My PC doesn't even have a case. It's just a motherboard hanging on a wall.
Well that's one way to cool a PC.
Interesting idea, what is the big drawback? Dust and the risk of something hitting it?
Dust usually and outside hazard like sunlight or water. As long you take care of it very frequently and placed on a safe place, it would be fine.
I never "take care of it" and it's been fine for years. It's in a safe space, though, obviously.
I was going to say why not have both, but that isn’t even the best PC build anyway.
The rainbow trash is stupid, but we reached a point where certain parts are cheaper (even if done my the same company) when they are some lsd trip instead of just blanc
And you can also usually just turn off the RGB
Or break the leds if you cannot
That seems like more trouble than it's worth. Tbh just get a mesh or solid side panel case at that point
Screwdriver against leds goes brrrrrt
I just got a Fractal north, no flashy lights or anything, it's a good case
I don't know. I like the simple design with no RGB lights. anyone else like me?
Wow.. very beautiful designs
Thanks for the info
Nah both, it has Intel.
This is the correct answer
As a die hard Intel fan, couldn't agree more. Do not buy Intel CPUs, people.
why?
The only value intel provides is competition for amd so they can keep making better products. Been like that for years now
I dont get your comment how are you die hard but anti as well?
Is there something wrong with the processors or is this an activist thing and the ceo said something once?
Their CPUs are awful compared to AMD. And they kill their platforms after a few years, their latest platform supports just ONE generation of AWFUL CPUs.
So yeah, I love them, but I wouldn't spend my own money on their CPUs.

I saw this when I was doing research recently. What do you mean by 1 generation of cpu? Isn't intel the cpu?

What else are they good for then if not their cpu? What else do they produce?

You know how phones have generations? S21, S22, S23, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, etc... Well, CPUs have generations too.
Their latest platform (LGA1851) supports just one generation (Core Ultra 5, 7, and 9 2xx). So if you buy one of these CPUs and the motherboard that goes with it and wanted to upgrade a few years later, you'll have to upgrade both the CPU and motherboard.

They make GPUs too, they're nice at their price point.

Oh ok so like they always change their pinset kind of deal? Well I see ya that sucks for people that upgrade every couple of years. I however have a 10 yo Pc and so everything needs to be upgraded anyways and thats kinda how I do it lol I still have a 980 ti card.
Thank you for the information. I appreciate it and thanks for dumbing it down for me with the phone analogy that actually helped
Me in my windowless black case with LED rams, because they were cheaper than the non-LED ones.
I had a couple of leds, just kinda worked out that way. But the glass side is against a wall anyways
i5-8600k 1070 - good performance, stable. i9-14900k 4090 great performance, potential CPU failure and GPU melting issues.
Me with modest RGB (only the ones that came with my parts) and a 7800X3D and 6950XT
The RGB is set to icy blue and the GPU is forced red because it's a red devil, the idea was devil waking up in the ice a la Negatron from the first Shia Lebouf Transformers
Megatron*
Negatron was from power rangers
I looked it up and got conflicting answers from Google, plus I did watch a lot of power rangers as a kid
Honestly idgaf about extra RGB.
If it comes with RGB on the parts. Cool, if not, I'm not buying RGB.
And I haven't even built a gaming PC bru—
I severely dislike rgb in my case and have gone out of my way to deactivate any and all lights possible in my settings and bios
There's a single RGB led on my GPU. I couldn't deactivate it, so it has duct tape over it.
I don't want to see or hear my rig past the 'on' button.
Same, i have the glass panel which is cool and all, but it loses its charm. I actually have the glass panel facing towards the wall just so I dont see the lights.
My main thing is if its at night and Im trying to watch or play a scary movie, the lights just take away from the experience.
Can't you just unplug them from the motherboard instead?
Not the ones that are integrated, some are considered like running lights for the motherboard
Nowadays there's a whole bunch of circle jerk over RGB free builds too.
Ew intel
But RGB is aesthetically pleasing 🥰
not even in the slightest
my pc is more like the bottom one, i like a sleeper pc
Just like its name, you can sleep while it run, too!
1070 ftw edition still chugging along over here in my i9-9900k based machine built back end of 2019. Because gfx card prices went silly in the start of 2020 when I went looking for a card for it.
I'm upgrading my PC after 12 years and the only cases people keep suggesting to me are those RGB light ones, I just want a case with good airflow and quiet it could look like a pentium 4 case as long as it works
I don't want to see or hear my PC to be honest. I prefer looking at my monitor and the shiny graphics it renders at high speed.
Zoomers...
Are people still actually all about RGB? I much prefer a sleek and professional looking monster and find the RGB distracting
I tried really hard to avoid an RGB case when I got my new PC last year and had shit luck. So I settled for a PC that claimed to have the ability to turn on and off the RGB for the case.
The only RGB I can turn off is my ram. All 7 case fans still blink random colours and there's nothing I can do about it.
infuriating.
Its true
Ordered my pc from a website where i could pick the parts myself.
There was no option to have no rgb installed.
I don't want all of the crazy lighting. I would like more interesting and colourful case designs beyond just pure black and white, often fishtank/glass panels and sometimes wood, but I don't want all of the lighting.
Have an all black case but still fill it with rgbs for the lols
I need the blinky lights. For my mental health
People like RGB but I don't think anyone who actually knows computers thinks more lights is more better
In my build only the case fans had rgb which looked good at first but it got annoying so fucking quickly that I just kept the rub turned off.
I want rgb and glass sides gone. I want drive bay slots back. It's weird how people don't like to customise their PCs with useful things like ports and buttons. Why not have 4 usb c slots there, or an SD card reader, or a hotswap external drive tray, or anything?
Where the hell i can even buy none-RGB stuff? Can't seem to even find it.
I am not the biggest fan of rgb inside the computer case. To each their own, but I just want a case with good cooling potential and good mounting options. Id buy one without a window side panel of I could find one to suit my needs. Im still running an nzxt s340 case from like, 2016. Its a terrible case.
Gamers when their electricity bill will be higher for 0 benefit 🤩🤩🤩
My last case was a Fractal XL-R2, loved that case
Have fun with that 14900 k time bomb
Sleeper build: Signature look of superiority
RGB looks awful.
your smoll ape brain see colorful lights and thinks "this is better"
lol I fucking hate rgb, but I also hate intel, so both are shit
I have less power with no rgb :(
When your PC is brighter and more colorful than your future.

Considering the only thing with that lights up is my GPU, it lines up pretty well…
