Help jog this memory out for me

I have this memory in my head of a scene where Jackie and Fred are eating together in silence at her house, and the vibe is that their relationship is over. Was that a scene or am I imagining things?

Edit: thank you everyone!!! I just love all those small human moments from the show.

You remember correctly, it was the scene where they decided to split.

They were eating dinner that Jackie made at home. There was a little small talk between them and then one said it's over isn't it and the other agreed.

I love that scene so much. No big drag out fight. They just realize their relationship is finished and that's it

I'm happy they didn't do the big drag out fight breakup.

But I hated to see Fred go. He was a fun character and a great actor. Jackie would have stayed a much more interesting character with him. Laurie's talents were just wasted after their breakup.

You’ve got to be kidding me. Laurie was so good at being Jackie always. Fred leaving the show was for the best. Laurie is one of the best actors ever. It’s why her career is still going.

I think they were more talking about the change of Jackie. I always preferred the Jackie of the early seasons. Once they started writing the character as more wacky/overly-neurotic, the character lost a lot for me. They were so lucky to have an actress as talented as Laurie. Because it takes talent when a character starts changing that much

Laurie was wise as an actress and didn't rely on the Jackie character for her career. She played it well as written because she is a great actress. Fortunately, she branched out into many other roles.

Oooh disagree. The Fred that left was a welcome goodbye. The original pre-shaved Fred was totally awesome. Had he stayed, he and Jackie coulda made it. Wackir Jackie has nothing on Aunt Jackie of seasons 1-3.

That is the scene they decide the relationship is over.

Didn’t Jackie basically say, “I think we’re done, Fred.” And he responded with something along the lines that he’d move out?

"I think it's over, Fred."

"Yeah, I think so too. I'll pack tonight."

And that slow, steady dolly in on the table -- masterful.

Thank you!!! It was driving me nuts!!

I do wish Fred had stuck around. It seems unrealistic that he'd just abandon his son, especially after starting to go through the process to get custody of him, and I liked his character.

I legit just watched this episode! It's such a sad scene, honestly.

Yet another streaming-dropped post-credit scene, I presume? So even when critical to story plot and overall show direction, huh?

I watched this on Peacock the other day. The scene is still there but it does have the rolling credits and seems shorter than the original. I hate that critical moments and jokes are being cut in the name of modernizing/remastering the series though.

Peacock has cut so many scenes and jokes out of the shows I hope that's not one they cut. It’s pretty important.
