Tigers are solitary. To live to an old, lonely age is much more relatable for men and women these days. Most of us will have a partner and then die alone after a couple decades.
Mama tigers raise their kids all alone without protection. The life of tigers are poetic.
I relate to Tigers a lot more. They are the true kings of the jungle.

This guy doesnāt hunt, he just eats. His harem does the hunting.
Not exclusively, they are thrown out of pride as teenagers, often as pairs or trio of 18 month old male lions. They become a threat to their father as they begin to become sexually interested in aunts and even mother.
Ultimately the male lions force them out, usually after they've been watched flirting with 'his' females.
They leave pride and go off alone for a couple of years, feeding themselves all the time.
They only get to join a pride as successful adults, 3-4 years old after proving themselves worthy of the females. If pride has a male they typically fight for status, but sometimes the males get too old and leave like this guy.

Are there? I got all my facts from The Lion King. When theyāre solitary they hunt. Mens gotta eat right? In adolescent packs they hunt too, same reason. But in the pride they do as little as possible. Lazy bastards.
I mean, all animals do a little work as possible. Male lions also conteibute to the hunt, but usually as the ambushers whereas the females tend to chase the prey towards the male. We just see the females on tv a lot more since it's more i teresting to see a chase than an ambush

My Mother-in-law has been "alone" for almost 20 years now.

This has to be the first time I see an old lion. You can see it in his face just tired, toothless and almost confused looking. This was very interesting as you mostly picture this young, agile, strong killers and this one did all of those things at some point but now just waiting for the final roll call.
IIRC they typically will have been forced out of their pride before they get this old and on their own they typically dont last that long.

He held his own even remaining in a pride, also has a famous fight with a younger bigger lion, loonkito was all heart didnāt back down as it kept playing out, he lost his brother ambogga. Had cubs reach teenage years. So very sadly like many lions he was unfortunately killed by humans last year

We watched a season of lion shoes on Animal Planet I believe, it was tragic to watch how poachers are still ending the lives of these glorious animals... merely to use them as a trophy on their wall. I realise importation has now been banned but i don't doubt they still get through somehow. Some people don't deserve respect!

Joke aside, morbid curiosity is strong for some. Either because they haven't yet found their tolerance threshold, or because it's legitimately higher than most.
To use myself as an example: I haven't seen death (of animals, not insects and fish) occur in real life, but I am curious about the feeling often described by people who have witnessed it.
I'm not curious enough to seek 'death witnessing' out (despite opportunities to observe the slaughter of animals), but it has been enough to watch a few videos.
In my experience, I display a middling curiosity about morbidity. I've yet to find my threshold, but I'm not keen on actually finding it.

Read a crazy stat that something like 80% of male lions die from fights with other male lions. There was a famous group of brothers who terrorized their territory and killed so many other lions that the game wardens thought about killing them. Crazy.
