I picture this laminated with a movable red star that says "you are here". After you blow the candles out on the cake, you move the star.
That's the most depressing thing
The milestones are cool though. Too bad I can't read them from the promotional image lol
I kinda love it, in a weird way. It puts life into perspective.
God damn copper!
Ea-Nasir ain’t getting away with this one
Oh yeah he is, and he's taking the complaint with him!
its that damn waxed lightly weathered copper cut stairs
Isn't this based on the minecraft armor meme?
It is
Life doesn’t peak in the 20s lol! I wouldn’t even go back to my 20s if I could. Life gets better as you age if you are doing it right.
Yeah this is a weird zoomer meme or something. I have had way more fun in my 30's than 20's. 30's is when you still have energy and also money. Oh and most importantly you no longer feel obligated to give a shit about whether anyone thinks you're cool.
My 30s are going rad. 40s and 50s onwards might suck though when the energy levels die down.
Will have to slow down in sports hobbies :’(
It feels like 30s are when you peak in life
I thought the same thing, but my 40s are better than my 30s.
Agree, I’m 43 and every decade has been better than the previous one
that's because you were born at the right time mfker
Start prioritizing your health right now, and your 40s and 50s will be great too. Drink little, eat well, exercise often, and things will keep getting better and better*!
* accidents and calamities may apply.
It's way older than zoomers. The sentiment that "it's all downhill after highschool" is stupidly common, especially in older folks.
Well everyone's different I guess. My 30s suck. My 20s sucked too but at least i had some energy and dreams still. Now I'm just empty.
What do we learn? Everything sucks!
You guys have money in your 30s?
This thread is so fucking depressing. Yeah dude, I do. I was poor as shit and hooked on benzos throughout my early and mid 20s until I went to rehab, then back to school and got a marketable degree and graduated at 28. 7 years later I'm making a decent 6 figure salary, just bought a house, and am awake at 5am on vacation in a hotel across the country next to my wife because my brain is still on East Coast time.
It's not too late to stop being broke and pathetic if you want to. Go do something about it.
If a Redditor can do it, anyone can
All you have to do is get a 4-yr degree while working full time!
Congrats brother and happy to hear this.
The job market was very different 7 years ago
“Entry level” barely exists anymore
It’s totally possible if you don’t have a family to care for, can spend all your time working full time while going to school, have the means to pay for higher edu, don’t experience excessive burnout, and have a family you can live with for free that will feed you!
Idk why everyone doesn’t do it, are they stupid?
Nah I’ll just complain and blame everyone else for my problems /s
30's is when you still have energy and also money.
Most people have kids in their early 30s if they haven't already, so this is more true for childless people.
I just started going to parties and raves and fests at 30 because I can finally afford them and, exactly like you said, for some reason I feel way less pressure to be cool and can just enjoy myself or going solo. Dunno why
This is gospel here, the twenties were probably my worst years.
Three years into my 30s I'm down a lot of weight, I have visible muscle definition and my quality of partners improved 1000%
Sometimes your quality of life has nothing to do with you "doing it right" and has everything to do with how the people around you treat you.
You can choose the people around you as you age that’s one of the benefits.
Amen to that! Surround yourself with people who lift you up. Plus, life is a gift and your ‘peak’ is never set at a certain age. Many people hit their peak much later in life. It’s all about perspective!
I have to disagree with that. The reason for the loneliness epidemic is that you can't choose the people around you. People are all on different schedules these days and it's getting impossible to meet up.
Well in 15-25 you are most resillent, usually strong (in sense of general, stamina, endurance strenght and flexibility) And still there is a lot of new things around. For me ppl who say smth like, peak is after 40 or 50 must have rly sad life during 20s. And I am saying that as a male born in PL in 1982 during matrial law times.
30s: I feel good about who I am, I have deep friendships with people who accept me, I'm married to the kindest person I've ever met who also happens to be a total piece/freak, I have a 1 y.o. son who is the funnest guy, I have disposable income, I have a job that keeps my brain busy and my body active (carpenter). I spent my 20s working on myself, forging friendships, teaching myself how to have a healthy relationship, and now my life rules. I'm not rich, health insurance sucks, there's plenty to complain about... but I get to bike my son to daycare every day.
