Fantastic movie btw
I hated that woman so much and loved Andy đ˘
Right??? It is sooo good. I also love watching and reading people's thoughts and speculations on what was not released about the ritual and the demon and all that.
I didnât really understand all of that at then at the end the boy is normal
interesting that is one of our regular complaints with the movie. On top of it not having the nerve to deliver a memorable ending.
Lying in a pool bleeding out cuddling a corpse with a half eaten face is plenty memorable to me.
I remember it for the villain that had won giving up for no reason. The filmmakers just didn't have the nerve to kill the two younger children.
The children did nothing to earn their survival. They didn't defeat the villain, they didn't convince the villain to change their mind. The villain just chose to lose.
You donât remember the young girl calling her mom, and her freezing in shock, which is when she ran away? How exactly did the mom win again? Pretty sure that moment was enough reason for a pause. Itâs fine to have issues with the movie or not like it, but all context is being ignored for the sake of âkill more charactersâ, which is an odd take imo.
The issue is she didn't call her mom and the villain didn't think she was being called her mom.
I get it I commented on a thread of people that love this movie with an alternate view but thinking that's good writing I bet you loved the "save martha" scene in superman v batman.
Did the villain not consider she would have to kill a child when she went through the process of getting 3 children to kill? She just murdered her friend and another child which she did seem to have moments with without hesitation. She put a demon in another and did terrible things to him against his will. Then just as she is about to win the child saying the word mom was what undoes her. Thats weak and lazy storytelling.
You can enjoy the movie because it does legitimately have some decent moments but it's far from a great movie. I typically do not care for children in movies but felt the ones in this one did a decent job. They did a good job at building tension overall. Also enjoyed some of the slapstick moments they put in to help break up the tension. I'm just saying plot holes are pulling the movie down.
I had a similar discussion with people about Sinners which I do think is so far the top horror movie of the year. It is great but you can't just ignore the plot holes in movies. You shouldn't be blind to somethings flaws just because you love it.
I liked talk to me more than this one, but Iâm having trouble following your argument. The issue is, what happened in the movie never happened? But it did and was lazy? She was quite literally in the process of killing the child you say she never considered sheâd have to kill⌠wanting her daughter back is blinding her to how horrible her actions really are, or at least diminishing how awful they are as the end result will justify the means. Her hearing that maybe made her snap out of it a bit? I dunno, fine to take issue with it, but to flat out deny things that happen in the movie I do not understand.
What are you claiming I am denying. The girl did not call her mom. She called for her mom. Based on the one time I will watch the movie it did not seem to me that the villain thought she was being called mom.
The comment of did she not consider having to kill the child at the end is based on the you saying she had a moment of clarity about killing a child. Only after killing an adult, killing a older child, torturing and putting a demon in another child.
This is one of those things where you have a villain who has committed countless acts of evil but now that the writer wants them to lose they falter about committing the final one. It just screams weak writing.
Sorry itâs confusing when the criticisms are so hyperbolic it seems to be denying what was in the movie. People can interpret things differently, i shared how i interpreted it and you said it never happened. For her to call out to her mom that was never in the movie and maybe only very briefly mentioned would be an odd choice by the filmmakers. It made more sense in âwhat could I say to make this lunatic who is obsessed with her dead daughter stop drowning me, oh, call her momâ. Didnât she even have a line saying what sheâd give to hear those words again? Itâs almost like they were leading up to it.
The girl did not call her mom. She called for her mom.
There are different opinions on this, but I do not think the girl called for her mom. There was no mention of the kids' mom or their relationship with her, but the woman did ask her to call her mom, so I am of the opinion that she called it out in the last ditch attempt to stun her to escape. The woman thought the ritual worked and that was her daughter's spirit calling out to her. She didn't have a moment of clarity, imo, she thought the ritual was over and she "won". And then she didn't.
The issue is she didn't call her mom and the villain didn't think she was being called her mom.
Did you start playing with your phone at the climax of the movie or something? Or are you being intentionally misleading and/or dishonest?
I actually agree with you somewhat. I loved the movie and thought it was great. But, I kept reading comments about how bleak the movie was so I think I was expecting a little more of a bleak ending.
