So I recently got a 3D printer and made a Hollow Knight Dreamers' Xbox controllee stand for my GFs bday since she's a huge fan of the game. I think it turned out well so I wanted to share!
Awesome! π₯
This is the second post I've seen this week that's tempting me SO HARD to buy a 3D printer π
Your local library most likely has 3D printers if you want to dip your toes into the hobby before making the investment
It's very rewarding! But I'd be lying if I say it wasn't a lot of work and difficult to get right. My main challenge for this project was leveling the bed to get the printer to print the odd angles properly.
Yeah, that's mainly what's still stopping me. It's just another rabbithole that's going to absorb and bankrupt me because I won't get any of my actual work done π
But I think you really did great. Looks smooth, clean and minimal. Very stylish even if you're not a fan. Looks great with the white controller, which I also have and still love the look of.
Did you also model these?
Partially!
I took models from printables.com, tweaked them in Fusion and did the scaling in Cura. Chatgpt is honestly your best friend in getting the settings right. I think it's very accessibl. I got a beginner printer, Creality ender 3 v2 for 70 bucks and the cheapest PLA, Sunlu for 16 bucks per roll. It doesn't have to be difficult or cost a lot. I love this hobby!
Do you think it would also be possible to have it printed by a company? I know there sites where you can upload then order the 3 printed model, but with your own printer you obviously have more control over the outcome.
Probably yeah, though it might cost you quite a bit! I put the model online: https://www.printables.com/model/1349581-hollow-knight-xbox-controller-stand
Depending on where you live I could also print it for you and send it over. DM me if you'd like to discuss!
Wondering if they also have one for the PS5.
Anyway thanks for the idea, might buy one as a gift someday.
Nice minimalistic design
Yooo that's sick
