The day Nintendo puts their exclusives on PC or consoles is the day hell freezes over.
If they don't do it someone else will.
Piracy is largely the result of not meeting consumer needs.
No, people are just a selfish assholes.
People steal things they don’t need on a daily basis thousands of body cams of people trying to steal fancy jeans and other stuff from department stores
You don’t sell fancy jeans online for a lot of money that are used. These people are just stealing because they want the things.
That is the exact same reason people download Nintendo games without paying for them.
They want the things without paying.
This is especially ridiculous when we were talking about a piece of entertainment hardware not fucking food. You don’t need video games. You just want them for free.
That’s called being a thief.
Piracy goes up as platforms/marketplaces get worse, and piracy declines when platforms/marketplaces improve. It's why developers who sell their games on Steam have far fewer issues with piracy than Nintendo. It's why piracy scenes for video and music started to dry up in the early days of Netflix and Spotify, but have rapidly boomed as those services have become enshittified.
As Gabe Newell said, "Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem."
If you think pirating games no one can legally buy anymore is the same as stealing jeans, I gotta assume you're still mad Blockbuster went under.
They are stealing the latest Zelda games my brother in christ not a single person has talked about stealing anything old.
We're in a thread about how the older a game gets, the more widely available it is for piracy. So yeah, we're talking about that.
My first pirated game was because I can no longer obtain it legally because the console and cartridge are no longer sold, so either I dish out hundreds for used equipment from the 90's to some scalper/collector, or I just emulate a game I used to own as a kid.
I would give the publisher money to buy it if they still sold it. They do not. Piracy is absolutely about not meeting consumer demand.
The people here openly talking about intentionally not giving Nintendo money.
You’re literally like the only person claiming to do something other than pure stealing.
And if GameStop still sells the game you claim can’t be bought then you’re stealing from them
I would defend Nintendo but it isn't a small indie game studio but a big company doing terrible decisions, especially towards game preservation and are lobbying with companies like EA and Ubi against stopkillinggames...
at this point I don't care. I'm cheering on the sidelines, but personally I wont even touch a Nintendo product again in any form.
Not everyone lives in a first world country lmao, do you have any idea how expensive games (and gaming in general) are in most third world countries?
That’s called being a thief
You have such a corporate scum mentality.
Its still stealing.
Oh we ain't waiting for Nintendo to do shit...
Botw looked beautiful on my pc tho
Yeah, their games being exclusive is the only way they can get away with having massively underpowered hardware.
Are the games fun and enjoyable? If so why does it matter if hardware is underpowered? BOTW was one of the highest rated games ever. Enjoyed by millions.
Has to justify his $1000+ rig he uses to play 9.99 titles.
Don't know why this guy is getting downvoted It literally is one of the highest rated games ever what he said is a fact, Don't be fanboys guys, Enjoy the games wherever they are and however you want, a good game is a good game!
edit: fixed a typo
It doesn't matter, I still played every single Nintendo game I wanted on PC, they just never sold it to me, their problem
It's really funny to me whenever someone says "hell freezes over" because there's a city in Michigan named hell, and it freezes over every winter.
Nintendo used to have PC ports but gave up for some reason
I mean I played Tears of the Kingdom on PC at 4k before the game even launched on the Switch
It's a bit of a hot take but exclusive consoles are part of the Nintendo experience.
A good example is that Mario Kart World's steam page meme going around. They lose their charm.
Idk maybe it would be actually amazing if they went multiplatform but it feels wrong to not feed poor indie devs like Nintendo.
I second this. As much as I wanna play Nintendo on my PC, I can forgive them for making exclusive games. Their consoles are still fun and unique and their games are still up to Nintendo quality standard
Id rather pay nintendo then the steal their games.
Do you want gaming to be like Oakland?
I dont
L take no one deserves theft as hard as nintendo does
Is it theft if you are never going to buy them anyway ? Emulation for most people is a case of playing something they otherwise would never get to, and to not emulate it is daft. You're only punishing yourself and there's zero reason to do it.
To not play emulation games if you're never going to own the console is the weirdest shit imo. Just like "oh daddy corporation look, I'm being a good boy!"
