Fiorentina pulled an all-time sell high move, good lord. I remember thinking this guy looked like Fernando Torres.
And now he looks like Chelsea Fernando Torres!
Or Milan Fernando Torres.
Sigh...don't remind me
Wtf, when did he play for you?
13/14 or 14/15 “play” isn’t quite the word I’d use to describe what he was going though
That Torres-Cerci combo was hitting like fentantyl
That Torres overhead kick lives rent free in my head. When he gave it back to the crosser essentially. He scored a great header his first game though
His debut was really good. Sadly that was about it.
Lol i thought Cerci was a baller but turned out to be a fraud
Atlético Legend, Alessio Fucking Cerci. So many years have passed and he is still remembered as a meme
He was THE player to sign on one of the early football manager games. And that’s literally all I’ve known his name for ever since.
Actually please remind me; didn't even remember him playing for you lol; only remember Liverpool, Chelsea and Atleti
The first half of the 14/15 season, and he only scored one goal in like 10 appearances. It was between Chelsea and going back to Atletico. There's not much reason to remember it
I mean he was finished when he left us, so I can only imagine what he was like 4 or 5 seasons later.
It's crazy to think at one point the guy could have probably won a ballon dor.
If he had signed for Chelsea or United instead of Liverpool he probably would have had a long and successful career. With us though, there was no backup for him and we rushed him back too early from every injury. Broke him down unfortunately.
A shell of what he used to be, unfortunately. He was fantastic to watch with Liverpool when he was at his peak
TIL he played for Milan??
Fernando Torres played for Milan?
Can't blame the lack of effort! He tried so hard
Hey at least Chelsea Fernando Torres score the goal at the 2012 UCL semi final that so good that made Gary Neville "came".
Not just fiorentina, vlahovic's agent too. He's on €19m gross
I still don't get how the agent market still hasn't actually gotten those fees down by competition.
Sure they manage to get a higher number out of anything, but I do wonder if it really adds a lot of if they get such a fee themselves.
I genuinely believe that he'd be a top, top striker if he'd moved to Arsenal or any club but Juventus. Guess we'll never know.
Im not gonna act like we are some crazy offensive output team but im not joking when i say Vlahovic have missed so many sitters and wasted so many simple passes we would have scored so much more if he just didnt lose all his football skills 2 years ago... Its actually crazy how shit he became idk
He would fit right in at United. Hope not though
I wouldnt wish that on anyone except Inter maybe haha
xG says he’s scoring what is expected of him. That said, playing for a hyper offensive team ≠ strikers generating high xG
Yeah then xG is not showing the full picture. Like if u rly dont believe me u can go and check every single match thread from 2 years ago until now or even better watch our games and u know im not talking shit here.
It's kind of the nature of XG. a good chance is like .3 so if you botch 3 good chances and score one low chance that cancels out. so if you miss 6 sitters in the season you only need two xg goals to catch up
I’m not trying to invalidate your observations. Even by xG standards, Vlahovic is underwhelming as good strikers produce high xG numbers. It’s just more objective than saying he misses a lot of sitters as strikers are going to do that anyways.
Ah ok fair enough mate.
I really wanted it to work out for him here but he got too many flaws and hes way too fixated shutting his haters up (i think).
The guy needs like 6 shot attempts just to hit the target. He legit doesn't know what to do in the box.
That guy's rising star made me afraid of Serbia's football team for a while, ngl. I feared another Džeko
Fernando and dusan the only similarity is their handsomeness, skill wise Torres was much more complete. Dusan vlahovic is like that one season of michu
this guy looked like Fernando Torres
You could say he still does
Poor Susan, anyway
“Haaland vs Vlahovic” was actually a debate once amongst our fanbase
Buyouts so hot right now
Teams finally beating the sunk cost fallacy? Big if true
It's a bit worse than your usual sunk cost fallacy when someone is so bad you are literally just paying them to fuck off.
Bradley Beal next
Bradly Beal to Chelsea, 8 year contract, no trade clause
Will fit great alongside Dame on a minimum
A proper win now move from Mat Ishbia. Especially with the west being so weak, now is the time to strike!
I can't imagine Vlahovic being compared to Damien Lillard but sure
Fiorentina have the chance to do the funniest thing.
They are not a badly run club. They won’t do it.
Or they will do it, he'll score 50 goals, and you buy him back next summer for another 85m
Don't doubt the spectacularly stupid things our club can do.
The last player you bought from us was pretty good so Vlahovic will be good to.
Moise or Fagioli?
I would say Moise since he turned into a good striker since leaving us.
I like the way you think
Are you sure you understand what that meme means? The joke would very much be on Fiorentina if they signed him to the kind of wages he wants.
