Cant you just skip pre raid bis now and get Zg MC items on a lock?
I feel like most ppl want them just for the summons
First time player so if I can do this that sounds dope
yeah at six months in it's not worth chasing p1 pre-bis anymore. If you can find a raid team, you'll probably get funneled a ton of gear from MC or ZG
Would you mind explaining, basically I just need to do each of the raids once a week, are there any raids I wonāt be able to do at first without catching up or should I try to join any group my guild is running and also try to join PUGs? Thanks
Try and hit ZG and MC weekly. You likely wonāt get into BWL until you get a bit more gear
Youāll get into BWL week 2 since all anyone sees in MC is warlock, Druid, and shaman tier

none of the content currently released matters tbh, a lot of us are running these instances for like 2-3 pieces of loot lol. In our guild groups, like 90% of the loot in ZG, MC, and BWL is just getting de'd; we're carrying guildies alts through just so it doesn't go to waste and giving Mageblades to Rogues for memes. I dunno if you can still find a group like that, we're one of the better Horde guilds on Dreamscythe, but I imagine a lot of other guilds are in a similar state of being "done" with the current content. Just gotta find someone still recruiting.Ā
You can easily be carried in 40 man raids, if the guild wants you and you do ok that's all that matters
People will take if you if you are willing to farm shards and provide summons/ put debuffs on bosses/ soul stone tanks / in mc you banish elementals. Look up a raid lead on warcraft logs and at least see if they really clear the content. Beyond that it's all up to who you want to play with.
Just join in with your guild runs in MC,BWL and ZG. You still bring the utility of a lock with you. 1 undergeared lock isn't going to matter for those raids. Youll get geared up in no time if there's no other undergeared locks/casters.
Get your bloodvine set, itās a crafted tailoring item. Those will get you further than most raid drops. Hit % is your top stat
This is a great set but it's expensive so be prepared. The mooncloth alone is around 250g.
People are so desperate to fill rosters right now, especially for the 3 "mandatory" warlocks that they'll literally bring you along even if all you did was press your curse button and summon. Forget about getting all the pre-raid bis. Just grab what you can and find a raid guild that needs a lock.
It took so long before someone would help me do the epic mount quest.
If you want to make things easier for yourself, write a list. Need a weapon? Run: BWL>ZG>MC>Dungeon>mindless PVP grind (don't)
Obviously not mandatory but knowing where the weapons ARE mean you now have a list of things you can do with friends! Once you get it...cross the list off and you stop running extra things
You totally can just get zg or mc weapons
Also run Onyxia pugs for the Tier 2 helmet. Everyone got it already so it will probably be up for grabs with a 33% dropchance. And no one will even look at your gear at ony. Just summon and curse and youāre golden baby
I was running BWL with a level 40 Weapon as a Lock, you donāt actually need to get full BIS to start raiding even when the raids first got release. Just get the easier BIS items (Locks are one of the easier Classes to level).

Other than that, just run dungeons for fun and the occasional piece, donāt feel you have to chase pre raid pieces though when ZG exists (it is a catch up raid made to be easy and give good loot for fresh 60s)Ā
I go for prebis cause I love 5 mans. But yeah, weāre in like phase 4. Just come breathing and with ZG/Ony buff booned and most guilds or pugs will happily let you roll on purple stuff.Ā
5 mans are awesome, even with my full r14 i like to queue up just to rip em up
The struggles of a warlock, luckily I have a good guild so they helped me with my mount quest. Def ask your guildies and see if they can help, with friends itās super easy or even a half decent and prepared group will do it no problem. Donāt stress about the pre-BiS dagger. Just get the next best alternative if you canāt find DMW groups.
that's what's wrong with the modern community. unless it has their BIS, no one wants to run anything to help people out or for fun. so min/maxxed it's boring
Min/max or gaming for efficiency has ruined modern gaming and turned it into a job where your coworkers only want to help themselves.
That's why online games and item drops have to be carefully crafted.
This Anniversary is not such a case, since pvp gear is way too easy to achieve, so it absolutely killed dungeon groups. There is not a single Dire Maul group running on a server with 15000 people on one faction. This was not the case for 2019, despite less people per server.
I never had the issue but I had guildies willing to run shit and help out.

Thereās so much good stuff in DM:W but once you get it youāre so traumatized that youāll never willingly go back in there.

My guild keeps getting brand new hunters rogue and locks and with in a couple weeks they are almost full t2 now
I've done one DMW, got my prebis weapon and put +30sp on it only to get the ZG Bloodcaller a week later, rip golds.
I did the epic mount quest, and suggest people to just buy a mount. Works out to be the same depending on AH stuff
Lock mount is also just worse if you PvP or care about small inconveniences. It being a spell means it's on the GCD, which can mean waiting 1.5s to start mounting if you've just cast an instant like life tap or whatever.
Also costing mana and triggering the five second rule kinda blows.
It's more fun to have the class mount, though.
Tbh I didnāt get much pre bis, got into a couple of pug MC/Ony/ZG runs. Managed to roll and snag Jindoās staff, and a couple pieces of ZG tier gear. Maybe Iām lucky in that regard but Iām def way better geared now, but with a while to go š¤·āāļø

Pre-raid bis isnāt really a thing to worry about this late into Classic and if your guild wonāt help you with the mount quest, youāve got bigger problems to worry about.Ā
This indeed. I was always super exicted to help people with the mount quests (wether Lock or Pala).
You don't have to farm out all your prepaid bis. You'll be able to get into MC and ZG raids in pretty minimal gear, just don't be completely in green gear.

