13 years since the last Budokai game was released
We’re two console generations removed from the Budokai HD collection…let that sink in. I think it would be amazing for Bandai to look into another remaster for the Budokai series (and include Budokai 2)! Or maybe some support with backwards compatibility?

Don't give me another Budokai 3 remaster without the original theme. Which will never happen because of licensing issues.
It's actually because of plagiarism, not license issues. The guy who made a lot of music for the games (and I think some of the anime, don't remember) was found guilty of it.

If you're talking about the opening song sung by Hironobu Kageyama, nah that wasn't plagiarized. But it does seem like they for some reason refuse to bring Kageyama on board to do any new songs now, which really sucks.
He didn’t plagiarize everything, but they cut all his shit. I’m pretty sure the game’s original intro theme, Ore Wa Tokoton Tomaranai was an original creation (and way better than its HD replacement).
To this day I play Budokai 3 on my PS2 because I refuse to put up with inferior music
I'm glad Infinite World still had the original music in what was really a love-letter to the soundtrack from throughout the Budokai trilogy.
It was like 2 songs and iirc not all of that even. Small parts were sampled?(not sure if technically correct term)
The frieza theme song was hard and apparently sampled black sabbath, and the other was a dragonforce song?
Regardless, one of the HARDEST dbz soundtracks ever put together. Even the menu songs bumped
It's a lot more than 2 songs, it expands across his entire career, from the Super Butoden games on the Super Famicom all the way to Dragon Ball Kai.
The song “Challengers” was directly ripped off from the song “Hunting High and Low” by the Power Metal band Stratovarius (still one of the best songs in a dragon ball game)

The only way I’ve been close to having the best of both worlds was running the game on pcsx2 and adjusting the graphics in the emulator…it does get very close to the HD collection minus the extra saturation I see from it at times
I'm looking at getting a proper HD converter hopefully for my birthday next year, so I can at least play the PS2 one again on a big screen.
If they do, hopefully they'll put it on PC so the original tracks can be modded in. It sucks that it's all plagiarized, but the shit he plagiarized was really good lol.

Imo, the boardgame element was trash. It was the main reason why I called on my friend's younger brother to finish it because I got annoyed with it.
2 was definitely the odd one out
1 was the groundbreaking debut of a good 3d dragon ball game with its cutscenes and design charm
3 was considered the best of the series gameplay wise and had the most characters
2 was the weird one with the board game and Babidi spaceship and what if fusions

Yeah agreed. The flying around in 3 was great but the direction with rock paper scissors style stuff during gameplay was a little disappointing since it interrupts the fights so much. I wish we could have the simpler mechanics from 2, but the roster of 3. And it had the best soundtrack but a lot was plagiarized which i think is the main reason it wasnt included in the bundles.

2 had so many cool things like buus different absorbs like vegeta and tien and yamcha, as well as Gokule and Tienmcha
I completely understand why they excluded Budokai 2 at that point in time. Now I do think they would need to do include it in another HD remaster. I think it’s aged to the point where it’s considered unique and fans would still enjoy the game!
3 is my favorite but 2 was definitely not the “weird one” or bad in anyway. Sure the story mode was different but the game in itself is legendary. And it didn’t include the dreaded dragon rush bullcrap
The board game was so much fun and added a lot of unique replayablility, using different characters and taking different routes.

Burst limit 2 plsss Its visuals still hold up to this day ngl adding the Boo saga, Daima and other new stuff, the roster and story mode would be more complete. With Infinite World's mini games we would get the perfect DB fighting game (imo)
The guys behind the budokai games are the same people who are on Xenoverse and since this franchise does so well, I don't have high hopes for a Budokai comeback any time soon 🤔

I have the PS2 versions still thank god. Does the PS2 USA version have the original theme on it? I heard the PS3 version doesnt have some song or theme on it and I know the graphics are edited during some violent special attack moves

I expected Fighterz to be the next evolution in the Budokai series but its more like Dragon Ball Street Fighter. Still a great game

I have so much reverence for Budokai 3. Exploring the map and figuring out all the secrets of each character's story. The fighting was pretty decent but managed to capture the theatre of DBZ with the cutaway super moves so damn well. I'd love for a 4th in the series. I enjoyed Burst Limit on 360 following the Budokai games but it was definitely missing some flair.

Just like Sparking! Zero/Budokai Tenkaichi 4, I want to see a brand new Budokai game that focuses on Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super. As for the DLC, they can add the OG Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball GT, and Dragon Ball Daima in the game. New gameplay mechanics, new modes, new skills, bring back the capsule customization for your characters to change skills/transformations/fusion, and a lot more.
The fact these games and so many others are not playable on modern platforms is astonishing. Im convinced these game companies don’t know their fanbases anymore.

I won't be surprised if they do a Budokai Zero at some point after Sparking Zero. But who knows where Bamco's head is at with anything these days other than their love of milking their fandoms of whatever they can.

I'm pretty tired of anime games being fighters, but I admit another Budokai could be cool if there's a good amount of single player stuff. I want to see another story like Shin Budokai Another Road.

I was honestly never a big fan of the Tenkaichi games. Budokai 3 and burst limit were the two best DBZ games until FighterZ was released. I’d like another Budokai (Tekken Ball Z) game

This is still my favorite DBZ game. Sparkiing Zero is getting up there, but Budokai is the best. Been playing it with my kids.

Closest thing you'll get is Sparking Zero if you don't want to emulate Budokai 3, but that's a full 3D arena fighter as opposed to the 2.5 had in Budokai 3

I grew up with these games, but Fighterz is better. I don’t really care for DBZ 3D fighters anymore. I just wish it had a better produced single player story.

DBZ Budokai 3 to this day is still my favorite DBZ fighting game.

Could never really get into the Tenkaichi games, but Budokai 3 and infinite world were my jam.
Same! I played so much Budokai 3. I played it by myself for hours every day, and then I would go to friends house and we would play together. We did this for years. I got Tenkaichi and put it down after a few weeks.
I rented each Tenkaichi game from Blockbuster when they came out, returned them when they were due back, and haven't touched them since.
Budokai 3, however, i put hundreds of hours into that game and I still want to play it.
I remember borrowing it from my neighbor and unlocking things they hadn't even known were in the game. I put in soo much time in that playing through everything.
