I just binged Lost Galaxy recently. If it was here destiny to become a ranger, shouldn’t she have pulled it out then?
She wasn't ready yet.
Probably wasn’t worthy of it yet. I mean your adult self is different from your kid self so it’s possible that she only became worthy of the Quasar Saber when she got older and wiser.
Also, at that time, there was no need for the Galaxy Rangers. Hell, at that point, Rita was probably still in her dumpster on Nemesis.
And note that I called the planet where the dumpster was found, Nemesis. It's called that in episode 1 of Zyuranger. Also, the sky is different there and on the moon. The moon is black as you would expect, and a different colour when the dumpster is found.
Agreed
Right people at the right time. Leo was also able to later pull it out after not originally being able to, after all.
When did he try and pull it out
It was in both Trakeena's Revenge and Forever Red.
Is that where he was originally unable to?
Leo never pulled out the saber prior to returning it in the final episode of Lost Galaxy. Only times we see him retrieve it personally was during Trakeenas Revenge and Forever Red.
My theory is that becoming a successful Galaxy Ranger essentially makes you an additional chosen one.
Idk I feel like he was always able to. Just because he wasn't the one who pulled it, doesn't mean he was chosen for it. Kind of the whole point of his storyline.
I don't think they ever actually confirmed it one way or another. I know part of his arc was how he felt that he shouldn't be the Red Ranger because he didn't pull out the saber, and learning that he was indeed just as worthy, but they never established whether he could have pulled it out and just didn't get the opportunity to do it personally.
huh? So where is the OP getting this notion from:
"Leo was also able to later pull it out after not originally being able to, after all."
Dunno, Leo never unsuccessfully pulled it out. He was the only one who became a Ranger (prior to Karone) who never pulled out a saber
I know...tell that to the OP who said otherwise.
Leo never failed to pull the saber from the stone. Mike simply pulled out the saber and handed it off to Leo. But obviously we know later on that Leo was obviously worthy to reclaim the saber since he's done so multiple times. If he was worthy to pull it out the first time on Mirinoi though? We don't have an answer to that.
IIRC, kid Maya said something like, "I can feel it moving!" which gives me the impression that she didn't have the strength to pull it out yet and would only be able to once she reached adulthood.
Probably the wrong saber.
I thought so too, so i checked. Its the right saber
Looks like the left to me :v
It's a matter of perspective
I remember thinking that the first time I watch it
There is a 73 percent chance that being trapped in a sword sucks.
While i can't tell the Saber animal due to the low quality of the screenshot, if the First Episode is anything to go by then she was trying to pull out the Pink Saber, the Yellow Saber was on the other side.
You could also argue that she possibly wasn't worthy yet.
I think it’s the yellow saber and the other girl I think was trying to pull the blue saber. As much as I can tell from this low quality shot the shapes match the yellow and blue sabers.
If we go off how they are placed in Quasar Quest part 2, from left to right when looking at it from the frong it goes: Pink, Blue, Red, Green Yellow.
So yes her friend is trying to pull out Blue but, unless someone moved the swords around, Maya is trying to pull out Pink in the flashback.
I think it was less of a thing about destiny, and more about the right person being there at the right time. Like Leo wasn't the one to originally pull the sword from the stone, but was able to do it again later in the team up with Lightspeed rescue and Forever red.
Leo was able to use the power of the Quasar Saber as well, despite Mike being the one who've originally pulled the sword.
It’s entirely possible she tried the wrong sword, or was simply to young/not needed.
I think it’s more of the latter since as far as I can tell Maya was pulling on the yellow saber while the friend was pulling on the sword that would become Kai’s. Mainly cause of the pentagon shaped emblem on the right sword looking like the gorilla one.
she wasn't ready yet
She didn't swallow half a cake to have the necessary strength.
Destiny happens in the right circumstance, not because you approached something when you were younger. It clearly wasn't the right time.