Self-pity is unhealthy, even if it's true. If you know the 9-5 life is going to be hell for you, figure something else out.
Not true for me, but we must remember how the "system" worked in the past. You basically helped your father/mother as early as you could in their crafts and maybe they paid someone else to love with him and teach you their craft.
Or they married you off so they don't have to feed you anymore.
Or you just died as a child.
Honestly, seeing how things are now. Goals.
Lucky bastards
…and often were actual bastards. But none would have called themselves lucky.
Honestly though, this modern day idea that life is just too hard to live is simple escapist BS. We are capable of withstanding so much more than the superficial, alarmist, self-pitying voices keep crying about.
I get what you are saying, but it’s also all relative. Comparing the struggles of life now to back then and saying “see, you must be happy because look how miserable they are” is like forced to eat food you find disgusting because there are people across the world who are hungry. It doesn’t make the food less disgusting and doesn’t make it easier.
People can have it all and still be depressed. I grew up poor and have worked some shitty jobs in life, yet now that I have a good job and am financially stable I still have bad days that I suffer through. I refuse to feel guilty for something that’s out of my control, I’ve played that game and it makes everything worse. Struggles are all relative and it takes real empathy to recognise that. My life has been difficult by any standard. My gf on the other hand has grown up comfortable with a loving family, support, and no trauma. Things that she struggles with can be pieces of cake to me but I never view it like that.
“I order the food, you cook the food, and the customer gets the food. We do that for 40 years, and then we die.”
-Squidward Tentacles
cant believe copper influence is this strong
i cant believe people actually recognize it.
i didn't think minecraft was that popular atm. i feel like im the only person i know irl that actually keeps up with it.
Why is job censored
Shitty 9-5 job started for me in early 20's. You'll find meaning outside the job evetually, just keep looking.
you guys only work 9-5?
I work 8 to 4
OP most likely a kid or a bot
That or someone who doesn’t have a 9-5 and can only go off their imagination.
There won’t be any retirement left for most of us out here in Asia.
Yeah, who tf is retiring???
Waxed lightly weathered cut copper stairs
This is related to the Minecraft copper debate right?
Do everything you can to not live like this
While there's nothing you can do to avoid this. What are you gonna do, quit your job and starve to death on the streets ?
Work hard, Immigrate to the European Union and work hard.
No
Then what's the plan here exactly?
The copper is spreading
Peenix is leaking again
If you sit in a shitty 9 to 5 job between 20 and retirement, that's probably on you bro.
My 30s were better than my 20s, which was better than my teens, let's see how my 40s turn out.
If my life is at its peak right now I will definitely paint a wall with my brain
It's not
That's why you push it to the limit walk along the razors edge
Bold of you to assume any of us are going to be able to retire
You’re allowed to have fun bro oh my fucking god
Yeah life does not peak in the 20s lmao.
Fuck sad posting. I am gonna enjoy my life
For the love of god, if your life peaks in your 20s you suck.
If you peaked at 20, I'm sorry but that's not life's fault
As a person who started working at 20, I would disagree
Then don't live that life lol
I'm 30 and my peak is still going up
This was made by a dude who peaked in high school
Great song.
I mean, what are laws if not man's feeble attempt to create artificial order in a universe where chaos is the only law? Do what you want, man, embrace the consequences of true freedom.
I'm 31 and have never been happier.
There is the 9-to-5, but there's also a lot of other things that take life awesome. Hanging out with people you love, exploring places you don't know, finding hobbies, etc, etc.
But a fuckton of videogames and anime tho
30s is when you have kids, and having kids is extremely enjoyable and rewarding
Nah 20s is for realizing how fucked up your upbringing was and trying to remedy that with a series of disastrous relationships until you realize that the best way to fix yourself is to be alone and learn cool things in your 30s. 30s is peak human. Confidence, some liquidity, freedom to learn, and just jaded enough to not give a fuck about consequence
It looks like a good progression in comparison to 6-21 shit job 200 years ago.
