My bulldog Carl howled once and it was so deep and guttural it was astonishing. We were watching a movie where several sled dogs were howling in the snow, he was laying on my lap asleep and it was like his ancestors woke him up and he stood, pointed his head to the ceiling and HOWLED for about 8 seconds even he was shocked when he did it. He never reproduced the sound again, as much as we tried.

This happens at my house too. We have a husky and a lab. Husky howls, lab tries her best. 😂 more of a high-pitched “arf! arf! ARF!” while husky sings the song of his people lol.

I saw a car with one single decal affixed to the back that just said VEGAN and that’s it. And I thought how amusing it was because of the cliché of how vegans always need to let you know they’re vegan and this was the quintessentially efficient example of that punchline. Which isn’t to say I’m against the ethical treatment of animals, because I’m not. It’s just the messengers are so insufferable that no one wants them around.

It’s not defensive. Do you know how the dog was acquired? Do you know a lot of these dogs get abandoned and need rescue and foster homes. If you don’t then you shouldn’t make pissbaby comments about how the animal is suffering (when you don’t even know the acquisition or quality of life).
