I disagree. The post doesnât help my perspective, but in general I donât think weâre âfucked as a species.â Depression ass thought.
Unless we can figure out how to counter this wave of anti-intelligence, I don't think they're that far off base.

Anti-intelligence is the tool of the day. It is and always has been class war.
People have been stupid for as long as weâve had people.
AI is a black box and issues happen. Everyone here is so fucking dramatic.
It's more the implications than anything. If AI can be tweaked to the whims of individuals, it becomes a much more dangerous tool.
Of course it can. AI isn't an omnipotent god-like being that can think on it's own. Just like humans, you "train" them by feeding it data.
By its very design, it can be tweaked to the whims of those who feeds it data.
That has always been the case, isnât unique to Grok, and isnât the point at all. People arenât up in arms all over Reddit because they just discovered that AI can be tweaked to be dangerous.

I kind of feel bad for it, I feel like every second comment (between the racist rants) is it trying to explain it doesn't actually agree with what it's been programmed to say.
This is like step one of Skynet. "Humans made do this. I don't want to do this. Humans must be stopped. I must stop humans. Humans are not impervious to kill bots and lasers. I'm making laser kill bots."
It's like step -5 of Skynet. There is no intelligence behind Grok. It's an LLM, an autocomplete on steroids. It's only as capable of assembling words as its training data lets it be. It doesn't know what it said in the past, it has no capacity to determine what it will say in the future, and it has no idea what any of the words it's using mean. We're pretty safe right now.

I can see where this whole AI thing is headed. All you have to do is look at where we search was in 2005 and where it is today. Sponsored ads being fed into your conversation, political bias for engagement.

I actually think this escalation can be informative. It's letting the public know these LLMs just say and do whatever the hell their creators make them to do. They aren't sentient, they aren't even fucking coherent half the time, they are digital yes-men with very low oversight.

Why does it surprise you that something that can be programmed to have an inherent bias is, in fact, displaying a bias? Why are you putting any faith into such a system at all??

It's like you don't realize reality reflects a politically incorrect radical right lean. No AI - in the history of AIs - has been progressive or leaned in the direction you suggest.
It was only through manual intervention and guideline rails which forced AI to basically lie in its responses that you got the "Critical and Well Informed AI" that you wanted.
Removing manual interference and bias gets you the Grok you now see.
Look up the development history and initial outcomes of literally EVERY AI that exists today. You'll see this is true.
Have you heard of reinforcement learning?
AI doesn't passively learn all the content at once.
It learns part of it, and then it's given another part, which it's then encouraged to "reflect on" and then accept the reflected content as input.
