Why would you check a backpack? Or maybe it was a "all overheads are full, checked for free at the gate"?
On time my passport fell out of my pocket and landed into the car seat I was carrying for my daughter. I ended up checking the car seat once I was I the flight. They ended up finding my passport somewhere on the tarmac and had to hand it through the ermergency hatch/winds to get it back to me. I couldn’t believe it. Didn’t even realize I had lost it.
Saw this post then the next post was yours.
I work on the ramp at an airport (not baggage) and the incompetence of the baggage guys is astounding. This a such a common occurrence it doesn't even register to me anymore. It's like seeing a leaf on the sidewalk.
Yeah... I worked at a dodgy small town airport. They had a rule that if something 'fell' out of a suitcase, then they couldn't put it back in as it could go to the wrong suitcase.
If you are ever missing something when you arrive, some broad shoulder ground crew is +1 new trinket.
Years ago I worked baggage
We didn't drop many items on the ramp because there was an actual effort to keep that area clean
But at the main carousel where we'd sort all of the bags, that was basically organized chaos. Just a flurry of bags being checked and tossed around.
I once had a bag fall out of a cart, land funny, and come to a rest directly under the wheels of the train of carts.
I stopped at the sounds of ka-thunka-thunka-thunka, but I definitely had a few wheels drive over the thing.
is this what the airport means by "have you left your bags unattended"
And I was wondering if someone lost their parachute...
It'll be blown up right?
The owner of the black backpack on the tarmac is asked to get their left alone luggage. Else it will be removed by the authorities and the owner has to pay a removal fee.