I’m familiar with his wage demands, I just thought it would be funny if they did get him back lol
It would be funnier if Vlahovic starts scoring when he goes back to Fiorentina
Really? We've never paid anyone what Dusan makes.
4th striker who says no?
5th behind Pio
Swap with Thuram plz
You joke, but somebody proposed that in our sub last week I think
How close is that guy too the inter board asking for a friend
Lets burn him at the stake lol
What an extreme measure to take on a former 60 mil plus striker. No wonder the markets barren. No amount of money guarantees anything
90m+, they paid 70+10m to fiorentina and 11.6m in agent fees just to sign him
Holy moly and I thought out benteke signing was worse
Couldn't have happened to a nicer club
Money has never ever guaranteed anything, clubs just used to be smart about spending so the prices seemed more reasonable. Expensive flops have always happened, now they’re just a lot more expensive.
Mikel: I can fix hi-
The whole fanbase: NO!
If he played for Chelsea he’d be at the emirates already
Instant 70M big signing.
Tbf i think it would be a good transfer. Y‘all just need a striker who can put it behind the goalie(look at Haaland at City) and i think Vlahovic is still capable of that. He would be way cheaper than Gyökeres, too.
Oh shit why didn"t we think about that. It's so easy, just get the free agent guy and tell him to put the ball behind the goalie like Haaland. Duh.
I already know that people on this sub don’t watch Serie A, but fans of big clubs going ‘Could be worth a punt!’ about Vlahovic on a free really hammers home the point.
Honest question what went wrong with him, did he ever fit in? he seemed like a top prospect at the time and Juventus was his boyhood club, I kinda feel bad for him.
Dusan is a good poacher and he is quality with free kicks and from the spot, unfortunately his touch and his buildup play has not improved at all. Many attacking patterns(or counters) are ruined because the ball just bounces off of him or he gets bullied by most defenders.
His main issue is his mentality, because he starts getting frustrated when one thing goes wrong and completely loses his focus for the rest of the game. You see him argue with the ref or look disinterested in many games, it's ridiculous.
How is he getting bullied by most defenders when he‘s 1.90m lol
He has the worst balance I’ve ever seen from a professional footballer
Thats what we all ask ourselves everytime we watch him play....
Good poacher
Missing multiple close range shots
Funny and sad.
He doesn't miss much when he's focused... issue is it takes one shove from a defender to get under his skin and then he loses focus. It's sad af.
Unless he's got prohibitive wages, surely someone snaps this guy up on a free? Almost 1 in 2 in the league over 4 seasons isn't terrible.
His wages are insane, but I don't see anyone else paying him what he's been earning at Juve
If juve pays him off he probably is fine with a lower wage
He earns close to 400k per week, no one is touching him with a 10 foot pole.
Well he earns fuck all if juventus pay him off. If that doesn't happen then he will also earn fuck all after his juventus contract is up in a year.
If he wants to play football for another club then he will need to accept realistic wages
Getting his contract terminated is just the best win possible for him tbf. He gets paid and avoids eating bench for a year and devaluing himself. He also becomes a free agent and they usually gets higher salaries to compensate for the absence of transfer fees. He might get to keep his salary pretty high and walk away from his juve fiasco pretty much clean.
they usually gets higher salaries to compensate for the absence of transfer fees
I believe that's changing somewhat now e.g. Mbappe. The player gets a huge signing bonus and decent wages within the existing structure.
Vlahovic can still go to a decent club and get a decent payout, but i doubt he'll demand high wages. Would be more likely for a signing bonus and mid tier wages to try and prove himself and hopefully position himself for another big renewal/move before 29.
Depends on what juve offer him to terminate the contract and what his motivations are.
He might prefer to sit on the bench and earn that guaranteed 20million (assuming 400k/wk) rather than take a payout andthen sign a contract with a new on 80k/wk or 4mil/yr (for example) which would then take him 5yrs to earn that 20mil.
If he rots on the bench for a year then he will still be able to get himself a new contract elsewhere on similar money he'd earn if he were to leave juventus now....which is clearly not top dollar
No matter the scenario he's in a good spot money wise. I would think that he prefers rotting on the bench and getting the full payout since money seems to be his priority. Iirc he got an offer from another Italian club (Napoli? Don't quote me on the specific club) a couple days ago and it fell trough because he refused.
Well, he doesn't hence why Juve wants to get rid of him in first place
I think his contract costs with transfer fee and wages Juventus like 30-40M annually. However, I am not 100% sure, if someone knows the figures I would like to know for sure.
He is on 373,846/week that's Euros, without bonuses
If he was that good someone would want him.
Damn I remember when I really wanted him at Arsenal. What happened?
He's been suffering from pubalgia and got way too muscular imho. Probably the two things are correlated. He lost all of his agility and started spiraling with his confidence. If you watch his games right after we bought him you would ask yourself if you're even watching the same player.
