It's supposed to be glued there, and it just popped out, and is about to fall out. I'm so mad rn.
go back should be under warranty
Idk if seeing is right for you
Right? Take a hint and subscribe to Audible already. Some people were meant to see, OP is obviously meant to listen.
may as well splurge and go with Graphic Audio XD
Holy shit an XD in the wild. Takes me back man
I still use XD but now I feel like it goes over most or unnoticed. 😅
The poster might be underage for that.
Ask your doctor if EYES are right for you.
Maybe seeing really isn’t believing?
The weld broke. DO. NOT. SUPERGLUE THEM. I'm an optician. That will turn your "oh you guys need to fix this" into a " I fucked these up and now they won't fix this" real quick
My girlfriend (optician) just said the same thing.
Optician here: I just said the same thing lol.
I have a pair just like this, they broke the same way. I welded them with solder, it only lasted 2 days. Now they are ruined and I can’t give them back, refund policy isn’t too respected in my country though, and I got the pair from an optometrist I haven’t visited in +2 years.
Yes! He needs to go back. Solder is okay but usually the lead content is too high so it remains too soft. JB weld will hold better and be cleaner to apply.
Been too long to try and warranty mine (my wonderful, regular optometrist retired, lol), so I redneck engineered it by tying some fish line around my broken weld.
It took a second attempt at a ball of knots to keep it to hold, and one sharp end is turned away from my face to avoid scratches, other end buried in the clump of knots. It will still get caught in my hair, and I have noticed they tend to slide down my nose more frequently, so it's not an ideal long term solution. I am sure someone more knowledgeable than me may have already mentioned how bad it is for your eyes to have poorly aligned glasses.
For a temporary fix (that I have been using for too long), it seems to work. I just need to find a new optometrist to get an updated prescription and set of glasses, so I can make these an emergency backup pair.
I agree.
Source: was once the client that went from a "oh you guys need to fix this" situation to "I fucked these up" and then buying a whole new pair of glasses after severely reducing my quality of life trying to rock my ophthalmic Frankenstein for months
Yep. It's a lesson you only learn once. But I'm trying to prevent people from learning the hard way
Is it welded or have a little screw? It happened to me just this last night and it was a loose screw. They have them in any shop and usually they don't even charge you for putting a new one.
If the screw came out his lens would fall out. This is a broken weld.
Ohh didn't think about it.
good luck finding someone to fix it. exotic materials, titanium, some alloy mix, welding this thin, noone will touch this. any industrial welder will blow it through. any jewellery maker will avoid doing it. soldering, brazing, any generic filler material, wont probably stick. they use coatings, sweat is acidic, salty, even if you manage to fix it temporarily, it will get colorized and oxidized. will look nasty and irritate your skin if it contacts all the time. they will suggest you to replace it, but wont fix it.
source: 20 years of glasses. ive broke almost all of my glasses, i tried to fix some, ive tried to find someone to fix, this was my experience, my generalization. heck, current glasses i wear right now is holding together with dental floss right now. titanium frames, hold up pretty well, but fck those tiny little steel screws. good luck on your journey though. might have better luck than me.
Wtf have you been doing to your glasses? I've also been wearing glasses daily for ~20 years and never broken, or barely even scratched, any of them.
Also go to eyebuydirect and get the same glasses your optometrist will sell you for $200 for $20 lol
Only correct for single vision. Please do not buy progressive lenses online
This. Take them back they can repair them for you. If not they can replace it under the under warranty. I never buy any glasses without the warranty because of things like this. And make sure you have backup glasses too
I learned the hard way….also don’t try to solder them or use plastic filament and a heat gun to create a weld. I may have melted my lenses….
What about epoxy?
Lmao just stop. Wear them like a monocle for now
Epoxy, while better than superglue is still a bad idea. IF YOU MUST. and if you are not planning on going back to them for some strange reason. TAKE THE LENS OUT. This can be done with a simple flathead screwdriver. Then use a steel epoxy mix. Just a dab. On the connection spot . Jb weld steel will work fine. Let it dry for 24 hrs and your back in business.
Got it, thanks
Seriously, take them back where you bought them and they are supposed to make it right. If they can't fix them, they will replace them. Don't try to fix them yourself!
I've been repairing glasses for almost 20 years. This is what I would do. But first option is take them back. Have them replace.
Aren't those the same glasses you have multiple posts of yourself wearing, up to a month ago before i got bored of scrolling?
I saw a comment where you said there's no warranty because you're not in america, i was trying to see if you were in europe since we have protections for these kinds of things; but kept seeing the same pair of glasses.
Now i get why you're so set on not just taking them back.
I'm from Kazakhstan. There is a general cheap frame that looks basically the same in all stores, and I like the look. What would I gain from faking this?
The contact lenses post has over 9k upvotes, so dopamine.
Bro just go back.
I'm just pissed, I have super glue so...
I feel you but you need to get them to deal with it so that they don’t decide you “tampering” with it voids the warranty if something else goes wrong. Sometimes it’s important to do something that can feel petty
There isn't a warranty, I'm not in america
Brother no one under any economic structure anywhere should be forced to pay for something broken that was bought in new condition. That’s been a general rule since Babylon. You’re in the right to be pissed and demand a replacement in proper condition. At least try. You walk on fate don’t let it walk on you.
