But also. We (Scandinavian) been closely connected to UK for quite a long time. From raiding your monasteries, to settling there and taking over parts of the country. To later, when for example the scottish, were a huge part of Sweden's succesful army and conquests. So much so that they, and their offspring, were a huge part of building up Sweden to what it became.
In addition, many of the words in English, and vice versa, we've traded from each other. We have books like Beowulf which is a huge part of english history.
So it wouldn't be THAT odd that Britts feel a connection to Scandinavia and its exports. And at the same time, we've had TONS of young people moving from Scandi to work in the UK. For similar reasons I believe. Culturally we've had a lot of similarties.

There's always going to be a segment of any society that wants to stay rooted in its more comfortable past where everybody looked the same and thought the same.
