Tim Duncan's all-time averages:
19.0 ppg
10.8 rpg
3.0 apg
0.7 spg
2.2 bog
Accolades-wise he needs to win 2 championships, 1 finals MVP's, at least 1 MVP, 5 all star game appearances and 5 all nba team selections
Now find a 1/3 Kobe, so we can argue about them vs Kornet
1/3rd Kobe mathematically is going to be a top 15 player since 'Kobe is top 5' and 15/3 =5 so good luck
The funniest thing about this is thinking Kobe is top 5.
He’s barely a top 5 player that’s ever played for the lakers
That sounds wild but is actually true.
LeBron, Magic, Shaq, Kareem, and Wilt all were probably better.
Im not a kobe fan but thinking bron and wilt are better lakers is insane
He said they played for the Lakers, not that they were better Lakers.
Please take those plumbers and bron out of there.
Lebron was ancient by the time he was in LA and wasn’t at the level of prime Kobe.
Plumbers are self-explanatory. Kareem is especially annoying because his claim to fame is volume stats that he had for playing for a long time. Nobody is taking him (he missed the playoffs in his prime when half the talent was in a different league) over Kobe Bryant (arguably the third best pure scorer ever outside of Jordan/KD/ maybe LeBron).
I can't tell if this is satire.
That’s why I said “played for the lakers” and not “lakers”
Dwyane Wade is a better “Heat” but no one is taking Wade over LeBron all time
He’s easily a top 2 Laker with him and Magic. Note this is not the same as “ever played for the Lakers” lol
Would agree with that
This is what I've been saying!!
Kobe is not better than Magic Kareem Wilt Shaq or Bron. I have no idea how anyone puts him in top 5 all time
My personal take is LeBron, Kareem, Magic, Shaq in that order
Then you have (in no order): Wilt, West, Mikan, Kobe
Honorable mention: Baylor, Gasol, Worthy, Davis
No way u got Kobe a whole tier below shaq, I get it tho Reddit users love to hate on Kobe as a way to feel superior to casual fans who love love.
I've no problem with
LeBron, Kareem, Magic
Wilt, West, Mikan, Kobe and Shaq
But still thik Shaq is above Kobe
What makes Kareem and Magic so much better? Even in his day Kareem wasn’t regarded that highly and Magic definitely doesn’t seem a tier above the others.
Even in his day Kareem wasn’t regarded that highly
Kareem was considered by a lot of people to be the GOAT until Jordan came along. He was a generational superstar from the second he stepped on the court at UCLA. They literally outlawed dunking in college because of him.
Ahhh thats too bad
damn ya'll really can't read the purposefully humorous quotations I put around 'Kobe is top 5' ... whole comment was meant to be a sarcastic joke
seriously deficient mental capacities on some of ya'll to take this comment seriously
Kobe is closer to top 5 then top 15
What would 1/3rd of a rapist be though, a voyeur?
Deshaun Watson?
Didn’t he rape like 30 people in a year?
He’s by far the worst person in sports history right? Nobody really comes close?
Iirc he sexually assaulted/harassed a bunch of massage therapists in Houston over the course of several years. I don't believe any accusations of rape but could be mistaken.
Just the tip
Ooof.
Just the tip? Dividing by rape isn't something I've done much.
I think at minimum he would have to get off his high altitude horse and do his raping in Tuscon Arizona, since the elevation there is approx. 1/3rd of the elevation as it is in Eagle, Colorado
Dividing by rape isn't something I've done much.
But you've done it a little?
not much for senses of humor here eh
yes, a little being this scenario in front of us
Ime Udoka
Me 😈
Bringing this shit up all the time is so odd and unfunny. And no just because I didn’t like your edgy joke doesn’t mean I support rape. but goddam you nerds run this shit into the ground
I thought it was pretty funny.
It's not so much an edgy joke as much as it is a way to remind the dorky dick riding losers (like you), that the person you idolize is a rapist piece of shit and shouldn't be discussed with such reverance.
