Dwight Howard's wife, Amber Rose Howard, has filed for divorce ... just six months after she tied the knot with the ex-NBA superstar.
Court documents, obtained by TMZ Sports, show the rapper and reality star -- known widely as Amy Luciani -- requested the split from the basketball player at a Georgia courthouse on July 1
Amber wrote in the docs "The marriage is irretrievably broken," adding, "there are no prospects for reconciliation."
Amber asked that all marital assets and property be "equitably divided" by the courts. She also requested alimony.

"Time served" is a strange way to put it, but the answer is yes, length of marriage is usually a factor in alimony.
I got divorced in NJ after 16 years of marriage. My attorney advised me that under NJ rules, there was a formula used for calculating alimony- 1/3 of the difference in our incomes, for a period up to the length of our marriage. However, since she was employed and we had no children, the judge would have probably pushed for a settlement of about half that.
So yeah, length of time matters.
However in my case, other factors came into play. Thus, the real lesson is to have the better lawyer at all times. I had thought we could settle the divorce amicably. Turns out we couldn’t, and she got bad advice from a rookie lawyer. I hired a better one (pure luck- this is not a brag at all) and the settlement was on fairer terms.