Honestly if this happens we should kick the tyres
I mean, the last thing you guys need is a player on high wages who just falls apart and provides nothing of value. Now that I think of it. Great idea. Sign him up!
If he gets bought out, no one will offer high wages.
On a free he could easily get 150k from the Prem. Would make him difficult to shift if he completely flopped, but he's still probably worth that much just not the 300k juve pay him
Agree 100% if he can get picked up for free then we should be all over him with some caution of course. No crazy contract with high wages.
“I’m gonna pay you a hundred dollars to fuck off”
Does that even make sense? Would it really be that hard for him to get a new club if they had to pay a small fee for him?
Yes, he's on absurd wages and knows he won't get anything close to them elsewhere, so he just simply doesn't budge on his demands, making it really hard for Juve to get rid. A good buyout and then moving to some other club (of his desire) might entice him tho
No club is gonna buy him because his wages are too damn high, so by terminating at least he can look for a club willing to use the "free signing" to compensate for that. Getting rid of his wages would already help the club a lot.
All in all, there's no denying it, it's a terrible deal no matter how you look at it, but we need to send him out and I guess that would be the easiest way to do that. Of course he can just sit on his contract and not play for a whole year, but I don't think he's gonna do that because then once he's free he won't have any leverage.
It’s always always wages when these situations crop up. Very few clubs in the world can even pay his wages.
Vlahovic's agent is a beast
Cleveland Browns levels of wasting money
I remember when people were of the opinion that he will score 100 goals for Juve in less matches as compared to CR7..yeahh well
This has United written all over it
Here's hoping!
Some people make so much money for producing such little value. I wish I had such luck in life
Perhaps a reunion with Mitrovic?
Is he that bad? I know he makes a lot but holy
The ego this guy has is insane. No club in the world will give him the wages he’s currently on for how little he offers
He earns 24 million a year? what the hell!? The guy doesn't ever deserve 10 million a year imo. At most 7-8
He earns more than Kane iirc lol
He has a delayed salary. He earned much less at the beginning than he does now
His agents have been horrible to him. They don’t realize they will not get those wages from any club.
I would laugh at you but we still have Lord Origi
Still??!!!
One more year on his contract, not our finest signing.
His agents are the presidents son. He’ll be fine
Horrible to him? His agent got a shit player €24 million per year. And with a buyout, he’ll get to choose his next club and get the inflated wages of a free transfer.
Sounds like the best agent in football.
Horrible? With this contract?
But why would he give up those wages? He’d take 3 years to earn one year of that on the open market
I don’t think it’s egotistical to be paid well lol, he hasn’t reached expectations though
So why would he want to willingly give that up? Seems pretty desperate from Juve
Man, alternate universe this guy was supposed to be our striker
He will be a decent backup striker at any club, no?
Has he really been that bad since joining?!
I thought he was a bit meh but this seems extreme? Desperate late push for Osimhen perhaps?
You cannot be serious
Scenes when Oshimen to Gala fails and they get Vlahovic for free instead
Is it true that he is on 400k per week?
12m net
Damn. What a sad end.
Man they really outbid Arsenal. I dont know if Arsenal fans should be happy or sad we got outbid for him.
I like to think he could have made a big difference for us but I dont know.
We should be happy. Who knows what would have happened if he joined us, but what we do know is how he is at Juve, and that he is a big man with the touch of a fridge and the strength of an empty bin trying to stand against the wind. He has awful control and can be easily bullied off the ball by players smaller than him which is not a trait you can have as a striker, especially if you want to play in the PL.
Would these issues have existed had he joined Arsenal when we went for him? Who knows. In terms of his career, it seems that he made the wrong choice BUT financially, he didn't. I don't think we match what Juve gave him in wages.
He would’ve been better for you. As soon as he joined Juve, Allegri stopped trying to score and would park the bus expecting Dusan to create the goal needed for a 1-0. There was article in Athletic about how Juve attacking numbers fell off a cliff.
Fio fucked over Juve so many times lol
Arteta licking his lips right now.
Lololol. He loved them, they were his childhood club.
Should’ve came to Arsenal smh
Hell no, we dodged a bullet there… I’m happy he choose Jeventus over Arsenal
And that’s the reason kids footballers need to think long and hard about the next steps in their careers. This dude would be flying at arsenal. He chose the wrong club. That’s it. It will be downhill from here.
Would Arsenal pay him 400k a week? If not maybe he made a right call!
His contract expires in 1 year.
He is earning about 20 million euros in the last year of his contract.
Juventus can pay him maybe 70% of that (14 mil euros) to terminate the contract. His agent probably agree to that.