Yes.
It is theft.
And this is exactly what I’m talking about. I’m not here defending a corporation. I’m here just trying to get criminals to admit what they are.
because you all seem to think if you change what words you use for everything like “emulation” somehow now you are better then someone who steals
you’re just stealing
Now, if you want to steal and be a criminal, that’s your choice, but just admit that you take things without paying for them.
It doesn’t surprise me that I am outnumbered by criminals. There are a shit ton of criminals. That’s why we have to have cameras fucking everywhere.
That is why I have a switch emulator on my pc
All of them.
Emulation always comes back.
Except for console exclusive multiplayer games
We have those too
Show me Splatoon 3 mp on a pc
Haven't tried but I'm pretty sure you could do it on yuzu
Xbox is tom. Way bigger in size but always fail anyway.
Dear god it’s so accurate! I’m glad I dumped my consoles finally.
Still waiting on Bloodborne though
Use shadps4 it's already completely playable in 1080p and now probably also 1440p. It's already the best way to play you even have a shitton of mods. Only negative is that there are no online servers.
yet. It happened for Demon's Souls, it will happen for shadPS4 too
to be fair the pieces were in place before rpcs3 could even run demon's souls (or support networking at all for that matter) because the game's servers were shut down back in 2018, so there's been a private server called the archstones running since 2019
And an extra decade for gta 6
Emulator.
I know the name of the sub and whatever, but the degree to which some of you people like to hype yourselves up is insane, lame and sad.
This sub is weird. They have thousands to build a PC but cheap out when it comes to buying games and supporting the industry. They’d rather wait for $20 sales or pirate because suddenly everything is too expensive but supporting Nvidia crazy GPU prices is A-ok. Then when game developers start focusing on live service and micro transactions and F2P because no one is bothered to buy games, they complain of “greed”. I like PC gaming but I don’t like PC “gamers”.
I seems you’re making a lot of assumptions here and assuming completely different types of people are the same people and all gamers think the same.
Have you seen the downvotes to comments that suggests piracy is bad for developers? and upvotes in favour of piracy? Lol. Of course not everyone is the same but the average pc gamer on this sub? Willing to pay thousands for a pc rig but not willing to pay for games.
I pirate every sony game that comes to PC because they are a garbage company. People don't do it to save money, they do it to shove it into these garbage corporations.
Ok if the company doesn’t align with your values, then don’t play their games and don’t give them your money….Why are you pirating their games to play if they are a “garbage company”? Clearly something they have produced has some value that you want to play their games. You just don’t want to pay for it and justify stealing by saying it’s because of the company lol
Why do you think they like calling it piracy instead of stealing
All about trying to justify your own shitty behavior
Right? I don’t even care that they’re stealing the game since anyone would take free stuff if offered. But trying to act like one is fucking Batman over it is just cringe lol
Dude, I've pirated games. Im not some sort of Messiah, I was just poor at the time.
If you gave a shit about that you wouldn't play them at all.
I promise you the majority do it to save money. And that’s fine. Stop trying to act like some kind of moral crusader about.
No, you are quite literally just a thief
a criminal
A person that doesn’t wanna pay for things.
It’s literally just your way of making yourself feel better about it when in reality you’re no different then someone that steals power tools from Home Depot.
Eh, stealing a tool means Home Depot doesn't have it any more. Piracy creates a copy.
If you went into Home Depot with a duplication ray and copied the tools you needed, the Home Depot corporation might not be happy about you finding a way to avoid buying stuff, but you didn't steal anything.
Yeah, $1500 gpu is fine but gotta steal all the nintendo games.
The name is unironic
I think some publishers need to learn that the only reason PC gamers buy their games is that it is slightly more convenient than piracy. As soon as that changes nothing is stopping us.
And I'm not even talking about Linux gamers, those are a different breed. Doubt even Nintendo can stop the guy coding his own Nvidia drivers on Arch 🤣
No, that’s not true at all. People work very very hard to not pay Nintendo. This is not about convenience. It’s so much easier to pay Nintendo money for the products.
