I found these today, and I asked two other journeymen on the job site. None of us have seen these before.
Can anyone smarter than us tell me what these are?
Thanks!
You hammer them onto rounded off bolt heads and they bite into the head as you turn it to remove the bolt. Extremely handy
They are even better when they come with am extractor, threaded back end to remove the nut or bolt removed by pushing it out. Sometimes its a real bitch without.
It's ALWAYS a bitch without an extractor.
These look like bolt extractors.
Hilok removal tool. Hiloks have a collar that shears off when tightened to the correct torque, these are an easy way to remove them. https://www.aptoolsltd.co.uk/shop/ap-16750-savi-hi-lok-collar-removal-socket-set-6-pc-sizes-25-26-28-29-36-37/
This guy aircrafts.
I love the flow of info that can be found on reddit.
If you know you know.
It is nice to share and educated the rest of us the people.
Airplane mechs are having mesmerised to be honnest. Wonder if they any pressure. I mean I can stall my car or bike and make it to the shoulder. What if I stall my plane on mechanic ?
Thanks for this input. They look pricey and useful ! . Worth to keep imo. For that one time you need them !
Bolt extractor (female), these work great for rounded off heads, but if you break the head off flush with the base, you need the male version of bolt extractors and have to drill into the bolt.
Bolt biters. For extracting damaged bolts
Bolt extractor
Outside diameter extractors. Most extractors you drill a hole down the center and drive in a left-handed twist extractor
handy
Bolt-Out. Aka lifesaver!
You use them to remove fasteners with stripped threads, like this XZN head bolt.
Pray you’ll never need to know what these are, and if you’ve needed them and haven’t had them, sorry you know the now exist. As an unofficial “farm boy” (grew up on a farm, well a couple really, but never a farm my parents owned, it was the grandparents and lot adjoining farms but that aside) I’ve dealt with many snapped bolts and rusted together parts and fully rounded nuts and bolts to wish we had these. Torches, tap outs and grinder all take more time, offer more risk for less reward than these guys. Now if all else fails those tools come back out again but these removers usually do well, especially if you give said fastener a good treatment of heat, PB and crayon
Spiral sockets , for odd shape / deformed nuts and bolts
They are bolt extra torso for stripped and rounded bolts, we call them turbo sockets.
The go to method for taking some wheel locks off if you happen to lose the key.
Good for rounded bolts and lugnuts
For rounded bolts an nut removal pound it on twist it off.
Nut extractor. Bolt extractors looks different.
if it had a hex head it's the same. it grabs what's left so it can be turned. I have a similar looking set and it works on both ends.
I'm not sure why you're getting downvotes
Bolt extractors - for rounded off bolt heads.
Perfect for when the Nutfucker3000 has done it's job.

It's not a tight-e-ner, its a round-e-ner (the original patent was wrong).
I see this one has a name too! Most belov-e-d Stanley.
Greatest name for this I've ever heard
I like Swedish Nut Lathe
That's a funny name for a hammer.
Adjustable hammer
Reminds me of a girl I dated in high school.
Not sure why but that made me laugh way more than it should have. Or perhaps just the right amount
Nutfucker 3000 😂😂😂😂

Behold the Thumb Detecting Nut Fucker. Credit to AvE.
This is the answer - if you look closely, the 'teeth' are in a 'lefty-loosey' direction.
If you turn them to the left, they'll bite into a bolt head deeper as you torque them. That's how they can extract a rounded off bolt head.
They will screw-up an intact bolt head, so don't use them on anything you want to keep functional.
Thx for that
Yep bolt or stud extractors