🎵 Birth.... school.... work.... death! 🎵
Yeah no. 20s are only fun if your family can support you, otherwise you're struggling every day to make ends meet until you finish your education. Work life is only shitty if you choose the wrong career path. If work doesn't feel like torture every day and you make a good salary it is actually pretty nice. If it is not you're free to switch jobs at any time.
The sad thing is that if you are priviledged enough. You can just skip the 40 years of dread via the method of being rich.
You can just become an artist. Which is not uncommon amonf the priviledged and is the reason, in my view, why modern art sucks so hard.
Its nepobabies who never had to struggle making vapid art (same goes for music btw)
We the people can change that very easily.
"The people" just voted to kill the planet ahead of schedule. "We the people" ain't solving shit.
... why are you starting the shitty job at 40? No, that starts straight after school. There is no peak. It all goes downhill after primary school starts.
The so-called peak is that few months where you preparing for your college after receiving the acceptance letter.
I’m 20 and work 8-5?…
OP, I wonder, what solution would you offer?
May I introduce you to 12-hour shifts where I only have to work 3 or 4 times a week. I could never work 5 days in a row and not go batshit crazy. People drive me nuts.
That’s why you need to tweak the “shitty 9-5 job" to be fun somehow
Life bottoms out at 20
I feel offended because it's 9-6 in my sh#t country.
from the view of a 20 year old
I just want to restart my life again with what I know so at least I can enjoy my first 18 years of life as I could have if not for wrong decisions.
Fuck Capitalism innit
Life peaks at 20? I was happier when I was 12.
Peak where?
Life......peaks here? :,(
Man, life in your 20s can be such a wild ride but your early 30s is where it’s at once you’re making real money. Glass House. White Ferrari. Live for New Year's Eve. Sloppy steaks at Truffoni's. Big rare cut of meat with water dumped all over it, water splashing around the table, makes the night SO MUCH more fun. After the club go to Truffoni's for sloppy steaks. They'd say; 'no sloppy steaks' but they can't stop you from ordering a steak and a glass of water, before you knew it we were dumping that water on those steaks! The waiters were coming to try and snatch em up, we had to eat as fast as we could! OHHH I MISS THOSE NIGHTS, I WAS A PIECE OF SHIT THOUGH.
simply get good job
The Problem with capitalism Lol
well if you live life like this, then yeah probably. but its your choice man, you can find a better way to live it.
Kinda depressing. Is that all we here to do? Make a few people rich while the rest of us slave away our whole lives just a few years of retirement if we’re lucky?
Wow is this really a meme format now lmao
im 17 and this scares me
Thank you for avoiding the j slur
Oh believing life peaks in your 20s will CERTAINLY fuck the rest of your life up
20s sucked ass. I'm much happier and healthier in my 40s
How did we get from Minecraft Copper complaints to here
What peak is there in 20s when you're broke af
Where does copper armor fit into this?
I wish it was possible to revolt as a earth. Everyone complain about their country no one doing anything
Lmao 20s being the golden years applies best if you aren't poor and have opportunities to get your degree / advance in a career.
My 20s were "Work every day of the year for f*** pennies to afford your bills and food for the family."
It's perception - in this picture - this person hates his life
Having a boring job is a choice.
But people often forget the good times you have within those seemingly boring times. The friends you always talked with and hung out with during lunch, freedom to do what you want (within reason of course), and even when you get older into your twenties, while you may feel burdened, I think it’s a great feeling to unleash yourself from the boundaries of your parents now that you’re able to do what you want in your freetime. And no matter the age, it’s nice to take a walk, to just release yourself of the thoughts on the world and focus on you. Whoever is reading this, no matter what, never lose your whimsy and spirit <3
There are also people that never had good times.
Find a job you don't hate then.
20s is the most traumatic when you’re supposed to have fun, whatever that is
Have fun in my 20s?
I finished school at 18 and started working right after (did a apprenticeship and then a 'real' job)
So not much time for fun
Hopefully society colapses in a way that alows us to enjoy life before we die
If we were born 100-500 years later, maybe that'd be a reality :v imagine it: AI and robots do most jobs, humans have either a society where everything's split evenly or universal basic income, those who want to work still can but do it for their own sake/enjoyment rather than to survive.
