Spoonman!
It's gud.
I drove by them filming a scene with Sweet Tooths truck one day, always wondered if my car can be seen in the background of that part lol
Series was fun. I went in blind not having played the originals and enjoyed it thoroughly. Not exactly high brow but perfect for a blazed gamer looking for carnage.
I am genuinely stunned we didn't get a new twisted metal during the battle Royale boom. Also if they do I hope it is going to be compatible with my sim racing rig lol.
You can download Crossout, it's a F2P that let's you build your own vehicles. It's decently close to Twisted Metal game.
The last game sucked BAD.
The "modes" were so stupid it was the only game in the series I didn't finish, and I played / owned them all even the PSP game. I am pretty sure I played, and beat, every Twisted Metal game. Hell the reason I bought the PS1 was just to play the 1st Twisted Metal.
The flying robot mode made me quit the last game. They ruined the pure fun or car combat.
If ~ IF ~ they made a new game they would have to go back to it's roots or it'll fail.
Agreed, the PS3 game was just bad. Why only allow us to play 3 characters? Thats what really pissed me off. I love playing the individual characters to get their stories. Black imo was the best for this, but the ps1 TMs are great, 2 probably being my favorite
Black was very good. The helicopter boss at the end of black pissed me off till I figured out how to beat it. Even then, it wasn't easy.
My personal favorite was also 2.
I loved Twisted Metal so much I played, tried, and even owned a few of the other car combat games. Vigilante 8, 1 and 2, probably being the best of the knock-offs.
Even Small Brawl?
Loved small brawl as a kid
I did play it but I am not sure if i beat it. I rented it, I did not own it.
Small Brawl had some pretty fun maps,
I remember liking season 1, but I can't honestly remember a single thing about it. Guess I'll have time for a re-watch!
It was basically a prequel season setting up characters with their iconic cars & weapons.
And they had a mini battle at the end of the season. Came off as a kinda teaser of the real thing. But was entertaining nonetheless.
The first season wasn't perfect but it was so much better than it could have been and had a lot of fun moments. Trailer looks fun so I'm hopeful.
there's plenty of destruction derby games. i don't see a twisted metal game being AAA ever again without a bunch of modern day gaming tweaks that'll just piss everyone off.
Ok this looks good but Neve didn’t come back? Her role seemed like it would be expanded in season 2
I kind of liked the show. I think if they up the carnage and fun in season 2 it’ll be a bigger hit.
I've been praying for a new game for years, and like many people I thought the show was a sign that a new game was on its way. Unfortunately it was revealed that Sony canceled development on a new game last year that was being worked on by Firesprite.
can they do some kinda twisted metal rocket league hybrid
Honestly feel like Rocket League was proof you can do unrealistic physics in a car game and people will still flock to it if the gameplay is good. That's really the sticker. It needs to focus on satisfying gameplay and just nail the aesthetic, we don't need a deep story mode or cinematics (those are absolutely nice bonuses), but these days a game like this would live and die in its multi-player so the gameplay needs to be solid.
Would love a new game if it returned to form. TM Black or TM 1-4 where you play individuals and not just one of 3 people like the PS3 version.
The new Season is gonna be so good. Looks like they are going for the crazy.
You only want a twisted metal game if it's done by icognito (formerly singletrac). That's the studio that did 1,2, Black, Critical Depth, and Rogue Trip.
3, 4, and Small Brawl were done by 989 studios and those three aren't very good (love small brawls idea and maps though, it's the gameplay is the problem).
Oh man that would be amazing. Too bad Sony sucks and it mostly likely wouldn’t be cross play.
Genuinely surprised that the show was popular enough to get a season 2 but there's no rumblings about a new game.
Same but with castlevania, devil may cry, etc
Castlevania TECHNICALLY got a new game this year.
Remake of Haunted Castle in the Dominus Collection. It actually makes Haunted Castle an actually good game.
oh nice, i knew about the collection but not the remake
If you haven't played Bloodstained: ROTN, you should do so immediately.
My only guess is that and its just a guess. is that The Ip's combo of horror and racing games is kinda a niche that doesn't scream triple A.
I lean towards more that David jaffe hasn't had a hit in forever. The last attempt to reboot the series failed. Iirc his studio folded. And I think he's a bit of a jerk who probably won't sell the ip. Honestly I'd settle for a remake of twisted metal 2.
I wouldn't trust David Jaffe with anything nowadays considering how he had issues getting past a destructible wall in Metroid Dread.
Definitely this. It's not like it has to be a gigantic budget or that they need to reinvent anything. People would go nuts for just a simple, remastered Twisted Metal 2. Maybe add some cars from other games and more maps, but the same game would feel pretty fun and fresh after this many years of having nothing like it.
That's the bottom line. There has been so many games that have tried to emulate twisted metal and they always lack that magic. Although I did enjoy me some vigilante 8 and that star wars reskin
Yeah, Vigilante 8 was a good game. There were a couple of knock-offs that were pretty fun, too. One was Twisted Metal with submarines. I think it was made by the original TM studio.
Damn missed the sub one.
Critical Depth. Made by singletrac( incognito), they also made Rogue Trip.
Did anyone else play Wreckless? This thread got me thinking about that game. It wasn't exactly like v8 or twisted metal but it was a fun car combat game from japan.
If it's his property I don't see how that would make him a jerk. If you want similar vehicular combat games I'm sure someone could make one without calling it Twisted Metal. But I don't know anything about David Jaffe, maybe he's a jerk for other reasons.
Sorry yeah bad phrasing. I meant he's some kind of asshole but can't remember the details (I could be completely wrong. Not that he's a jerk for not selling the ip.
All I remember is him being mad about Kratos maturing and not being a raging asshole in the newer gow games
War hammer speed freaks is WIDLY popping off over the last couple of months. People do want this kind of gameplay it seems.
I'd buy a new Twisted Metal on day one
I would too, as long as it was more like 1-3 and less like Black.
Maybe check out speed freaks on steam! I love warhammer but I hate Orks so I’m not a fan unfortunately. But the game looks sick
This issue is the licensing, currently.
they could make a game thats basically a hub for a variety of game modes. rocket league type game with twisted metal cars would be amazing
I for sure thought I was going to hate the first season but somehow liked it. I saw a clip of a fight from season 2 though .. they drive straight down a runway...
Yeah me too. I didn't hate season 1. Wasn't wowed by it. Saw they got renewed for a season 2 and my only thought was "wow good for them. Guess it means it's popular. Where's the new game?"
It was supposed to get a new one but it got cancelled for some reason.
There was a live service game in early development but it got cancelled after a round of layoffs.
