Dude's just like: "You know what? I'm going to turn into a ball."
Oh, and a sail for a boat.
And a hangglider.
Ryan North's run is fucking hilarious when it comes to how Reed uses his powers.
This type of stuff will look horrifyingly uncanny valley in live action though
Which is why I want it LOL
Do you? Remember M.O.D.O.K.?
modok would have worked better if they committed to him being an ugly monster. as he was he looked like a guy from Spy Kids 2
This exactly
Or extremely campy. Or both.
That's the whole appeal of it ngl
Yes.
What's your question?
I think you could pretty easily avoid uncanny valley as long as you don't mess with his face too much. That's the advantage of having a full body suit.
No it already looks bad in some of the trailers and clips so far and that’s just when his limbs are stretching to be longer
Reed made a better boat than Elasti-Girl did. ;)
Nothing is better than a son motorboating his mom while his sister is on top
:o

I'm with you. I've thoroughly enjoyed all of North's run so far.
North is great.
He's the Dinosaur Comics guy for those of you not following creators.
His Squirrel Girl run was amazing.
Awww didn't include the Eye-noculars from earlier in North's run. Really love this run it's been fun episodic day in the life for the first family. Fave issues have been the kid's spotlight issues and brothers-in-law issue.
This is some Plastic Man shit
My thoughts exactly - it reminds me of some of the really out-there stuff Jack Cole did back in the classic old school Plastic Man books.
A double edged sword, either say they want this, and then when you get it, you get them hating the sight of it in live action.
Oh ma legs are long, yes they’re very very long
Needs to take some notes from the Incredibles
Ryan North apparently read a bunch of Plastic Man to prep.
If they did these crazy stuff, they didn’t need to change Ms Marvel powers to begin with 😩
To be fair, movie was finished months before this comic
Honestly it looks better on a page it can look really creepy on screen
Question that may cause a war, who has more variety with their powers Reed or Elongated Man, I already know that plastic man is basically a god, but what about the lesser known stretchers?
Just not the eyes binoculars thing, please
arent all these things just things that Elasti-Girlor MRS incredible did?
aha, these remind me of Elastigirl from The Incredibles
stretching powers do not translate well to live action so.. i hope not lmao it reminds me of how ppl wanted MODOK to be fairly comic accurate and when they got him that ish was terrible
It’s a tough balance because what works for Reed’s powers on a comic book page can easily become body horror when it’s a real person contorting their body on a movie screen.
But I’m with you - there’s opportunity to be really creative here and I’m looking forward to seeing what they dream up!
Yeah, seeing Pedro Pascal nonchalantly turn into a sailboat while doing his signature smile is gonna make some people recoil in fear
Lmao now I need Pedro Pascal as Thomas the Tank Engine
Ferb I know what we're gonna do today
It'd unfortunately become "MCU bad" meme fuel
Or just entertaining selfaware memeable content. Bully Maguire, the Star Wars prequel trilogy or Shrek are getting increasing appreciation amidst meme culture. Audiences aren't dismissive of campiness anymore and rather see a fresh and authentic take on comic books characters like Superman wearing trunks, or stylized noir like The Batman than another hyperrealistic Marvel flick. All it requires is good tonal balance.

As long as his head stays the same and it's just his costume stretching and contorting it should be find.
