This is how I would visualise the pain I get when I hit my elbow to a door knob and the nerves go crazy!
For me, this is what my brain looks like when I haven’t taken my medication.
its gonna send you either forwards or backwards in time is my guess
Diagonal.
different timeline
I'm low key jealous
It’s the timeline where you’re a pariah for not liking pineapple on pizza.
I like pineapple on pizza, I’m good.
Same, it goes amazing with pretty much all other pizza toppings. But especially meats.
Sausage and pineapple is superior to ham.
My go-to for accompanying pineapple is pepperoni. Italian sausage is also really good. Ham is not.
Pineapple, jalapeno, and bacon
Small chunks of pineapple with pepperoni, chicken, and a drizzle of buffalo sauce. The sweet and spicy really does it for me. Sometimes a little green pepper.
Bacon and pineapple - also superior to ham.
Especially Turkey ham that gets used a lot in the uk at least… if you’re going to cook pork make it a joint or sausages. Or gammon.
Not country ham.
Pineapple + Jalapeño + pepperoni
You guys ever have Hawaiian fried rice? It's ham and pineapple with fried rice (sometimes with scrambled eggs fried into it).
I’m sure that’s good, it probably uses real ham. But the “Canadian bacon” on pizza sucks, frankly. And isn’t bacon. Or Canadian.
Pepperoni, pineapple and jalapeno
Yea I'm not a huge fan of pineapple in general but this combo kinda slaps
Pineapple, tomato, banana pepper
Ahh yes, the timeline where J6 was successful.
Sorry my mistake, that timeline erased itself with nukes shortly after that event.
Take me with you, OP!
He's going to a timeliness where everything is exactly the same except savory foods taste sweet and sweet foods taste savory
I want off this timeline. I think this is the one where Biff got the almanac.
D I A G O N A L L Y

Holy fuck. I grew up with HP and I never ever noticed that.. and I went to fucking grad school for English literature 😭
Don't worry, I only learned a year ago
jK rOwLiNg Is A lItErArY gEnIuS!
Vertizontically
WE HAVE TO GO BACK KATE!
Sideways
As Lemmy sang.
Damnit now I'm stuck in complex time. What the hell does 4i seconds even mean?
It already did. Isn’t that watch from 1985?
It's the number one selling wristwatch to this day
It's also one of the cheapest and can be wired into an IED-- people working at Guantanamo bay were trained to assume anyone wearing this watch was trained in bomb making (which is kind of silly considering it's dirt cheap and again the number one selling watch)
Probably forward, at the same rate as before
Every 60 seconds in africa, a minute passes.
If you start hearing Huey Lewis and the News, run.
Cool accidental mod!
It's cool if it keeps time.
It kind of looks like the quartz crystal oscillator has been slowed down so much you can see the multiplexing. If they use the same oscillator for the realtime clock (and why wouldn't they), this will also break the timekeeping.
Maybe OP broke a capacitor. IDK if that would change the frequency this dramatically, though.
Big fan of your casually vast knowledge of how watches work. Not joking. I appreciate this because I try not to think too hard about how simple machines like this work or I’ll go insane every time I pass one of those speed limit signs that shows your driving speed.
…I’m just glad other people are out there braving it and understanding our world.
Big fan of your casually vast knowledge of how watches work.
Not watches specifically. Quartz crystal oscillators and 7-segment LCDs are extremely common in embedded systems. In fact, I actually don't think I've ever worked on a system without a crystal oscillator.
I was thinking OP shorted together multiple multiplexing traces
Multiple cells are getting activated when only one should be on for a given clock cycle? Which has the effect, especially with the camera frame rate, of making it appear slower refresh rate?
If the data control lines are unaffected, the time might be correct
I'm not sure how a short would cause the watch to multiplex across segments instead of across digits.
If you look carefully, you can see that the seconds aren't progressing.
I suppose OP could have also broken the quartz crystal itself. Tough to say without opening up the watch.
Can't it be clock pulse generator damaged, looking at it it seems like CPU/or something clock speed is reduced.
Can't it be clock pulse generator damaged
Yea. The quartz crystal is the "clock pulse generator".
I'm not sure about these watches specifically, but every single embedded system I've ever done design work on has had a quartz crystal oscillator hooked up to two pins of a microcontroller. The microcontroller has the hardware built in to create a phase lock loop (PLL) with the crystal.
There are also on-chip oscillators, but they're nowhere NEAR as accurate.
The reason I mentioned a capacitor is because the circuit with the quartz crystal usually involves two small capacitors. Changing the value of the capacitors, the distance between the crystal and the microcontroller, or even the size of the pads it's soldered to can change the frequency slightly.
