The only scenario I can think of it possibly working is a job fair where someone will almost certainly have to look at it, probably while the applicant is actually handing it to them.

If it's real, I could see this being one side, with the actual resume on the flip. That way he can make a memorable and creative joke in person, and still actually provide a resume.

In two weeks this'll be 3% of your resume formats. Not a lot statistically, but it'll feel like a lot and you'll resent each one more than the last.

Bakoro

The first person to do it is a genius, all the others are just sending trash.

By the fourth one it wouldn't even register anymore.

What would actually annoy me is all the other meme resumes that would flood in from other people also trying to be different.

It's like the one person that bought Fallout 4 with bottlecaps. Bethesda laughed and said "good one," and gave them a copy, but no one else is ever gonna be able to pull that off.

Carolusboehm

I have a sense of humor so I think this is funny, but I would never hire him, unless I was hiring for a company that needs people who are fucking insane, which in this economy is quite a big sector. "Welcome aboard the Operations team, make sure you get on the company health insurance ASAP so we can start paying for your meth subscription"

erroneousbosh

I can't find it now because the internet is so enshittified but I remember seeing a post on something years ago about a graphic designer who wrote his CV in the style of a brand design manual.

I wish I could find it, it was really good. I also worked with a guy who was a bit spectrumy (and I say that, fully aware of Reddit's demographic - spectrumy by *our* standards) who wrote his CV in the style of a hardware datasheet. He got hired, and because of his occasionally odd behaviour he provided his manager and colleagues with a detailed "O&M Manual" for himself with a bunch of "runbooks" with things like "If Chris is just staring into the distance looking scared, he is starting to spiral. Reset him by taking him outside and pointing out things on the other side of the river to look at for a few minutes".

And quite honestly I think that's not a bad idea at all.

Not-a-thott

They go to interviews with their parents. Absolutely hillerious.

makesterriblejokes

Weird thing is it's Gen X that's enabling it primarily. It's weird because generally speaking they come off as diet baby boomers that like to act as if they're the last hardened generation before soft millennials came through, but then they're the ones helicopter parenting at a job interview lol.

I don't get it

giddyup523

Same thing as Baby Boomers being the ones that invented giving their children "participation trophies" and then using the concept of them to shit on their children's generation.

eagleal

Helicopter parenting, partecipation tophies and shitting on the generations to come were the thing for millenia: it was called artistocracy.

TypingPlatypus

They used to say that about millennials too and as was the case then, some random kid did that and now it's "all Gen Z's do this".

caffiend98

It's a cute idea, but the objective statement is bland. If you're only going to show a preview, it better be a great preview. We would talk about this in the department, but not move his application forward.

Justgotbannedlol

if it were a real attempt and they cut it like half way, with an absolutely fire first half, i could see it.

Useuless

It could also have a blur effect on the second half, So you could see that there was stuff there but not make out any of the details

nelflyn

It would be a cute idea to maybe fade out at the very end of the milestones, but this obviously takes it way too far, especially since it doesn't seem to include any contact information. Maybe on another side.

LupineChemist

Yeah, isn't the CV itself the demo you use to unlock?

RoarOfTheWorlds

He wouldn't even make it past the automated resume filters. The only thing an offline resume is good for nowadays is applying in person to fast food places.

Designer_Pen869

Most fast food restaurants don't accept paper resumes now. At least not when I applied while in college.

New-Neighborhood-147

People need to remember having a CV that stands out is great, but it has to pass the AI filters that most companies use to screen incoming CVs first. This will get rejected without ever being seen by a human for any decent paying job.

ComeonmanPLS1

Even if it was seen by a human, there’s nothing there that would compel anyone to want to see the rest.

hawkinsst7

Maybe if printed. If this were a PDF or word doc (or god forbid, HTML), the keywords could be white-on-white or in the metadata, and maybe the software will register those.

johnnyblaze1999

Resume is basically a small demo to show the recruiter on what a candidate could do if hired. This is not even a demo but a random joke that not everyone is going to get it. Not a good way to market yourself in a sea of serious candidates.

pvprazor2

Not gonna lie, I would at least invite him to an interview. I can also see this being successfull in marketing, shows creativity at the very least.

johnnyblaze1999

You don’t even know his name or contact information. Also why waste your time on that when serious candidates are waiting for their turn?

People who've been taught what to put on a CV. They tell you to have a personal profile which says things like willing to learn, can work in a team, or on own initiative, that you're reliable. Stuff like that. This one is just a very verbose way of saying they're willing to learn new skills as needed for the job.

lurker628

The problem isn't the goals listed, it's leaving it as "your company" instead of personalizing it to the company to which it's being submitted and the phrase "as a career person" which has to be AI generated. "Gain more knowledge" without specifying in what also strongly suggests AI.