Last time you said didn't have optometrists in your country. I am finding the things that keep happening to you funny in light of your attitude.
I don't remember saying that, people just don't have personal optometrists
You are welcome to retroactively self edit in order to preserve your sense of self esteem. Just remember than and internal locus of control is a better belief.
You got them from somewhere right? So go back to wherever that was and see what they can do. I get the sense that you’re just making excuses for yourself so you can feel sorry for yourself
I remember. I saw that post and read your comments. You definitely said that.
Warranty is not an American concept. In fact America has shit warranty, consumer protection is not their forte.
Yeah get glue on the lenses, that's a good idea
Super glue voids warranties! Don't do it
When glasses do that even jb weld epoxy will not help. I had a pair do that and super glue will not hold for long. If you just got them you should be able to take them back warranty or not.
Super glue won't work for this. The weld between the frame front and the eye wire failed, which is almost certainly a manufacturing defect. Take it back to the store you purchased from. Also super glue is impossible to remove from eyeglass lenses. I've had patients ruin many sets of lenses with poorly done home repair attempts. Source: worked as an optician for a decade.
Just so ya know, the fumes off of superglue are really toxic. I used to have to use it to lift fingerprints off of certain items. Always gave me a headache. I probably should have worn a mask :)
Please don't use superglue!
Go back to the opticians, they should replace the frame for you, it should not break that quickly. The frame should be covered by a warranty.
You posted your face on reddit for the last few days with these exact glasses on. The ones you claim you lost at the beach 3 days ago. Very little of what you claim makes sense… karma farming? Or just looking for attention?
I already explained this to someone else, they are different glasses that look the same, how does that not register?
So what happened to the older, identical pair? You made a big to-do about your life practically being over because your contact lens broke, but all along you had an older pair of glasses that look exactly like these?
I already mentioned I lost them, and if you looked for more than 5 seconds you can see they are somewhat different.
Also, do you not think I could have used older photos?
I thought you couldn't just go to an optometrist in your country?
I mentioned people don't just have optometrists, like personal ones. They still exist
No one has personal optometrists, they have local shops - which is what someone means when they say "call your optometrist". Could just be a language barrier thing though.
I’ve always had a personal optometrist. I’ve only gotten a different one with changes of insurance
OP: "I don't live in a country where people just have optometrists"
Also OP: "I managed to get some new glasses from an optometrist nearby"
🤡
Can you reword this so it makes more sense?
Faulty frame, they should be able to replace it with a frame they have in store. Might not be the same colour though
OP I think the universe is trying to tell you to just give up, or to get a monocle.
Probably the monocle.
I just don’t see how that could happen.
Faulty materials. It happens.
Jesus Christ, whatever you do don't get lasik or your damn eye is gonna break
Bad day, huh?
Noooo! I just saw your contacts post earlier. How unlucky are you?!? Hopefully it's all used up now.
Universe just doesn’t want you to see right now.
Take them back. They fix them for free. Source: I've sat on, stepped on and slept on my glasses more than a few times.
please send me your location, i will stay the fuck away because there is probably a meteor hurling in your direction
Just get LASIK at this point...
With OP’s luck, Lasik is probably the last thing they should be getting
Yeah, might break the laser.
You can go to your optometrist and get it fixed
Dude, you need a novena or burning sage or something.
It's not fair, you had time now.
Underrated comment
There's something the universe doesn't want you to see.
Not having much luck there chief
Bad soldering joint. Pretty common on frames made nowadays, as the quality has gone to shit.
Jeez maybe don’t buy the cheapest crappy frame and this won’t happen?
It’s usually the expensive ones that do this . And it’s all the same company!!
Luxottica makes 90% of the world’s glasses . They own every brand name you can think of and are paid by other to have special lines like Gucci and Porsche and fashion brands. 🙄
Cool that you think you know what you are talking about. Look outside of lux brands and into independent premium brands and you won’t have breakage issues like this. Even with the more premium lux brands you won’t have these issues. Saying that all eyewear is the same is categorically false and shows how little you know about the industry.
Your funny ! 😆I never said it all was the same 🙄Quality doesn’t come with price . Just ask any Ferrari owner . 😆
My expensive glasses broke in one day , the cheap ones are still going strong 10 years later 🙄
Imagine arguing over the internet with someone who has spent a lifetime in the eyewear industry and here we are. Mileage may vary, but my stance on brands and quality is the correct opinion. Ask a quality optician in a state that requires a license for optical dispensing and see for yourself. I don’t care what you think, I felt the need to speak up about the misinformed opinion you’re spreading. Keep believing what you want and wear your junky glasses for the rest of your life for all I care!
So what's the name of the witch you mildly annoyed OP, you might want to go and apologize.
"...cursed by his own hubris."
I think honestly you should really consider just crawling into bed for a few days until this bad luck phase passes you by.
Glued??? Glasses should be screwed together, not glued. You’re not having very good luck.
