How much would you pay for this 2003 Ford Ranger?

The seller’s asking $12k. it has 26k miles, no AC and it’s a single cab. Just trying to figure out how much room there is to negotiate, or if that price is actually fair for what it is

Rare doesn't always mean desirable. After paying out $12k, the next morning, there's a slow, 20 y/o cramped truck in your driveway without AC. It's not old enough to be a cool classic and it's not new enough to command top dollar. Unless you're going to put it on display and charge tickets to view it, it's not worth that kind of money.

$6k for the novelty, if that's really what you're into.

Agreed. I'd probably go 4500-5k in today's market and enjoy having a slow truck with no AC but will likely run another 250k with regular maintenance.

It’s only worth $12k to someone looking for something specifically like that. Are you? Do you want something with no AC, 4x4 and zero options? If you do then I think $12k is reasonable given its condition and mileage. It ain’t going to turn any heads and it ain’t really all that useful for most people that want to use a truck for truck things. It’s a grocery getter with a box.

They need to put down the crack pipe. For where I live, I would pay $0 because it doesn't have AC.

I'd normally pay $3,000 - $3,500 at the absolute max considering it has no AC and is a short bed single cab but since its low mileage I'd be fine with it no more than double that.

I bought one car that didnt have AC (got it fixed like 6 months afterwards).

Unless its a track-only car, there is 0%chance I would do it again.

I don't blame you. Especially when its 85 - 90+ degrees with high humidity like in my area.

You sure it’s an 03? If that’s a 03 it’s had some body work done. The front end is wrong for the year.

$12k? Even for a Tacoma that would be high

26k miles!? If it's clean and everything works the way it's supposed to, I'd try to offer 10 and see how they react. But honestly, I wouldn't lose sleep over spending 12 on that.

It would sell quick where I live because of being in the rust belt. I personally wouldn't pay no more than 2500 for it though. It's a single cab ranger so you can't really do too much with it and there's not really options and no AC

lol!!! that low mileage is doing herculean levels of heavy lifting on that price. no AC single cab short bed is undesirable and no amount of low mileage makes up for that

I paid 8000$ for a 2005 ford ranger back in 2010 with about 38000 miles(or whatever 62000 kms is in mikes), when it got wrote off in 2015, i got a cheque gor 7600$ for it, and it had 75 000 milrs on it(or 120 000 kms)

Average, they are going for about 5-6 thousand dollars for 07's and 08's with more milage. Its still a 23 year okd ranger at the end of the day. A 23 year old ranger with that low if milage means it sat a lot, and that is actually not good gor a vehicle to sit like that, so i wouldn't pay a penny over 5 grand.

I bought a 95 new 4x4 no air manual everything for 12,000. It was the most reliable vehicle I ever had went 200,000 mi with almost nothing done to it.

I might pay extra for a manual v6 4x4 extended cab. But even then nowhere close to 12k. This is probably like a 5k-6. 5k truck. But 12 is just crazy

The no AC thing aside, mileage that low on a 22 year old truck is good and can be potentially bad. All the rubber components probably dried out and will need replacing. Unless he got those miles by driving 3 miles a day to keep everything lubed up this had to have sat for a significant amount of time. Or the odometer has been tampered with.

Like anything, things are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them....which in this case will be the highest offer after the owner gets frustrated by how many offers he gets that aren't even half as much and no one follows through.

In the south east you wouldn't get more than $3k. Miles dont really matter when the heat index is 115° and you have no a/c

12K? WTF? I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota with only 32,000 miles on it. It looks brand new and I wouldn't even dare ask 12K for it.

For a RWD with low mileage, I'd personally pay $6k-7k. That's higher than most people, because a regular cab is like a bonus to me. I was unable to find one at the time, or else that's what I'd be driving today. They're harder to get where I live, but I like the size.

I would not pay much more than that, because fixing the AC could cost a pretty penny on its own, plus you'll always find a couple grand worth of things worth fixing on a vehicle this old.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Its a small truck, its 22 years old, im not paying anything over 4k and that 4k is beeing generous,

Capable_Ad1313

I would not pay over $3000 only because of the crazy low miles & only after CONFIRMING those are accurate! Regardless of how rare & how low miles, it is not any more useful to me than $3000

eyecandynsx

The owner can set whatever price he wants because that’s a rare truck with that kind of mileage. Someone will pay that. I wouldnt because that truck wouldn’t be useful to me, but old Rangers can bring stupid money.

Honestly, it's so crazy how expensive these have gotten. That said, this is a reasonable price for today's market.

However, the biggest red flag to me is actually the low miles. Why wasn't it driven that much? Is something wrong with it? Has it just been sitting for years? Was the odometer rolled back?

smward998

I mean not about the rarity unless your gonna collect it. If your using it that style of truck isn’t worth more than 4009

JustTryinToStartShit

Seller is on crack, that's a 4-6000 dollar truck on a good day. I bet those miles are rolled back too.

Couple grand tops. Its not a desirable truck. If that few miles on a 22yr old truck, most likely hoses are dry as hell.