This is about being a criminal and justifying it.
it's exactly like the PSN account discourse from a while ago. Sony made their games available on Steam, and people continued pirating because "I don't want to make a playstation account".
people here keep going on and on about how it's a service problem, but the truth is that most people here just want free shit. that's all there is to it. they'll justify it a hundred different ways, but behind it all, they just don't want to pay. that's the only reason.
plus people here just hate Nintendo for some reason, even though it's the exact same as every other business, but they'll still keep yelling about "muh most anti-consumer company!!".
Yup.
It’s about not paying.
Just look at how many cameras they have at retail stores lol people love stealing.
Nintendo don't have the incentive
They've mastered price anchoring so their consumers always pay close to full price. Their development costs also haven't spiraled to the same extent as other publishers
Nintendo is the only console I buy for this reason, they actually have exclusives I want and can't on PC easily. Plus it's a handheld
You miss the point.
With PC, you dont need to ask.
If you want to emulate fair enough
My switch was always going round friends houses for social mario kart/smash. Plus it's an easy handheld
It requires extra steps, but with enough fiddling, you can have every game and functionality on a PC, and not give a penny to Nintendo
You wanna lug around your PC to your friends home to play some local coop?
No, gonna Parsec it up
always going round friends houses for social mario kart/smash
Read his statement and then ask yourself again, why Parsec isn't a solution for this.
But it's my solution.
It's not that person's solution. That's fine too.
Gaming is about choice.
It's not even a solution for local multiplayer at all. It is a bandaid fix for online multiplayer, which isn't half as fun as sitting in the same room.
It's local multiplayer over internet.
Again, it doesn't suit you. that's fine. It does suit myself and my friends though. That's also fine.
Well, I'm not hosting on Parsec personally because I'm on Linux, but point stands
You do not get the functionality of the switch. You get the games
Not knocking emulation. But it's not the same as having the consoles for myriad reasons
And they run better than they did on my Switch…sad laughing noises
it's funny you say that when one of the biggest emulator forces on youtube, Nerrel just said "BOTW and TOTK are better played on Switch 2 than Emulator". Also I am not surprised that the updated Switch to Switch 2 games are also running much, much better than emulators right now.
Great for those who bought a Switch 2 but not Switch 1 which is where I had them. Man even a pokemon game couldn’t run well on it…That was demoralizing.
Show me Splatoon 2/3 multiplayer running on a pc
20+ years ago the bottom pic looks wouldn't apply to PCs as they were typically beige boxes. But today's gaming PCs can look pretty as well as perform 😁
Most, except Uncharted 1-3, original God of War games and Bloodborne
I love it when my machine doesnt get bricked whenever I do shaddy stuff
Still waiting for official MGS4 for PC
What’s weirded than console wars ? A pc gamer caring enough to make something like this lol
Oh no, I'll just have to play them at 60fps with 4K graphics packs!
Gonna be a while for PC to emulate switch 2 though.
Damn, we sexy AF.
Just stop buying consoles and their exclusives. Watch how fast they stop doing exclusives
Incredibly millions of people don't listen to this one simple hack!
:( sucks that people keep nuking their own self interests
Any game is a PC game if you know where to look.
Really? I really want to play Astrobot and Mario Kart World. Can you hook me up?
Idk where to find those, I was just making a joke lol
Uh... okay. I've never owned a Nintendo, and I don't feel my life is any less for it.
I bought a switch just for breath of the wild. I never finished it and I no long have a switch. It’s objectively a well loved game, but it wasn’t for me. The single use weapon system did me in. It did teach me to finally start using potions beyond healing in games tho. Played through Morrowind, oblivion, and Skyrim without ever touching a potion that wasnt a health potion.
BotW really is the anti-hoarder game.
Nintendo exclusives will never be native on PC unless something horrible happens.
We don’t need no native ports.
Would be pretty cool if they were
They are PC exclusives for about 2 weeks ahead of their launch on Switch ... At least that's how it was for Tears of the Kingdom and Echoes of Wisdom in my experience lol
Cool. Both emulators for the Switch got shut down because of those type of things unfortunately. And there is no Switch 2 emulator. Maybe one day it will happen again. But not today.
