize gog for. They even do "piracy is a service problem and not a price problem" better than valve.

Is your Steam profile Public by chance? I'd imagine displaying what games you own or what's in your Steam inventory are a red carpet for bot-spam, because they now know your account is valuable.

I'd also imagine that services that index Steam profiles may also cause some issues too. Luckily I don't think mine's ever been indexed, because I've never let 3rd-party apps scrape my account.

It was, and i privited everything. Still got them, and hell, i still get them but its like 1 a week.

because I've never let 3rd-party apps scrape my account.

Like you have a choice in the matter. Im sure if you or i start making comments in steam forums again it'll go right back to bot spam.

Dont have that issue on other platforms.

I've left about 350 reviews on Steam (some very highly rated), and post on the Steam forums every once in a while. I think I've gotten like one bot account friend request in my 19 years on Steam (and I have 2200 games on Steam, and many inventory items).

If I had to make a guess, info on your account is probably sitting around in some databases, even if it was from a while ago. The bots probably refer to that snapshot of your account to see you have a bunch of shit, but they just need to see some recent forum activity as a nudge to begin going after you again.

Or maybe I'm just really lucky lol.

(Also: By 'Scrape', I meant take a snapshot of all the games / inventory items in your account. It's very different from just scraping a private profile's username & avatar, because all it takes is one snapshot for bots/scammers to know your account is valuable, even if you set it to Private afterwards.)

I had to go back to stable branch, steam window stutters when moved around desktop on latest beta. No idea what could be causing it.

I hope they don't cancel this or change their minds, I desperately want this feature.

I did not see that coming.
Get it. Cause before then you couldn't adjust the UI scale. So it was hard to see.

I guess my joke was too VISIONary...

Don't quit your day job! You might end up with an extremely successful career as a comedian and the world just isn't prepared for that yet.