In addition to the "right person right time" thing, there is a bit to be said about that attempt and ceremony we saw at the beginning of the series being a bit (for lack of a better word) selfish.
The lore about "whoever pulls it out will be a great warrior for justice" kind of thing, so naturally it would attract people to try. While wanting to be a hero can be admirable, it is the "want" part that can make one unworthy. Wanting it, even if with the purest and truest of intentions, has some implications about how worthy one may be.
When Mike and the others pulled out the sabers, they didn't do it out of wanting to be heroes. They did it because they were actively answering the call of duty. They needed it. This is indeed where what people are saying about the right people at the right time comes up. But I feel this is all a distinct element.
It may have been her destiny but it wasn’t her time
She's not yet ready; It's not yet the right time, and She's destined to be the Yellow Ranger and is pulling on the Pink Saber.
Maybe Maya wasn't ready back then & at the time, the Quasar Sabers didn't choose her & her friend. I mean, Mike originally pulled the red Quasar Saber, but afterwards, Leo was able to use the power as well as able to pull the sword out himself during Trakeena's Revenge & the Forever Red crossover, so maybe the Sabers only accepts those who've earned the right to use the power & the Quasar Sabers accepted adult Maya because she was ready to defend & protect her people.
Its also implied that both Kendrix and Karone can pull out the pink saber when needed.
It did budge!
Also depends if she tried to pull the yellow quasar saber out
I mean Would you trust a child with a weapon that powerful?
Which one does she pull when she is older?
She pulls the yellow saber which has a wolf on it (the one on the far right)
No, I mean in relation to the position of the one she is pulling as a kid... Same one or a different spot?
I believe it’s the same one judging by the fact the friend on the right seems to be pulling the gorilla one due to the pentagon shaped emblem on it looking like the gorilla head
They should've given her the Hero of Time treatment and trapped her body until she was old enough and come back when everyone else pulled their Saber. Ocarina of Time.
I do remember in this scene that she said it budged a little. So maybe she was chosen, it just wasn't the right time
Ah good Ol' Jetix.... The Lesser Fox Kids😅
Anyone else dislike the term quasar?
Not really? Fits with the space/galaxy theming they were still doing to follow up on PR in Space. I dunno, I guess Celestial Saber has a nice ring to it though too.
Stellar name.
What's wrong with the term quasar? It's a spacial term plus one of the most powerful event in space so it's perfect
As a Dungeon Crawler Carl fan, it's also the name of a foul mouthed, wise cracking alien lawyer.
He takes some of the shine away from the name tbh.
wait so you dislike the term because it's also the name of a character from a series that came out over 20 years after the show aired? It's just a scientific space term that both series use
Nothing. Apparently it's a hot take but not a fan of the term that's all.
yeah, they should've call it the "rob mcelhenney saber" instead.
Huh
I believe the implication is the sword chooses you and can choose to change its mind if it deems so. It’s likely that it did not deem maya worthy as a child rightfully so, but as she grew and exhibited traits worthy of the sword, she became chosen in its eyes. Same as Leo, he likely wouldn’t have pulled it out but when he chose to fight after Mike fell, it chose Leo as its new warrior. Further shown in that they are sentient enough to attack anyone not worthy.
It was probably a matter of the right people, at the right time
This is it. It didn’t even have to be specific people, as Mike pulled it the first time but Leo could pull it later.
And I don't think Karone could have wielded the saber during her Astronema days.
And also right Quasar Saber, she's attempting to pull the pink saber out, which as shown isn't her color.
The "right" Saber is debatable. If it was a matter of pulling them at the right time, I don't think the sabers are going "Ope, a guy is touching me, can't have him be pink now, can I?"
Why not? They're not one single entity, and they rejected all kinds of people before the team had a crack at it.
I feel it's more they have one wielder in mind and that just so happened to be who pulled them out.
That's how destiny works right?
Yep, beat me to the punch.
Right? Imagine some kid becoming a Power Range- oh right 😬
