Asian poor is making less then 5 dollars a day, but having no rent because you build your own house out of bambo, a month worth of rice is only 4 days of working, and if you feel like having fish you usually catch one within 3 hours. All in all you have nothing, but life is chill, there is peace in your community and your wife and kids love you. And the one time a month you eat fried chicken you are eating better then half of the west. So it still means something.
edit: Oh and your richer neighbors have a 1 gbit full duplex fiber internet connection for 25 bucks a month, no data limits and they share their wifi with you.
edit2: Oh and also affordable public healthcare. It's not that good, and there is a lot of waiting (but waaaay less then in Canada) but still better then the one you can't afford.
