Call the Exorcist!
In Spanish it has always been a horse. It has never been called a Knight. "Caballo F4"
Same in Italian. Cavallo.
They just changed one letter and called it a day.
Same goes for dutch. We call it paard.
Never been called Caballero?
It may have been a long time ago, think I've seen some old books calling it Caballero
It could be a translation from someone that didn't play much chess hehe.
That doesn’t look like the word “horse”
But it means horse, just like horse in Portuguese is cavalo
Portuguese and Spanish are like siblings who always have to be different. If it's with a b, the other uses a v, double ll, take one out hahah. I never learned Portuguese because of it, it was making my Spanish worse.
To be fair, there are Chinese dialects that are further apart from each other than Portuguese is from Spanish
I have heard Spanish speakers say Portuguese is like speaking Spanish with rocks in your mouth
Now I need to know how Portuguese speakers describe Spanish.
Bro got hated on for shitposting in a shitposting sub. Sad times we live in, sad times 😔
I think people think that instead of trolling he is disrespecting the language or something.
Your right, its the word for hair
youre thinking of cabello
No thats onion

It's horse in almost every non-english language.
*other I find issue with defining all of the 7,116 other languages spoken on earth as "non-english"
English won, its the king of the languages.
It's definitely the most pushed one
As someone who knows 3 different languages (excluding programming languages), i'd like to say english as its fair share of problems and disadvantages. It's just popular because of the British "people".
Definitely not in Czech, at least. The official name is "Jezdec" (rider or horseman). We do however use slang terms such as "kůň" (horse) or "klisna" (mare or maiden mare).
pony in english, horse in non-english
In portuguese it's "cavaleiro" wich is "knight" tranlsated in portuguese
Literalmente ninguém fala cavaleiro, é cavalo
Eu digo e ensinaram-me assim, se tu n dizes assim a culpa n é minha
So pode ser europeu
Sim sou português
You are probably from the Brazilian Guiana in europe then

Do you play chess?

Thing boob jump
If I had to guess, i'd say that it originally depicted a knight riding on horseback, until eventually he was ditched from the design.

It’s name in Hebrew is פרש (Pa-Ra-Sh) which means cavalry (but like one person of the cavalry) so I think English is just weird here as always
No its not its knight
i only play with my towers and yes everything around them is just stuff standing in my way and i protect them no matter the cost.
I mean, knights were often mounted on horses and a crude horse was much easier to carve than a crude mounted, or unmounted, knight in the 7th century, or really until relatively recently. The king and queen look nothing like members of any royal family, you don't call them "crown" and "lady crown" do you?
Here its called "cavalo", its horse in Portuguese...
We call it horse in my language
Hindi: ghoda (horse)
If the country where the game originated from 🇮🇳 calls it a horse, then it's a horse.
