Believe it or not, the Galarian starters main body actually does get larger, with Cinderace being the largest (if we exclude Inteleon’s tail). That being said, I absolutely love the fact that their niche characteristics get enhanced.
G-Max Cinderace is so cool.
I LOVE the long ears and the gigantic fireball.
When I Giagantamax, I too get big balls
Gen 6: Mega Evolution (You can evolve Pokémon further but temporarily)
Gen 7: Z Moves (You can do crazy moves, and you have to sit through long animations)
Gen 8: Dynamax (Pokemon become huge and do more damage)
Gen 9: Terralitizied (Your Pokémon get a crystal on their head that changes their typing)
Who knows what Gen 10 gimmick they'll come up with next?
Gen 10: Gun (your Pokemon has a gun)
Can we choose the type of gun or is this random per pokemon IVs?
You can gun-breed if you need an Adamant Nature with an AK-47
For his neutral special, he wields a gun
Ok, but armed Pokemon would be cool.
Not everyone would get a gun, but imagine Machamp with swords or Meowstic with a swarm of psychically controlled arrows.
Just so they can sue Palworld again
I mean you joke but with the whole copyright situation with them and the other game... I could see them doing this to taunt them.
Combining moves?
This comment reminds me of how Ogerpon and Terapagos are the only Pokemon that kinda changes after terastalization. So if we ever get a legends paldea hopefully they go back and something special to other pokemon
The long awaited “Triple type gimmick”
Speaking of Triple, I remember that in Gen 5 and Gen 6, there used to be Triple Battles and Rotation Battles, but they were removed after Gen 6.
Triple battles I could give or take, but rotation battles genuinely had a good mechanic and made you strategize even more in battle, wish they stayed
is cibderace’s fireball sentient? this genuinely has always bothered me
Maybe it's like Skeledirge's flame bird
What? Rillaboom DEFINITELY gets bigger. What are you on ?
GMax Tinkaton except with an even bigger hammer.
I don’t know if Alcreme is a good example here. I thought it just sits atop a giant cake.

I made this
Gmax forms should be retconned to mega forms outside Galar
Gmax designs and megaevolution designs have completely different design philosophies this makes no sense. They're not both just "what if fourth evolution"
A regular sized gmax meowth, copperajah, inteleon, whatever would look ridiculous
Yeah well then you’ll never see them again because the in lore reason for dynamax is energy within Galar itself
Yeah I don't think anyone thought they were coming back in a mainline game?
It may come back in champions since tera is also region specific and they'll probably just say "well there's tera crystals here too" just like they could give some handwavy lore excuse as to why there could be dmax energy in wherever champions takes place (Calyrex makes his own energy so there's stuff to work with) if they even bother to justify it. But yeah I don't think anyone thought gmax forms were coming back. Just like how teras and z moves are probably also not coming back in a mainline game
Also, lore has never been why gamefreak does anything. If they wanna remake unova and for some reason include dynamax, they will
As if the same thing wasn't said about Mega Evolutions, but surprise, they are back in Alola and Kanto.
The megas were tied to keystones? You can bring a keystone with you anywhere…
Except there is an NPC in Sun and Moon that said that Mega Evolutions should not be possible in Alola.
Bruh I hate how inconsistent pokemon lore is
Gonna agree with this. At least for some. I think those that are really just slight design alterations + now big, can just reduce in size and become a mega design.
But for the starters shown, pika, moewth, eevee, and a few others… nah.
Yeah agreed. Not talking about the ones who aren’t fully evolved but definitely ones like Kingler, Butterfree, Orbeetle,
*most gmax Pokémon become disproportionate, like the Galar starters. It's one of the reasons I think the GMax gene is actually resistance to DMax energy/galar particles.
Snorlax, Corvinight, and possibly Copperajah are the only ones that stay pretty much in proportion.
Honestly, G-Max Corviknight is a real let down. It's completely underwhelming and lacks a real interesting catch outside of a few dinky wing-dings.
You can't improve on perfection
People whose favorite Pokémon is Rayquaza might disagree
I have to agree. I like that they at least tried something by giving it the birds but the design is mostly just Corviknight but the armour looks a bit different at the front and its wings glow red.
hatterene?
Is tricky, but still isn't proportionate. It's true body is still pretty small, it all goes to the Hair that it uses as a false body
What are you talking about, so so many of them stay mostly in proportion. Charizard, Pikachu, Machamp, Kingler, Lapras, Garbodor, Melmetal, almost all of them. The Galar starters are the outliers just like OP is saying.
Charizard's wings stay normal size, and the fire on its tail gets extra large to compensate.
Pikachu's tail gets most of the growth, becoming a massive lightning rod, while its body becomes squat
Kingler's limbs become excessively long
Lapras' shell triples in size compared to the rest of its body
Garbodor becomes bottom heavy, with some of its weirder bits of garbage becoming massive
Melmetal is much lankier than its original form
Machamp is a fair point, though. I can't argue that
Really feels like you've just decided this is a coherent design philosophy and are working really hard to make it fit where it doesn't.
Pikachu's tail gets longer, but its entire body is huge. Charizard doesn't have wings in its GMAX form, they just become fire. Garbodor has almost exactly the same proportions except it doesn't have legs. Drednaw is just bigger and bulkier.
Their body proportions aren't EXACTLY the same, sure, but none of these examples are anywhere near as pronounced as the starters in changing proportions.
Taking one body part and stretching it out of proportion is like a third of them, MAX. (no pun intended. Way way more than the three you listed maintain their proportions.
