I heard that in kasugas voice… those games were such an incredible ride
About half way in Infinite Wealth now, man, I love every second.
It’s been a loooooong time since a game made me tear up as a grown ass man… but kasuga cuts through my soul like a hot knife in butter. Enjoy that ride too! It’s just as good as the first if not better!
Also the island bit is REALLY fun too! I spent hours and hours on it like the business in the first!
Have you done the dating apps? 😂😂
The ending with that Sheena Ringo song is just fantastic
His karaoke song in Like A Dragon really gut punched me. Got a terrible score because I was crying. I still haven't leveled up in my life and I'm still trying to be a hero. I hope I can be even a little bit like Ichiban someday.
Kasuga is something else. He is partially someone I always wanted to be. The way he handles ANYTHING is inspiring!
I did the island for about 2 hours and plan on going back for hours and hours but wanted to see what will happen in the story so bad.
The business in the first one got me hooked too, I remember one night I played exclusively that lol
Dating apps I only did the tutorial part lol got a wife and feel bad for doing stuff like that in the game 😅
I love the reboot with Kasuga but was was bummed with how badly they represented my home of Honolulu. When I worked in Yokohama I felt like I knew the place already because of how accurate the city modeling was. I took tons of comparison shots while I was there. It was extremely impressive! But running around in Waikiki and farting around in Ala Moana (Anaconda Mall in game) felt super foreign to me, even though they're my stomping grounds. The local dialect and culture was super butchered as well. Still loved the game, just had to accept it's extremely loosely based on Hawaii with seemingly minimal effort.
I wonder if Yokohama locals feel the same way I do.
Kaiji Tang has such a good voice for a loveable goofball hero.
hes right
Average Western publisher: Help, our pirate game developed over three countries with tax money has been in devleopment hell for nearly a decade.
Yakuza team: please enjoy this fully functional pirate simulation spin-off that we've developed in like half a year inbetween two giant JRPGs and a reboot of Super Monkey Ball, before we move on to a new IP and a comeback of Virtua Fighter. No, you will never find a glitch in our games.
Different standards. Western studio does asset flips every year, you call them lazy garbage. Japanese studio does it, they're the greatest developers in the history of the world.
Western studio reuses assets and somehow makes them worse.
Japanese studio reuses assets and actually manages to both improve on them and fold them into the story.
Yes we get it. If Western studio does thing, it's bad. If Japanese studio does same thing, it's amazing. I'm well aware of your mindset, this is a common sentiment of the online hivemind.
That’s the man right there, the legend who’s name literally means #1
Man, Ichiban must've not enjoyed 2016 No Man's Sky and pre-Switch2 Scarlet/Violet.
To be fair Yakuza has always been based.
How exactly does one get their hair all goofy like that?
It was accident because he wanted a punch perm and the hairstylist fucked it up because it was her first time doing it
Please tell me that's the real reason. I've never actually played any of the Yakuza games (not for lack of wanting, just never had the chance) so I have no idea. But that is a great explanation.
It is hes freshly out of prison and its been like 20 years. The young hairstylist didn't know what he was asking for.
Yeah, she says that nobody gets punch perms anymore while Ichiban is looking at the mirror incredulously. Adachi laughing from his car makes the scene for me.
Blackbeard laughing at Nishiki for a messed up haircut is peak.
You absolutely need to play Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. I can't remember the last time I played a game that was just dripping with love. Every part of the game just felt lovingly crafted by a team who wanted to make it and not just a corporate mandate.
I'll always up vote Ichiban
It's also pretty bad when they lock modes or ng+ to paid dlc.
Wonder why he didn't mention that one.
Same reason the players never mention it. When this studio does it, it's a good thing.
Ichi bud knows something
Kasuga knows ball.
I love yakuza but I want it with virtua fighter combat.
Alot of the 'gamers' on this sub don't mind it. Mention their favorite game that was released unfinished and they go bonkers
Throwing shade on modern shitty business practices we love to see it
Pirate Yakuza has entered the chat. I just couldn't like it
I swear Yakuza's quality control must be done by the characters themselves.
Every game has bugs. But Yakuza games barely had any.
Im going to say something. If your console or your computer hiccups on reading a game. This can create bugs in any game.
Now with that being said I never ran into any bugs in any yakuza game
I also hate all games released in Michigan (a crappy state)
When did gamers become so entitled? No game is perfect, especially at launch. Every game in the history of gaming has bugs.
There’s a massive difference between imperfect and a buggy fucking mess it’s a spectrum
And tbf the yakuza games always come out in a good state atleast to my knowledge
For the amount of quality and how fast they pump them out, they are quite impressive.
I’m sure they exist, but in all my years of playing the franchise I’ve never so much as seen a glitch or bug.
I've only experienced a few janky positioning bugs in Yakuza: like a a dragon at launch but infinite wealth and the previous games were a glitch free experience for me.
I've played them all and experienced a singular bug in Infinite Wealth where Ichiban refused to change out of his swimwear after leaving the ocean. That's it.
That’s a feature
Only one I've gotten was a softlock in Isshin. Bumped into a drunk guy on a small bridge and Ryoma got stuck between the guy's foot and the edge of the bridge, completely unable to move.
Thankfully my last save was just 3 minutes prior to that, so all I really had to do was talk to 2 NPCs to catch up.
the ragdoll physics were pretty buggy in Yakuza Kiwami 2 but it just made the game funny
Absolutely, RGG Studio has a solid track record. Their games usually launch polished and stable, which is rare these days.
The HDR implementation in Pirate Yakuza is awful, the first time I've played a LAD game and been disappointed with them lol
You were disappointed in the game because of HDR..?
