I guess you can get a browser extension to remove it, but still it's not a solution. We are being forced with more and more stupid designs and the worst thing is that most of the time they get changed from quite good and clear interfaces.

Ever since Reddit removed the ability to view crossposts, I've been using Google Image Search on the first frame of my posts to try and find crossposts so I can see comments that I didn't even know existed before.
I can't tell you how annoying it is when I click on "Exact matches" and there's a ton of results from Reddit... only for 99% of them to just be my original post, auto-translated into random languages.
They are dumbasses. Yes, I use English, but that doesn't mean you have to translate a video from my native fucking language!
I'm in your same situation. I mostly watch videos in english so I have YT set to English, but now some italian videos are auto-dubbed by YT and it's so utterly annoying!!!
Worse, on a desktop broweser, YT shorts DON'T fckn have the Audio Tracks setting anywhere in the UI! grrr

I use revanced so I was able to change the settings so I can choose language. But this feature is really bad, ngl. I hope that option to disable this will be added by default

I have worse, for one channel, every video I open gets audio translated in english instead of the native language of the channel, which is my language.
YouTube aims for the uneducated and the incapable users. Chances are, if you are from a non-english country but you speak English fluently, you are not the target audience. You are not the person susceptible to stupid ads, useless premium features and mindless consumption of low effort content.
YouTube would trade 100 of you for a single child or boomer who will bring them much more money than you ever will.
It's funny because we are also the kind that makes the YT content for those children or boomers.
I am from a non-English speaking country and speak English fluently. I watch content in my own native language. I also try to watch content in Japanese for getting input. It goes terrible both ways.
If that was the logic behind it, the feature would've been to exist ONCE on my computer before me clicking a toggle that makes it go away forever, because as the user I feel no need for it.
Instead it's on by default and has to be manually changed PER VIDEO, even when I'm logged in and have very specific language preferences that I had to go out of my way to choose for Google since they couldn't just take it from the algorithm that recommends me videos based on what I've been watching in the first place.
At this point, I can't even call it incompetence. They're pushing their own agenda whether users like it or not untill they get so annoyed with it they agree to it.

The fact, that you can't disable it being automatic, is the worst part. Give it to me as an on demand feature and all would be fine, but stop forcing this crap on me.

Same on my phone. Worst part is when I tap on "See original", it only does that for a few comments under that post. Most of them will still remain translated

There's an extension that gets rid of it. Can't remember it's name but it's something like "No Autodub" or similar
They won't auto translate if you are not logged in. So deleting your account should get rid of it.
This happens with me and ads 70% Spanish ads know 0% Spanish

Dumb question - how do you turn this ON? I know someone who actually dreams about this kind of thing for watching appliances/products video instructions only available in other languages that he doesn’t speak. I tried telling that machine translation isn’t nearly there yet and will probably be horrible, especially for technical stuff, but he’s still adamant on trying a way to auto-translate audio.
But, how will they justify the billions they've spent on AI development if they don't foist it on you at every turn? Won't someone think of the poor shareholders?
It sounds surprisingly good, tbh. Kind of useful for watching videos from foreign creators. That is, at least, until there’s foreign text inside the video.

If you guys are using SmartTube (like the better YouTube with no ads and a lot of cool features) you can disable this by selecting "default" as the preferred language.

It is not, I tried to find solutions without browser addons for years.
It's crazy that this isn't an option the user can choose to toggle on or off.
I've written several suggestions to them to disable it by default or make people opt in for the languages they want translated, but they rather make me curse their damn robot every time.

I hate autotranslate not only because it's translating videos I want to watch in their original language, but the ai voices are so annoying that I don't enjoy watching that video with it and the original voice remover is so scuffed you can't actually hear most of the other sounds, background sounds and edited sounds.

I'm gonna hijack the top comment to inform you guys that you can disable Auto-Translation for both Reddit as well as YouTube via a Browser-Extension. At least for Firefox, but it should be possible for other browsers as well.