And let me guess, without even clicking your profile, active in r/Lakers , right?
In what fucking universe is Kobe top 5 all time 💀
holy hell people apparently couldn't read the humorous quotations around 'kobe is top 5' or thus hear the joking sarcasm in this comment ...
Since he passed away, he jumped to 3rd to 5th all time.
He was literally ranked 8th to 14th OAT prior to passing.
Wasn’t he considered that back in the early 2010s?
We had Bron/jordan for 1 and then people said Kobe was 2. Nobody thought Kareem was the “goat” until LeBron started racking up career stats and then we pretended that Kareem was the “greatest scorer ever” for longevity (dumb) reasons (it was always Jordan with KD/Bron at 2 and Kobe after that).
Damn why the downvotes - this feels like a obvious /s post.
thank you so much for having a brain 🤗
The accolades are gonna be the easy part. I’m not so sure he can average 6/3 though
You should have probably posted this on the Spurs sub lol. r/nba isn’t gonna be up to date on Kornet quotes at his introductory presser lol
Biggest free agent signing of the summer, people should be smh
What did he say?
Pretty funny, honestly. Thanks!
Kornet is unironically one of the funniest dudes in the league.
He would also need to be 2ft 3.75in. Honestly those stats would be pretty good for that height.
I don't know if he has it in him.
Joe ingles the general admission ticket confirmed
Following the 1/3rd of TD, Kornet is on the cover of 2k26, Timmy was on the cover of 3 basketball games. He's on track!
Incoming HOFer
You need conversions for 2020s basketball
Duncan was one of greatest defenders ever and could have easily scored way more than he did. He was fairly unstoppable when he needed to be. Look at what he did in 2003 playoffs as a whole or his finals avg that year lol
Where did this Kornet and Duncan comparison come from all of a sudden lol
Koret jersey number is 1/3 of tim's, so he made a lil joke about why he picked it.
[deleted]
Its about a silly joke Kornet made in a presser. He's wearing 7 this season and wants to be 1/3rd of what Tim Duncan was for the Spurs.
Edit: dude deleted his comment wow
Yeah what about 1/5 of David Robinson.
What a weird comparison
Its about something Kornet said in a media press conference. Kornet said he is wearing number 7 as he wants to be 1/3rd of what Tim Duncan was for the Spurs.
bro why didn't we draft a 11/16ths Anthony Edwards this year?
any word on the trade for the 5/8ths Steph Curry?
Yes, that will make him 1/3rd of what Duncan was….. lol 😂
So is ayton basically the same thing as Duncan ?? Those are basically his averages….
was there some memo about Kornet being '1/3rd' of Tim Duncan that nobody else but you read?
you can't mathematically quantify players like this by just picking some regular counting stats and multiplying or dividing them.
consideration of attempts and efficiencies? minutes played and usage rates? type of shots and where on the floor? adjustments for pace and opponents? etc?
Kornet made a joke at the introductory press conference about wearing number 7 because it’s 1/3rd of Tim Duncan. He was just being silly.
I’m pretty sure a lot more people than him saw Kornet make that joke
yeah apparently missed this, post belongs in r/Spurs if anywhere, the kind of trivial inside joke that deserves a chuckle for those present at the time maybe, not for someone to follow up with a more deeply pointless derivative reddit post to the masses about.
Why are you so mad about it
was there some memo about Kornet being '1/3rd' of Tim Duncan that nobody else but you read?
What a dorky response. It was at the top of this sub a few days ago.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1lu8biu/orsborn_showing_off_his_sense_of_humor_luke/
1/3 of stats is probably not what he was thinking. 1/3 of impact is more in line.
I think Kornet was just making a joke and he wasn’t really thinking about either of these things.
His career averages are actually surprisingly close to this.
5.2/3.5/1.1/0.3/0.8
1 PPG less and then he's within 0.1 of every other average
I could see him averaging 1/3rd of Tim Duncan as well this season.
Just watch him
He gets on baseHe has fundamentals