Bit unrealistic but don't think it's a 0% chance in a few hundred years, if humanity survives until then (might also require a third world war and some decades of governments being overthrown. Not sure)
Careful, people will start calling you a communist for wanting all to have enough to live on
Yeah the fucking irony of AI chuds saying "AI IS GOOD IT'LL ADVANCE HUMANITY" meanwhile all it fucking does is steal your hobbies and pollute hobbyist spaces while stealing your money and giving it to the rich.
If you call this out and say that with every AI replacing a person, billionaires and millionaires should be forced to pay into a social fund for unemployed people to live with dignity, suddenly you're a communist because "GRRRRRR I WANT 3 YACHTS NOT 2 YACHTS WHY SHOULD I CARE ABOUT YOU?!?!?".
It has to end. the Healthcare CEO murder was a warning shot, and capitalists continue to trample on the people who earn less money than they do.
They'll keep enforcing this system with less and less consent from the general population. AI and robotics keep improving, while birth rates keep dropping, it becomes easier to keep things under control while automation keeps growing, with robots and drones doing law enforcement.
There are over 300 million people in this country that spreads out over almost 4 millions square miles. Where a huge amount of people are armed. All I will say to those who seek to do what you said above, is good luck.
r/usdefaultism
on top, most of the armed people, are voting for the guy making this happen
It's becoming more and more obvious that Healthcare CEO was a one-off.
Communist! That’s called welfare and that’s a communist idea or something like that /s
Communism will never work because governance costs scale non-linearly, making it inevitably collapse into corrupt authoritarianism.
Capitalism also fails in the long run because it exists to maximize profit, which eventually depends on inefficient and distorted markets to survive.
A balanced system that combines socialism with free markets, where basic needs are covered, monopolies are regulated/socialized, and externalities are managed, has long been recognized by serious as the most economically effective model.
But it won't profit the already super rich people would it? That's why capitalism is better so that the rich can buy 5 more private jets while telling the poor to use bicycles to stop pollution! /s
is it not communism?
It's absolutely a 0% chance. Throughout history, it has always been "the nicest people get taken advantage of/killed; the assholes who are willing to sacrifice others for pennies are the ones who get in power." Shits never gonna change because nobody who is actually fit to lead "the right way" would last without someone tricking everyone else into believing they're faking niceness to try and do pop control/hold all the wealth.
Ned stark moment.
Now there's a 0% chance if I've ever seen one.
Now there’s a good ol fashioned Reddit Take™️
The fun part isn't always what you expect. But those challenges often forge the stongest, most resilient version of ourselves! A roller coaster ride 20's lol
The way things are evolving , it might be the case in 20 years.
I think if the situation goes like rn, it'll probably that corpos will give less than minimum wage to employees (and that'll be consider generous) with the excuse "AI can do better" and poor will get poorer and rich will get richer, the tools and everything developed rn is not for common men but for the rich, the people who will colonize Mars, the people who can afford to go to Mars won't be common men but those rich people while the poor gets suffocated in the pollution
Pretty sure we are heading towards a cyberpunk dystopia but without the cool neon lights and tech, and the punk part, just plain ol' dystopia
If AI continues down the path it’s on, humanity will still be in the trenches working our asses off for the super elite .01% who own 99.9% of the wealth. Every artist, mucisian, and actor will be a fake AI construct that still act in movie remakes that pander to 80’s nostalgia.
Won't happen, human greed is too powerful a force. We're not going to reach Star Trek, we're screaming toward Dune.
There's a pretty good chance of singularity happening by 2045 according to Ray Kurzweil. And at least proto-AGI by 2029 that will force society to change.
If society collapses your 10s will be your 20s and the 9-5 life will begin at 14
Society must have collapsed because this happens already all across the world.
Because working as soon as you’re able to , instead of delaying adulthood till 18/22/25, was the norm for most of human history between the beginning of agrarian societies till now. So any collapse would just be a return to how things used to work
In agrarian societies you were considered an adult and started working as early as 4-5, but my point is that 14 year olds work full time schedules (or more) in a wide majority of the current societies that exist today.