There are Switch emulators still lol 😂 and yes you're right, there will also be Switch 2 emulators one day. Can't wait!!
Nintendo games aren't really bad or anything, just not super impressive and definitely not worth a console and then a 80 dollar premium pricing per title.
I wish I could convince myself of that
Like there's anything worth besides 2 Zelda games on that self bricking piece of trash. And i would be damned if i buy a console just for two games.
The 2 Mario games are really good too
You're probably right. I don't have any nintendo nostalgia, so I'm indifferent to them. I'd try two recent Zelda's, but I can't even be bothered to emulate them.
Also the 2 Mario's and the 2 Splatoons and the 2 mario karts. Tho world should be 60.
Yeah I think every "console exclusive" I have wanted to play I have played on PC (including you nintendo :p)
With enough time all games are PC games.
yarr sail the seas with me friend
Bloodborne tho 😔
The only thing that matters, is on August 26th will you join the fight for democracy.
cries in Bloodborne
Wasn't perfect but I beat it on Pc (while using a mod to make my character look like A2 from Nier Automata).
Real talk, I mainly get Nintendo for the reason that they will never release their game since PC and I wouldn't pirate games if they are easily and officially available
nowadays it's just Nintendo, XBOX is basically an extension of PCs now and Playstation ports most games to PC now
PC primary, Switch for ports of older games/indies (I got it before deck came out), PS/Xbox for anything that ships with denuvo
I just want mlb the show and ncaa football on pc and I’m set
I wish Nintendo would release titles on PC :(
Not needing to buy the same game for "next gen"
BLOODBORNE!!!!
And we'll eventually get them on steam sale for 80% off
Nintendo makes the only console worth owning if you're a PC gamer imo.
...or not if you are into emulation.
One way or another
The only downside of emulation is that you can't play stuff online, my fav series from nintendo is splatoon and I'm an avid ranked player
With poor optimization, mem leaks and akward controls in 1st year of pc port 😶
Umm, emulator and don't need you.. Goodbye!
Fingers crossed fellas
Cries in bloodborne.
Eventually is the key word here.
Means you have to wait for a year at least or it won't arrive at all. Sure there's emulation but that is also in the eventually part.
on the long run we emulate.
Yea PC is great and I never regretted the jump but I am going to be fiending bad when GTA 6 drops on consoles first.
PC + Switch is the best combo
They don't make anything I care that much about anyway. And if they did there's always emulation
You’re gonna be waiting a long time before you get Switch 2 emulation
I'm in no rush. It's unlikely they'll release anything I can't live without anyway.
Someone always finds a way, just might feel like a while because the Switch1 had it pretty quickly.
No such thing as an uncrackable nut. Nintendo could be raking in the dough if they pulled an Xbox and set up a Nintendo E-shop on PC with stuff from the Wii and before, but since they don't want to...
Do you wanna buy a Wii Remote for your PC?
No, it becomes easier to pirate the games if you do that and as you can tell from the comments here, people are very ready to steal all of Nintendo‘s games.
We will wether or not its by emulation or official ports
That’s why the saying exists - in the console war, PC wins.
The console gamers ALWAYS forget about the games exclusive to us... PC! Of course the indie market is an obvious one, but also grand strategy games quite a few of them are PC only like EU4 (soon 5) and HOI4 meanwhile American and Euro Truck Sim are also PC only and both are decently popular. Counter Strike 2 is huge and it isn't on consoles, BeamNG Drive is also PC only. Like let's go, whenever console fans parade their "exclusives" we can just show off our library lol. Besides anything pre 8th gen can also still run on a PC... quite often with nice resolutions and stuff at least when patched up vs consoles where they are unavailable on current gen or stuck at base 720p settings on Xbox via 360 emulation. Even then a game from 2015 odds are on PC you can do 4K high refresh pretty easy on a mid range rig but then on console? Odds are it was never updated past the base PS4 1080p 30fps settings... ouch.
And of course yeah Microsoft puts games on PC, Sony is putting games on PC faster than before (unless it's Gran Turismo for some reason), Nintendo is the only exception but Switch 1 emulation got quite far and considering 2 already got hacked... I'm sure Switch 2 will be emulated in due time.