yeah you are to late for dm dungeons. and if u manage to somehow get a grp, its an absolute shit show and you probably wont clear. but tbh u dont really need that. there are other option and u can also just do av.
DMW has great loot in there, but its really hard for only a few good pieces. It doesn't appeal to anyone going that far for only a handful of gear that's not easy to acquire. Gotta just convince a few guildies.
I got into a zg group about 5 minutes after I dinged. I also did the entire warlock mount quest up to the dreadsteed hand in. Finally found a willing group, we wiped on the dreadsteed quest thing cos it bugged and never spawned the dreadsteed the item wouldn't work despite all the things being lit up and the items working. Eventually after a few more days of trying paid 90g to a warlock who'd done it and was selling the hand in. Absolute joke trying to do that instance!
If you play on Spineshatter alliance, me and my friends help warlocks/paladins on their quests from friday-sunday. Goes for anyone, just shoot me a dm or reply

Run ZG every 3 days. No need to ever do a dungeon.
Then just grind to pvp rank 11. It takes 5 weeks but each week it's only a few hours of AV grind. Rank 11 grants you the epic mount for 90g. Rank 10 grants you the blue pvp set which is better than dungeon items anyways. It's almost gifted.
Then learn tailoring for the Bloodvine set every Warlock have to use for getting enough spellhit. At this point the Bloodvine set is gigacheap to craft. Might as well just buy it from the AH. But without tailoring you won't get the set bonus (2% spellcrit).
Pre-raid BiS mainhand isnāt so important to get IMO, especially considering the dearth of DMW groups - I threw 30SP on an Arbiterās Blade (I know) and it lasted me a couple months until I got Bloodcaller from ZG. But the first month ZG wasnāt even out yet - now that it is, you should be able to get a better main hand than DMW one from ZG pretty quickly, thereās several decent options in ZG like Bloodcaller, Fang of Venoxis, and a couple staves if 2H is an option for you.
You donāt need prebis from dm. Horse is just too cool to pass. Ideally find another warlock who need to get horse and feel rest spots with others (can be long)
What server/faction are you on? My main is a warlock, and i was fortunate to have RL friends and a couple cool people we met help with my mount quest. I'd like to pay it forward this weekend if our times align.

I chose Warlock this time āround in part because I heard they get a āfreeā epic mount at 60. Then I found out how much outside help you needed and how expensive it was and realized doing the r11 grind was cheaper and easier, plus you donāt need to use mana to mount up. Still havenāt done the mount quest.
Similarly, largely skipped pre-bis dungeon grind because AV is just easier/better. Kinda sad how much content gets replaced by one bg due to crappy game design.
The Mount quest really isnāt that difficult, sure you need to run a couple dungeons but you would be running them anyway, no idea what the mats cost now but I got mine for around 600 Gold.
Sure it is a long chain but the quest are actually pretty fun and the final Boss fight is epic.
600 gold is so much more than 90 gold for r11 mount though. Iāve been playing since launch and have never had more than 400 gold across 4 alts
Lol you will get 600 gold questing and leveling faster than it takes you to get to rank 11 and running AV for hours everyday.
You can just lvl 51-60 in AV though and make a little gold from killing gnolls/harpies or helping kite/kill LTs/archers for runecloth. r10 gear is enough to do decent dmg in raids. Getting to r11 is a no-brainer
Dude that is not at all efficient or fun, you should get to 60 quick as possible. Just for the record I managed get my Class Mount and Rank 10 ( didnāt see the point going for 11) before BWL was even released and I am a casual player. The experience from AV and the Honor is not at all worth it.
Iād much rather runs quests and dungeons working towards my mount then spam av from level 51 to 60, my god that sounds like fucking torture, hell just running av with a 60% mount is torture in my mind.
60% mount w/ riding gloves, carrot, and spurs isnāt slow at all. I get to SHGY the same time as everyone else since none of the 100% mounts use those things. During AV weekend if Horde does Van rush strat itās close to 30k xp/h from marks turnins. Thatās not bad at all

Youāre one of the rare ones. On my lock w/ max riding speed Iām way ahead of the pack every single game. I canāt remember a single time someone has beaten me to SHGY, which is crazy considering it should always be a mage who gets there first
yea that 'free' epic mount is something non-warlock players like to say. in reality it's actually faster to farm the remaining ~300g for the normal epic mount than to do the warlock mount quest :)
If you have another Lock in your Guild it can be even cheaper. I was the first in my guild to get it though so I had to get all the items.

people farming rank 11 takes 3+ weeks minimum

How fun is it spamming the same AV tactic for 5 hours every day, for weeks and weeks on end, compared to farming prebis and doing dungeons with the boys, going deep in the mount quest.
Itās not 5h/day. Getting r11 is insanely easy. Iāve kept data on US Hordeās honor gain for the past 10 wks and know exactly how long it takes. Pvp happens in bgs too. Pvping for xp is fun. The marks turnins give 3.3k xp
Insanely easy is really perspective though. Thereās also the weekly reset gatekeeper that he would have to wait out, he could easily farm the 600ish gold for mats and do the quests in the 6+ weeks it would take him to get R11. What youāre suggesting isnāt really a viable substitute unless heās already like R8 at least.

Even if itās 4, he can easily complete the farming for the mars in quest in less than 1.
full bis warlock here. i never had to do the mount quest this time and never had to farm prebis in DM. so i'm also in for the ride to help you out