Dr Google has the answer ....
Lasik is the only answer now.
Go shoot those eye lasers OP!!!!
Bet
Thought optometrists weren’t a thing?
They get their shit from China but charge you out the ass for it. Next time you go to places like Costco "You do not need a membership for the eye exam FYI" and buy off of sites like Zenni/USA Glasses.
In fact, I will bet money you'll find that frame on the website 1/4th the price.
It is something called "Broken".
Dang dude, you can’t win today!
You're just not having a very good week visually speaking. I hope the rest of your week gets better!
You’ll just have to wear the contact and the glasses if you ever want to be able to see again!
Did you like, break any mirrors or walk under any ladders lately? This is nearly cartoonish level bad luck lol.
Tip for anyone with prescription eyewear go to zenni or one of the online shops type in your prescription and get the cheapest frames they have so you can always have a backup pair on hand when stuff like this happens. They might not be fashionable or fit exactly how you like but it’ll keep you from being sightless until you get your glasses fixed
I prefer kits.com
Did you make a wish on monkeys paw because you seem to be having the worst luck.
Are you cyclops?
This was def in the foreseeable future for you
You must have really strong eyesight.
Let me intrude you to my glass’ best friend: super glue
Same thing happened to my chesterfields
Somebody upstairs is rage baiting you OP
Take it as a sign.
Superflex? Yeah it happens sometimes. Don't try to glue them, it won't last, and you'll void the warranty. Take them back to the optometrist's office and they should be able to get you a new frame. if they don't, they're not a good optometrist's office.
Damn we have the same glasses 🤓
God wants you to tell you that the peeping you did a few weeks back was not good, and you should repent
God wants you to not see something in the next few days
Rough day huh
I know the frustration. Decades ago I had just picked up my special order prescription glasses with the latest anti scratch/antiglare/nonbreakable flexible spring-back titanium metal framed glasses, and they broke in my hand as I was cleaning the lens. I had been considering laser surgery and that pushed me over the edge and made an appointment that evening. Best thing I ever did!
Exactly how my last pair broke
You should seriously always have a back up pair of glasses
Not everyone is meant to be able to see.
Great news. Live it up
Definietly a curse
It's time to consider becoming a pirate arggg🏴☠️
Every time I get eye glasses from the actual doctors office they are wrong. They put the focal point way of from where the glasses actually sit on my face so I can't use them.
The last three pair of glasses I've brought I can't wear yet the cheap crappy ones I buy from zenni work every time.
The world just doesn't want you to see it in high definition i think...
I'm sure I had the exact same glasses yeah they did the same thing
I think it’s time to explore the possibility of a mummy’s curse
Happened to me about six months after getting my most recent pair. Thread works pretty well to tie it together.
Are you cursed?
Cheap ass expensive glasses, thats what it is. I spent $400 on a pair, and they came apart a month later.
When it rains, it pours
It's not glued. Do not glue it back together. Take it back and they will fix it for you.
can't catch a break jesus lol
Same thing happened to me I used backing soda and super glue but it didn't set right so I have to redo it mine holds the lens in as well and hold it to the frame so super annoying
I am so sorry that things keep going this way. I hope the day gets better.
You... are now wellthatsucks ROYALTY 👑
They should be able to fix it. Most do it at no cost if you purchased them from the doc.
Oh no!
You should give up on the sight and live just by hearing and smell. This is a sign.
Lasik it is.
I can't come in to work I have an eye problem.... I can't see myself coming into work!
I wish I could downvote the optomestrist.
Where did you buy them from? Even though I get my glasses from LensCrafters the ladies at Walmart optometry or always happy to help even if you didn't buy from them. I think they get bored and always like working on a challenge
I had the exact same frames. They are laser spot welded there. It’s spring steel and very hard to glue or epoxy. I ended up ordering a pair off the Internet priority overnight. Took about three days to get. JB weld is about your only option until the new ones get to you.
Haha, so it’s actually not supposed to be glued, it broke off the connecting metal at the top. Where did you get these by chance and what is the brand?
Source: this happened to me with my favorite frames 3 times on 3 separate pairs before I was banned from getting new frames like these lol.
You’re just having a day, aren’t you?
What frame did you get?! I have a pair of Columbia that just did the same thing when I was wiping the lenses with a cleaning cloth.
Crazy I had the same exact glasses, break in the same exact place.
Looks like it's missing a screw. An eyeglass repair kit should do in a pinch, may ask for assistance putting the screw in considering your eye troubles
Nah, it's snapped clean. The part the screw goes through is still there, holding the arm on.
Take it back to where you got it. They will fix it or replace it I'm sure.
Gonna just post every basic thing huh
Seems like a message. Perhaps you’ve seen too much?
NOOOO 😭😭
Time for that pirate life, OP
Take what ya can! Give nothing back.
OMG, what a day to have eyes.
*laughs hysterically*
God doesn't want him to see clearly again lol
His subscription ran out
It's just been revoked.
They saw the Epstein list
Are you vacationing in Morocco, perchance?
Me? No. I’m semi-vacationing in my lounge room.