He... hehehe... emulation. Nintendo gets 0 money. We get it for free. If they want it to stay exclusive then we will just sail the high seas. They arent smarter then a million pissed off nerds with $4k pcs and a lot of free time
Oh no I cant play Donkey Kong for 90$. Anyways...
*70
It's called an emulator sweaty 💅
Even nintendo's stuff get emulated eventually. People with lots of elbow grease will find a way.
I have more games on my steam account than I have time to play them. I have a Switch and it's been years since I last played it seriously.
And for free!
I play GBA, 3DS, and Switch games on my PC 👍🏻
That's what emulators are for
Everyone that says we should steal Nintendo‘s products and not give them any money. I want you to seriously think about what games would be like if Nintendo never existed.
Do y’all really wanna just be stuck with call of duty and FIFA?
I actually enjoyed Nintendo‘s games. That’s why I give them money if you enjoy their products and don’t give them money you are just a thief.
You can sit around and come up with fancy words to try to make it sound like something it isn’t but at the end of the day if you steal games from Nintendo, you are just a criminal
no different than the person that steals from target
Xbox doesn't even have exclusives anymore all Xbox games are pc
All of those are last gen console. No current new games are exclusive.
You weren't specifying about current gen games in your original comment though
anymore
Did you see this. 17 games from older consoles they have. No current xbox game will be exclusive ever again.
Xbox doesn't even have exclusives anymore all Xbox games are pc
The way you quoted it implied that there are no exclusives left whatsoever and that all of them are available on PC, which is incorrect. It doesn't say anything about current gen games specifically.
What you should've written instead is "Xbox doesn't make console exclusives any more".
Am I the only one that thinks that Nintendo will brick all Switch 2 when they sunset the platform?
Why would they? Have they bricked 3DS, the Wii U...? No, they will just close online services but you'll be able to play your physical copies and your previously downloaded games
And for less. With no online fees.
Why’s the cat gotta be so sexy?
I'm still waiting for MGS4! (I know the title is about Nintendo but I'm referencing the image)
Mfs in mid 30's and will wait for a proper emulator in 3-8 years for it to be a decent experience
nintendo exclusives are only exclusive unless you know how to sail
I don't give a fuck about Mario, bro.
Oh we will emulate them, all in due time...
On average you play nintendo games way before any other console ports to pc, most of them right on the release
Or even before release as some of them tend to be leaked. Let's hope we get a switch 2 emulator going soon.
It's not going to happen for a while. Switch 2 games a very different structure compared to Switch 1, and we have zero ways of actually hacking the console or dumping the games. It'll be years if we're lucky.
Unless Nintendo has suddenly and miraculously managed to become competent at security for the first time ever, I doubt it'll take more than a year.
They haven't. In fact, the hacking community has already desoldered the CPU, mapped it out, and resoldered it with it booting successfully afterward.
This means they are well on their way to making things like modchips and custom firmwares.
Hackers already have their hands on a nintendo switch with factory testing firmware instead of the switch OS so... they have the beginning framework of code that runs on the console that nintendo cannot kill so a matter of time dissecting that to develop a unbrick tool before they go hog wild on the game OS
Emulation is cool, but I actually really like the focus Nintendo puts Into local co op. Me, my wife, some friends, or my kids can all jump in and play Mario kart or whatever and there's no jank. There's no awkward setup or anything off-putting to a casual gaming night.
I vote PC and Nintendo for the best experience
We play Mario Party and Mario Kart on a big TV with my PC at my house. No jank. 4K.
One way or another...
Emulating DLSS on non NVIDIA cards is going to be impossible
So they said about Bloodborne for years
isnt that... playable now?
Fanmade playable... Not offical playable
Kind of. It's incredibly janky and prone to crashing with awful performance from last I heard (but I'll admit I could be out of date).
Yeah, you're a little out of date. It's not perfect, but it's playable.
Ah, fair enough. I'll admit I have literally zero interest in Bloodborne, so I honestly haven't kept up with it lol
An exception does not make the rule
AHOY MATEYYY! 🏴☠️☠️🗡️
Aaaahhhrrrr!!!
