MoP Pre-Patch Honor Grind
People told me yesterday the honor grind system was just as good now as it was in Cata with the item cost drops and they got full Cataclysmic on new toons in MoP pre-patch only playing a couple hours a night skipping some nights. So I started data farming.
The screenshot data was over 9 hours, with probably an hour or so worth of breaks. So 2828 Honor over ~8 hours = 350hph. It costs a little over 13k for full Cataclysmic so with this hph it would be around 37 hours.
Playing casual 2 hours over 8 days (they said they skipped some nights, so lets call it 7 days) you would need an hph of 950. I don't see how this is possible. Am I missing something?

It will be better once you are doing 90 bgs, this is to prevent you being honor capped by time youre 90

Can i take the honor to mop?
Wintergrasp is up every 3 hours, you get 150-300 honor each time mostly based on how many towers are destroyed. You can also do the five wintergrasp weekly quests and those are all worth 180 each.
Theres also the old hellfire peninsula tower daily, which is worth 165 honor and is pretty quick to do if you can cap them to your side
Regular bg grinding is pretty bad honor per hour right now unfortunately
I was doing it every 3h along with Tol Borad on other toons before pre-patch dropped to catch them up on gear but the new BG queue window just has it grayed out at all times. Am I bugged? Should I be able to queue this right now?
It's every 3 hours. Just fly into the zone and it should ask you if you want to join queue
You can queue for wintergrasp by talking to the battle master for it in dalaran when it's up, or by flying directly into the zone when its up
Thank you! Huge time saver, didn't know this was still possible. Flew into the zone earlier today and there were no NPCs in the zone so I figured it was just removed. The NPCs ended up appearing later and apparently this is just a zone bug. Glad to have figured this out

only reason honor gain is trash is because we are not 90, its scaled for lvl 90 - when u go into the bg you are lvl 89
the people who said they got full cata pvp geare casually in prepatch are lying
Does it make sense to farm some honor for the mop start to buy some stuff with level 90?
I'm gonna do some PvP leveling and recap my honor. It's not the most efficient, but I have fun
Yeah, I believe all JP and honor carry over into MoP so it's a good idea to cap both (if you can).
Pvp right now is just how I remembered it back in the day. Horde getting smoked and Every tryhard rolling alliance for the op racial, naming their characters with “qt” at the end and always using the illidan blindfold transmog or engineer goggles for non leather users
Just do pve for gear and honor cap with WG. I did this on my boost and was done in like 2 days. The random twilights gear you super fast. Don’t need PvP gear for leveling anyways.
Ya, I am in half Twilight gear half PvP. Got the bow to drop when I was doing the Twilight chain quest which was nice. Me and a buddy are planning on leveling quite a bit thru PvP to recap honor and it's the way we enjoy playing the game. It seems like double work honor capping twice but we are essentially just making half ass twinks to level in BGs.
I boosted a Druid 5 days ago and currently have 20 hours of /played and yesterday just hit full cata gear. Mixing in Wintergrasp and the grizzly hills dailies is a huge help.
Don't forget about the Grizzly Hills quests. 220 honor in a few minutes.

Is the honor gear at 90 any good for PvE? Wondering if I should cap now or later :)
iirc the introduction of PvP power power makes full pvp gear the only viable option in arena and bgs (no pve needed to pvp) PvP power and resil are dead stats in PvE though so I would assume they are trash outside of arena/bg. Someone might have better insight tho
My theory is its like assuming youre getting max honor gain for kills while leveling pre 90. We are technically in mop, and they already had scaling in for pvp. So i think we just arent getting max honor gains because we arent 90 yet.

Considering the final stretch of getting Rank 14 is doing 500k~ honor three weeks in a row, which is essentially a 40-50 hour "job" each week, 37~ hours TOTAL sounds way better.
Ya I totally agree, but on the PvE end of things you can do 1 day of LFG queue and have full 397 gear compared to weeks and weeks of raiding on classic for 1 item. Hard to compare games lol
I remember mop prepatch being fantastic for grinding honor gear when I was younger. Seems way worse this time around in classic

How do you do WG right now? The queue is grayed out and I was under the impression it was not working. Can you just run to the zone for queue?
You have to go there I think it's once every 12 or 8 hours I forgot. No wiring up for it sadly
I just ran a circle around Wintergrasp and there are no NPCs in the zone so no quests and the queue is always grayed out. Is there something I don't know?
you have to que in dalaran. The NPC will tell you the time left.

Hellfire Peninsula, the tower quests? I'm on Bene ally not sure if these switch sides often but I'mma go check it out right now. Is the Terrokar Forest daily quest still available too?
did it work? im very interestede in this too. I logged in got the quest (no honor for turn in on the rewards) but then saw someone capping maybe that was you lol

Maybe they removed it in prepatch? I've been leveling my monk honestly. But before pre patch it was free 300 honor a day.
its a daily for 135 honor now still not bad for 5 seconds of work