I wouldn't be too miffed if I could make a shitty shelter and live off the land I grew up in. I'd miss y'all and ridiculous media, but I'd soon get over it with living a real life.
Society collapsing would not be fun🤣
In fact, compared to what the future holds, youre living like royalty right now in what will be considered the "golden before times" like, you can eat a meal, take a nice warm shower, and relax in an air conditioned room.
Makes me think of Zom 100 where the zombie apocalypse causes the MC extreme relief because it means he doesn't have to go to his soul sucking 16 hour shift job anymore.
Maybe you'll enjoy war!
Can't think of any way this happens other than catastrophic war or space exploration
Yeah... I dont think it's going to be space exploration at the pace we are going...
I got my first job at 14, graduated early 17 and went to work. Been a cook for 20 years. Went to college. At 34 my savings is my rent. If it makes it that far. I live paycheck to paycheck plus what I need from the paycheck coming. We're not in a sustainable environment
Time to live in a van down by the river.
You’re not alone.
Meanwhile I did have fun, and was very far behind my peers once turning 30. Fun ain't everything when you have to play catch-up for the rest of your life.
What is fun? How do people have time for starting “hobbies”?
All I know is work or starve.
Same. I am 18 right now. Just finished school and waiting for them to call me from the place where I worked for 1 year as an intern. I probably will start working in 1 week. My job is 9 hours a day. I don't know. The geography where you were born is your destiny...
I was so stressed that im wasting my 20s so i started to go to parties and it was awfull in my 30s i slowed down and together with my wife we enjoy live in our own pace. Its awesone
How do you get a so called "wife?"
I heard you need the governments permission
Yeah, my approval got reset since i switched countries...
To be honest jokes aside i was thinking i will die alone. I had no luck in love and when i had relationships they were highly disfunctional. One day i have meet this angel. I used a dating app and i matched her and i thought she is a bit or a scammer cause when beautifull girls wrote to me i always assumed that. But nope she was real. Turns out we were not ready and we removed the app after only few messages. Few months have passed and i installed it againg. Only to match with her on my first swipe. It turns out she did exact same thing as me, so this time we went on a date. A year later we were planning our wedding and after 2 years from the swipe we had our wedding.
Talk about faith
Nice try goverment agent im not starting to believe!
I will die alone!
(I also tried dating apps but there were only 2 people in my area and i gave up)
This has the same vibe as people who complain about how expensive housing is, and then you find out their parents gave them the money to purchase a house all cash.
Having a loving partner is this meme on ez mode.
Insert meme: Is this wife here in the room with us?
Most people call “fun” whatever is “cool” and have no actual definition of either except it invovles being cradled within the group.
That’s it. You’re not actually missing anything.
Real life is honestly kindof plain and fun is whatever you make fun for you.
Lol, having fun in your 20s doesn't exist if you are average/poor
Wrong, you just haven't found alcohol yet.
"High school will be when you meet many friends for life."
I never met anyone at school.
"College is when your life peaks with parties and young fun."
I spent four years sleeping 2-4 hours a day doing essays, quizzes, exams, and presentations, eating nothing but 4 am slices of cheese and coffee, and all I got was a degree and receeding hairline. Then, the most miserable year of my life was trying to apply to a job and filling internship papers with burnout.
Now my parents complain I didn't enjoy life as a teen, lol.
Yeah, 20s have been the absolute worst point of my life. Stress of college and finding a job, having the fear that I might not be able to afford to pay bills, rejecting the few friends I have just because I have important things to do to make sure I’m not homeless, etc. This is horrible.
I came into the comment sections just to say OP must not be in his 20s yet lol.
Personally nearing 30 I feel like this is going to be the decade. Ill actually have decent income and boy am I way smarter than I was in my early 20s
My 20s I couldn’t get a job that matched cost of living in Canada so I fucked off to Europe
School is the best part of life, I have a lot of fun memories from elementary wishing I could turn back time, middle and high school also
