Everyone thought the future would be flying cars but it’s actually Tuk tuks with sat nav.
This is nothing to do with sat nav.
What's wrong with tuk tuks having sat nav anyway?
Tuk Tuks playing Tik Toks
These are bicycles with billboards, I don't see the issue.
There are enough distractions on and beside the roads without adding slow moving cyclists with advertisements flashing brightly and incessantly in front of you.
As well as the danger these workers put themselves in by cycling in busy traffic just to be a human billboard.
We worry technology will take away jobs, in reality it’s creating some really shitty jobs
And I bet if they fall off and break it, they will suffer financially for it in some way.
Right! The other day someone posted dash cam footage of a U-Haul-sized truck driving at night covered in insanely bright LED panels on all sides like full-on moving billboard ads.
It was so bright the camera was getting overexposed to the point it looked like it was staring into the sun lol. I honestly can not imagine how anyone would not be distracted by something like that.
With people wearing billboards while riding. It doesn't seem safe.
There's a vehicle version of this in my city: a cube van w 3 whole sides of LED screens.
They add more traffic & distraction to a situation that screams for less of these.
I always take note of what is advertised & vow to boycott them for the rest of my natural life.
There’s a good chance they violate traffic laws concerning the color and direction of light they emit… but somehow they’re skirting those laws. For example, in many places non-emergency vehicles shouldn’t emit white light from the rear (unless reversing), red from the front, or blue light at all.
I saw one of those in a tourist town recently and I had never seen it before, absolutely hate it
There is a few of these in my town, and not only are they bright screens on all side but they also blare the audio at top volume for the ad's... I can hear it in my house as they drive up and down the main road here.
Literally sold their backs
Same as it ever was. We've been doing that for millennia.
That’s not a saying
It is now
They could quit, right?
I kinda want one now, but just to write silly phrases on, or helpful tips 😂
“Use turn signal HERE” and then bike in front of cars not using their turn signal
They definitely met all the job screening requirements.
What a time, we live in! Human Billboards.
Can’t tell if there’s sarcasm here or not, but yeah… human billboards have been around since at least the 1800s
The end of the world is nigh!
"The name's Board. Bill Board."
I'd say that the boss hates them. That's a good way to get a distracted driver to run you over.
Not only is it distracting and dazzling to drivers, surely the bags are heavy enough with lazy fucks food as it is
It shouldn't be too bright - or else that thing will be too heavy. So, theoretically it's not worse than any other lightbox banner on the road.
In night time it can add visibility much better then black backpack, so, in pure numbers, it could be even safer.
About weight - yeah, that's a concern for me too. It's like going with additional 1.5 - 2 liter bottle. So, not that heavy, but not fun.
That's one way to really distract drivers
I'm so confused as to why people are baffled by this as if people haven't been wearing signs for years. This one just happens to be digital. No more or less dystopian than it always was
Is it weird I want one of these for my own? Imagine streaming Shrek on it or something.
if they're paid accordingly, doesn't seem too bad
Might not mean "hate their boss for exploitation of workers", might mean "hate their boss for inflicting this upon the world"
oh lol
It's Bangladesh, dawg. They're definitely not paid accordingly.
combined with the other reply, nice to know that both problems exist simultaneously
I doubt that they are and yet they have to lump the extra weight around and are responsible for making sure that it's turned on and charged.
Late stage capitalism: when even your spine becomes an ad space...
Nah, this shit would be dope if you could have your personal wallpapers appear like a slideshow like your fave TV show or video game. I remember when I was young, I wanted a school bag that could change designs without having to change the actual bag. This makes that a reality.
cyberpunk 2077
I saw one on Nyhavn in Copenhagen advertising a strip club. It was late at night but still weird for the main tourist street in the city.
Can i plug my ps5 on it?
What LED us to this?
I am so glad that shit is illegal where I live.
or at least I think it is.
Pretty sure they aren't forced to do this job.
So do they get a stipend to pay for massages or chiropractor visits?
I’ve seen these at tech conferences here in nyc. It works
Ads are a cancer.
wow they got turned into a literal walking advertisement
how to say you don't view people as people without saying it
I bet all that weight kills their back and makes them 10X more afraid of falling off their bikes
Wait till laws are past banning these off the road. "Distracted Driving"
The traffic is already insane. How could anyone pay any attention to the ads.
Is it just the ads? Do they deliver goods too? I doubt they can fit much else in there with the battery pack and possibly a raspberry pi or similar device.
No kidding! That's going to lead to some serious distracted driving incidents!
Luckily that's illegal here in Germany.
I hate everything about this... Sooo much. The future sucks.
Don't worry, they probably hate him too
Do adverts like this even work? I really feel like companies waste so much money on crappy adverts. Like the ones on Amazon Prime. I specifically avoid any company that does adds tbh. It shows they dont invest in their products or workers
This reminds me of those video billboards you sometimes see playing an animated text for anti-distracted driving. If you don't want me to be distracted while driving, then why tf are you distracting me with animated text on a billboard to tell me not to be distracted?
Difference between a woman and man making money on their backs...:-)
I'd pay good money to someone who could hack those and play porn instead :)

Man, you must be the master at avoiding reddits ads. They are so sneaky, I think I'll be watching a video from a normal sub, and then I realize the promo ad at the top 🤦♂️
Most people don't intentionally physically look at adverts; this isn't some grand accomplishment. And if they were an enormous waste of money and resources they would 't be a thing.
Someone made cyclists more entitled?
I bet if a car hits them and they fall they have to pay for a new screen
