Not all subs allow video downloading, still pretty stupid if you don't try downloading it first
Also dumb that they don't allow for stuff to be downloaded when at the end of the day you can download any video/image you see on Reddit in plenty of different ways.

Doesn't work on gifs
On windows, we just right click and press "download video." We also have to double tap control to inspect and image just to save it as an PNG.

Not so mysterious. A user uploads content to Reddit, it’s in the public domain now, why should Reddit take credit for it by adding their watermark? What did they do? Should a music streaming service also add a little audio watermark whenever you download songs now?
Its not just about reddit, the users Name ist also in the watermark.
I totally agree with you on that. But it is free advertisement, and more people on Reddit means more people to talk about things you enjoy doing.

Still can’t save gifs on mobile
If I open the gif, there is a download option in the top right, when the gif is full screen. Im using android. For some reason, though, sometimes tapping on the gif just collapses the comment in the thread.
That doesn’t appear on iOS, even just yesterday I’d tried saving a gif and there was no option anywhere
I was afraid of that, I remember having to screen record on the iPhone to do that. Maybe you can Google search the gif and download it there? Kind of defeats the purpose even if it works, but worth a shot

It doesn't work with gifs. Other then that it sometimes breaks on normal videos but when it does that the bot also breaks.
Sometimes it also doesn’t work. I’ve had the share button not show a download button while press and hold (mobile) would offer it, I’ve had it vice versa, and I’ve also had no download button appear at all.
I just give up if I truly can’t get a button to pop up though I don’t care that much