IDK if removing a capacitor could cause THIS dramatic a change in frequency... The crystal may have been damaged. IDK.
That would be the oscillator. It's just a piece of crystal that vibrates at the correct frequency. Might even be shaped like a tuning fork, which would be easy to break from a hit
I remember looking into it years ago and being mildly disappointed that quartz oscillators aren't shaped like tuning forks. They're usually just a rectangle with a specific shape and size to ring at a specific frequency.
But the crystal CAN break.
32.768kHz usually come in tuning fork shape. Which is what RTCs usually use. MHz range for the main mcu oscillator usually use AT cut crystals, which are probably the ones you saw
Looks like a reasonable assumption - look at the seconds, it sits at 42 for a mighty long time.
Speaking of mods:
If anyone is into electronics, this model has a community of people who have replaced the circuit board to make it programmable. It adds simple apps and in the most recent iteration, an accelerometer and rgb leds.
Check it out if you're interested: Sensor Watch
Careful, you keep smacking that around and it’ll eventually summon the Police:
That’s what they need to da do doo doo
I'd let Sgt Copeland beat me like the drums.
I don't believe I had to scroll this far to see the Predator reference.
AVP 2000 was a great game. I will take no arguments.
surprised this is further down. It's the first thing that popped into my head!
No, you smacked a doorknob. The watch is an innocent abuse victim now being libeled on social media.
User brutality! AUAB!
Man, someone always beats me to my idea. Literally the very first thing I thought of when I saw this post
Perfect. Still miss the big man. 🥺
Apparently he's the reason I was born because my mom had terrible allergies and couldn't get pregnant on her allergy meds but she learned from a Johny Candy movie that she was allergic to her down pillow and when she got rid of that she got better and got off her meds and got preggers instantly
congrats to your mother and her unclogged uterus
I told my friends last year that it had been 30 years since he died in 1994. They yelled at me to shut up. I made them feel old, and also sad that we've been deprived of John Candy for that long.
This is exactly what first came to my mind!!
I'm going to have to say goodnight, so...
For the curious: How a non-smacked version looks like 😅
I swear I had that exact watch like 40 years ago.
theyve reissued it, its the original casio
Most reliable wrist watch for the money IMO.
Well I mean this post itself is kinda an argument against that being true...
But I do know that this brand is generally well known for being very good quality for it's price.
User error for being smacked into a door knob. This model of Casio is $20 and can last for years and still function perfectly even with wear and tear.
I wore one for 7 years, never took it off in the shower, worked in a kitchen and bar.
I stopped wearing it because I got a new one with different colors
How gross was it underneath after 7 years?
I would take it off now and then to clean it
Yes.
Watches generally don't create a water tight seal to the wearer's skin, so it wouldn't prevent hand washing or showering.
Dude that's vile lol
I still have my original one from the 90's, which I wear daily. They are absolutely peak.
They have a line called Gshock that is basically the Nokia phones of watches. Got a Mudmaster as my work watch, but the smaller versions are good too. Basically indestructible, if this watch breaks on my wrist I've got bigger problems because whatever caused it to break has probably severed my hand. They have a variety of options too, solar powered, GPS and step tracking, etc. Basically half a smart watch but unbreakable.
They're great watches and cheap compared to luxury brands. Mine is a step below the top level and still cheaper than an Apple Watch.
Until you smack it with a doorknob
It’s not reissued, they never stopped making it. They just changed the branding to call it “retro”
All things old are new again. Except my knees and back.
Incase anyone needs another reference
Hmm still not convinced. Can we get a third reference?
This is mirrored. Unable to determine if legitimate picture or not. Please someone submit further evidence. Videos preferred.
That's not a video though, maybe you just took a photo at the right moment of a smacked version
Almost rocking the same model but a different vibe!
*what a non-smacked version looks like
It's insane to me how "how x looks like" has become the default over the last ~3-4 years in memes and shorts
It should be either
People didn't used to have a problem with this!
Also "apart of" instead of "a part of". Apart is the opposite of a part! Apart means separate!
I am going insane! (I may already have been insane)
And here's what the crazy person version of this photo looks like.
"hey dude what time is it?"
"YES"
Rave mode activated.
Water resistant? Yes! Impact resistant? Not so much.
G-Shock has entered chat
This is what happens if you try and check your watch in a dream.
My first thought as well
Tell your watch to keep its hands to itself.
It better watch itself
Did you smack the doorknob on a time machine because I haven’t seen that type of watch since the 80s?
