My entire life I thought they didn’t have feathers do to how media portrayed them according to scientists now those same scientists wanna come out of god knows where and say “oh yeah by the way they may have had feathers and sounded way more terrifying than we expected” I’ll never let this slide till the day I die

Yeah I know I don’t live under a rock to me it’s just like wow the entire time Jurassic world, dinosaur train/& king, and all forms of dinosaurs themed media have been throwing around basically featherless probably malnourished t-Rex’s I’m more curious to see what else is discovered could there by chance be proto-flyers and if the t-rex had feathers dose that mean they’ve bean mixing up raptor fossils with creatures in the same family tree

Dino nerds when a redditor makes a meme based off of outdated dinosaur appearances ( T. rex is now believed to have had little to no feathers on its body due to a few scaly skin imprints and the idea that it probably would have overheated)

Me when a Dino nerd meticulously breaks down every aspect of a joke, to explain how it’s “not scientifically accurate” (ironically proving my point) :

One does not simply

Listen, dinosaurs were the peak of existence for many of us as children. I'm sorry you had a bad childhood, but these details are important.

They were definitely a construction vehicle or astronaut kid

No, they are autistic. That means it was trains.

I would make a joke about that, but my bf is a model trainer so I wound up enjoying it by proxy.

From my very limited understanding, there was debate still on it, because those imprints were likely from the bottom/stomach area of a T.Rex where there would be no feathers.

it whas actually from all over the dino back, legs, belly, tail, head, all the size of about a postage stamp but still enough to say nha to the feathery dinosaur

I'm pretty sure the general consensus has gone back to "T-Rex was featherless" but I could be wrong

Dino nerd here: Adult T-rexes did not, in fact, have feathers.

At their size, feathers wouldn't have any effect on body temperature, it's for the same reason that large mammals in warm biomes (elephants, rhinos and hippos) have little to no hair

Seen so many people complaining about the dinosaurs in the new Jurassic film and the previous world ones, I understand the want for accuracy but that's clearly not what the films care about any more they have a design language to follow to make the films feel more connected and their are so many other things you could criticise the films for

The big problem with Jurassic Park is everything after the first one kinda sucked and missed the point of the first movie, and of course the book. The 2nd kinda got the point, but very obviously fell off because the reality was the 2nd movie was just an excuse to put dinosaurs in LA to appease the audience who wanted big dino destruction.

The moves should've simply rebranded to, "Jurassic Park, we know you just want to watch dinosaurs do cool shit" and do the usual blockbuster story where the cast exist just to tie the cool scenes together.

firekitten52004

I agree jp3 and jw2,3,4 definitely feel like dinosaurs do cool things I think the others keep the message just enough

But my comment was more about people dislikeing the films because of the unscientific dinosaurs and that I think the complaints is bit pointless when there are other aspects of the films more worthy of criticism and that the designs won't be changed much because there is a distinction visual cohesion in the way they are presented that is necessary for the franchise aesthetic to continue Even in the new film with the more currently accurate spinosaurus there is still a style to it that makes it fit and I've seen people say it's not good enough

Ah the dino nerd who only has what some paleontologist says today and may contradict themselves tomorrow with some new information. Nobody will ever know for sure.
