I’m looking to get away from my bmw, but stay with luxury/sport-ish Either way I came across this GS 300
Factory paint Beautiful rims Interior is 6.5/10 some rips on steering wheel and seat- Overall it looks nice
The engine has a “refresh” not rebuild And has all the paperwork for it
Chasis has 260k miles Rebuild supposedly has 108k? All details in photos
GS's are awesome, that being said I would probably try and find a stock one if I were you.
I’m having a hard time seeing a straight/un-damaged body panel.
Not enough info on your car. But I personally would not touch that Lexus with a 10ft pole. That is a DONK lol
That gs is hacked the fuck up I'd bet
You're trading one headache for another, and this one will be unfamiliar to you. What has been done in regards to a refreshed 2j? Go find a cleaner stock example of literally any car and not someone else's project
The bodywork looks like it was done with a tube sock full of walnuts.
Id stick with the bmw, or if you really like this body style find a lower miles one that hasnt been dicked with.
Sorry those wheels are awful
The wheels are the best part
My 150k mile GS had a lazier transmission than an E46, leaked oil bad, and only made 220hp. I replaced the rear main seal and vvt seal and the leaking continued from an unknown location. Other than that it was a good car, a little bit sporty, very comfy, and very cool. If I could do it all again I'd get a manual E46/E36/E39 instead though.
Not this one
I've had this generation of Lexus GS.
There pretty neat cars.
This example is not one of them.
I suggest you find a stock one with lower mileage.
I paid $1200 for this one. Traded for a civic ex. Good car. Ugly AF though.
I have 2 of these gs’s! Great cars!! One all oem+, the other one has proper shit done to it, That being said, I wouldn’t buy one that’s been modified by someone else
What bmw? Auto or stick? This Lexus is a driven hard put away wet auto. Would really look into an untouched example.
Dont do it, one look at those god awful wheels told me everything, and it got worse as I read more
Lexus looks ruined from here. Nobody has ever improved a car by adding a stance like that. Ick. And probably falling apart. And handles like ass.
The car has 260k on Chasis and he put in a new 2jz jam motor in it with 108k miles- receipts and everything
DORIFTOOOOOOOO
i would bet anything this car is absolutely clapped. definitely would rather have a lexus than an bimmer but probably not this one lol
i mean i would go look at it, who knows, this dude might spend all his time creeping and cruising but it has all the drift beater red flags. also audio is always a huge thing for someone getting into cars, people getting into cars do a lot of shit wrong and make a bunch of mistakes that make good cars into shitboxes. it just is what it is.
depends what your car is worth vs. what this car is realistically worth. personally i wouldnt consider a straight trade regardless, i want what my car is worth and then ill go pay for what another car is worth, straight trades are usually people looking for a comeup on your loss.
just my two cents.
Better than me trading my ls400 for a clapped out e39… I was a dumb stupid idiot 19yo
If I could go back in time, I’d punch 19yo me in the dick before I handed the keys over and tell him of the horrors that e39 would bring, while the LS ran perfectly
Only if you dont like working on cars and are sick of looking for your tripple squares.
Shoot sorry my car- 2005 bmw 645ci Maintance and carfax histor (valve stem seal, coolant transfer pipes, gaskets, all the major maintance has been done.) I replaced the o2 sensor and thermostat cause recently have been having emmisons trouble - come to find out I’m getting more codes for secondary air system and catalytic converter codes. I don’t know if I should spend more on my car or find something else
This all just sounds like maintenance items
If you don't want to maintain a car don't buy a 20 year old one
Wow you’re smart! You can’t read 😂 yea it is maintained. It’s everything I’ve done to my car- your point is? I want something different then bmw. simple as that
Oh god don't do it OP. If you really want one find one that is stock. That thing is absolutely ruined...
Haha reading the comments idk why I even considered- I’ve been looking at GS for a minute but everyone is right this thing is shit
DONT. The worst car I ever bought was a modified GS. It was a daily driver and I was young and thought the V8 was cool. I got “taken for a ride” and spent more than I paid for the car in the first month before calling it quits and just buying an old Camry that still runs today with only maintenance.
I spent $4k on a heavily modified GS400, and it turns out the thing was absolutely as clapped as you could ever imagine and I was just too young and dumb to realize all the shoddy work and corners that had been cut. I then spent $6k in a month trying to keep it running. Things only got worse and I scrapped it.
Yes
that car features numerous red flags. also hope you see that door dent
Not a dent, the shadow is straight. But yeah, don't do it, OP. Haha.
Edit for clarification: The cast shadow of the side mirror going right over what appears to be a dent.
Bruh what that door is fucked
If it was a dent, the shadow wouldn't be straight.
Are you talking about the shadow below the car?? Look at the insane wave in the reflections along the door. It's very unlikely that the exact portion of the door with the dent is what's casting the shadow.
The shadow of the side mirror on the door.
Op post more pics. If the door was straight it wouldn't have such a violent distortion.
I think what looks like violent distortion is just part of a driveway (going up a hill besides the house?) If it was a dent, it's impossible for the side mirror shadow to be straight.
There is indeed a dent
boom i've spent my time here wisely
The amount that shadow would distort from a dent would be minimal. If it were a dent multiple inches deep it'd be noticeable but we're looking at it fairly straight on with what is likely a shallow but large dent. The distortion is along what is clearly a driveway seam along gravel. Unless the driveway as well as the gravel have a 1ft high x 6 in wide giant vertical lump.
Bro, what? There's a dent in the door. The dent is concave. The door above and below it is straight though. How would that dent cast a shadow? It would have to be dented all the way down to the side skirt to be visible on the shadow.
The shadow of the side mirror right over the 'dent.'
Ah, I see what you mean. I didn't spot the mirror shadow. My bad.
Still, I'd rather trust the super warped reflection on the side of the door more than the shadow. The reflection doesn't just warp like that without a panel shape irregularity.
I think what looks like warping is just a driveway on the side of a house (possibly going uphill a bit?)
Op confirmed a dent but I admire your creative train of optical thought
I stand corrected. :)
Surely though, there is some extended driveway there? I can't imagine it's all reflection distortion of a straight line...