Those casios are actually back in style now. I have a black one.
You going black in time?
The F-91W Was Osama's Daily Driver
The F-91W might actually be the most popular watch of all time in terms of units sold (if you measure by single model number)
No doubt. I mean how many wristwatch models have their own wikipedia article?
And how many of those articles have a subsection called “Usage in terrorism”?
It's really a classic. I really like the one I have. Considering the price point, it's one of those things that is a stunningly good value. Even though I can afford 'nicer' watches, the F-91W is still a favorite. And it's so light, too
Had to time the 9/11 perfectly.
Ive never stopped wearing them. In my office someone said "hey cool retro watch! Nice fashion statement!" meanwhile I'm like "this is my watch (ive replaced them) that ive had for nearly three decades"
Dude got punched so hard, He woke up and his watch was out of style.
I got the exact same Casio on my wrist, and 50-60 y-o people notice it quite a lot, and tell me about theirs from back in the days, and then they fondly smile thinking about it. It makes my day each time it happens!
88 specifically, that's when I saw some serious shit.
Do you live under a rock? because these casios are still very popular these days
You can still buy them. Still reliable and trusty.
Take the battery out and put it back in...
Crazy times we live in
This is proof lol
Im just hearing an R2D2 "wwwwwwoooooooOOOOOOOOAAAAH" and im lolling
OP, I’ve broken two of these the exact same way.
A big reason of why that same company invented the G-Shock
Edit: Autocorrect
A man of taste i see. Classic timepiece.
* I'm pretty annoyed now. An hour after posting, I caught the strap on a toilet door handle in a restaurant and it snapped. The casing is broken.
Sorry about your loss.
Looks like a new High Score
Doorknob - 1 Casio - 0
We used to wear these watched on the inside of our wrists, back in the olden days. They were very expensive then and gifts for big occasions, so yeah. All the adorable nerdy boys I went to HS with got them for their bar mitzvahs. :)
Don't know about this particular watch, but that's a classic behavior of electronics. Long story short, you probably knocked a capacitor or resistor loose inside.
Going a bit ELI5 here, so not exactly correct but.... LCD screens don't send power to the entire screen at once, they do parts at a time. Just so fast that it's faster than either the chemical response time of the liquid crystals, or at least faster than your eyes can see.
There's a timing circuit that tells it when to move on to the next set of segments, and if there's a part missing now that altered the delay to something much slower.
Fixable with the right equipment.
Since i didnt find anyone saying it. Ima gonna say it.
MADE IN HEAVEN.
Beat me to it.
I was searchin for this,im not disappointed
I feel like that's a jojo reference but maybe one i have picked up only through osmosis
had to scroll way too much to find this
"Sorry mate you got the time?"
Yeah it's 8̴̣̺̻͈͔̜̥͓͈̙̾̃̀̓̆̄̌͠:̴̜͈̞̙̺͍̹̗̝̀̉̽̈́͊̍̊̕̚5̸͓̳̼̪̐̔̈́̽̀̂͊͐͠1̶̛̛̣͚̞̲̝̳̗̣̳̠̅̿̽̉́͘͝ ̸̡̨̢̫̻̞̖̉̏ͅ o'clock
Come onnnn 7s!
Time to upgrade to a G-Shock.
Your life points took direct damage!
It's the DeLorean edition.
Casino mode unlocked!
The doorknob smacked back
“We have the Bermuda Triangle at home”
Smack it again lol
I miss my Cassio calculator watch. Ima buy it again
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.. idk about this guy though
Its now a time machine
That’s me when I wake up in the mornings
That looks pretty damn cool tbh
its a Casio - Go buy another for $10 Edit: Sorry I guess they are $20 now
smack it again
wouldve been my first response too
Will definitely resolve the issue
While I don't recommend, it has worked for me.. 😬
What if she's still sucking?
KEEP SMACKING TILL SHE RELEASES!
*Percussive maintenance
Shit I just commented that and scrolled down. Never an original though in my head
It's cool, I heard you and went for it
Enough smacking, time to take it apart and see which soldered connection on the board is loose.
I have the same watch BTW. It got me through CDL truck training school with that awesome timer for all the airbrake tests I had to do.
When it comes to soldering boards, my fingers become instant sausages. Definitely not cut out for brain surgery.
Well there's your problem. You're not supposed to cut your fingers out for brain surgery.
Facts. Supposed to cut your brain out for brain sausagery.
The Gilligan's Island concussion protocol.
percussive maintenance at it's finest
And if that doesn't work, perform a power cycle