Vlahovic will break even if he can find a team to pay him 6 millions euro for 1 year. I am sure there will be taker willing to gambling for 1 year who need a back up striker.
Welcome to Al Hilal soon probably (please stay the fuck away from Milan don't do it Tare)
He’s coming to MLS to rebrand lol
I cannot believe this guy is still only 25.
Crazy that they can't sell a 25 year old, what the hell
whats crazier to me is that they are proposing to terminate the contract of a guy they paid 85m only 2 years ago
thats like the worst deal in the history of deals, maybe ever
Ye the management post Marotta were amateurs. Honestly i have no clue how Paratici managed to do decent in Spurs.
Paratici’s eye for talent is good. I do think Vlahovic is a talented player. If he’d moved for half the salary & half the fee nobody would be having this discussion. 43 goals in just over 100 games is a good return (only 69 starts)
The problem is absolutely absurd contract & signing fee. It’s acting like a millstone around Juve
If my grandfather had 3 balls he'd be a pinball machine
He only brings players to the table, no financial discussions involved on his end. Levy would never.
3 years ago, just wait for PSG to do the same with RKM...
Gosh I forgot they paid so much for RKM. I guess winning makes people gloss over it. Kinda like Real with Hazard, they kept on winning big things.
Winning and deep pockets. Not like Juve are skint but they're definitely not as rich as real or psg
I swear Eintracht Frankfurt has so many players that play very well here, get traded to a bigger club for a big sum and then are very disappointing, especially forwards. Jovic, Kolo Muani, Haller and now the jury’s still out for Marmoush. Hope he’ll do well tho.
Next in line is Ekitiké.
Also Andre Silva. The only place he actually looked like a striker.
Haller is unfair because he got cancer. He was still alright for Ajax.
It's not really unfair. He flopped at West Ham, that was way before he got cancer. He was even good for Dortmund for half a season after he returned from chemo, it's only afterwards that he fell off
Marmoush looked decent in his half season for City to be fair.
Indeed. I expected him to flop because of Frankfurts previous strikers flopping but Marmoush played very well in City and looked like their best player.
No clubs swallows flops like the oil clubs. They just move on to the next target until they get it right.
Well, last year they paid £25m for a free transfer 6 months earlier, and are now trying to sell him. They’re not very good at doing business. But this is a new level for sure.
Mudryk has to be up there
Holy shit forgot about that
Pepe was 80m (Euro), and he was released on a free transfer by Arsenal so on that reasoning it would be the worst deal until (if) Vlahovic gets released.
But surely nothing will top the 120m spent by Madrid on Eden Hazard.
Pepe cost less and delivered more goals and assists than Antony did for United and mudryk did for Chelsea. He’s a terrible signing but he isn’t even bottom 5 for worst signings
Pepe was genuinely much better than a lot of 60+mil players in the prem. He was also genuinely never the target for us to pay that much. He's a good player, not 80m good, in a wrong system, in the wrong squad, while still shining more at Arsenal than a lot of flops out there in theirs.
We made no profit but that's just Arsenal-bad, as we couldn't sell players right, not Pépé-bad, as some teams would have really benefited from buying him.
24 goals and 25 assists in 89 games in his first 2 seasons. Hardly the worst player in the world and had decent contributions. Just massively overpriced.
He was bad but not the worst expensive flop. Even if he was purchased for 40M, he would've still been a disappointment. He simply couldn't fit in the premier league where there's less space. Decent/average player at best, wrong league.
He did do alright, but it's not like he's left and found his place in the world and proved the point. 17 goals across 3 seasons since he's left. One of those in the super lig where there's a ton of goals, and one in France where he did well before.
Manchester United letting Pogba go on a free, then buying him back for 80m qualifies.
Pepe scored 27 goals and provided 21 assists for Arsenal. I dont think you can compare this to Pepe....
Vlahovic has scored twice as much
Guess Juve should hold onto him then....
Vlahovic has also played twice as many games and is a striker (Pepe was a midfielder and by the end mostly backing up Saka). And his wages are 4 times higher. And he has fewer assists than Pepe in more than double the games. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.
In all honesty his goal scoring record for Juve is fine, his wages are just insane.
Nothing beats Coutinho
Coutinho
Sheesh I didn't realize they paid that much. With wages included that has to be worse than the Hazard transfer.
After we sold Pogba, we have never actually made a profit on any transfer. It has been 9 years.
That’s blatantly untrue
thats what happens when ur on 300k+ a week, samething is happening to rashford now. No1 wants to pay those wages lol
Spot on. As a United fan, I am learning that those 300k+/week contracts are almost impossible to move if the player isn’t World XI caliber.
Both Rashford and Sancho would rather take those salaries while banished from the team than take a pay cut and move to a smaller club where they’d regularly play.
Same thing happened with auba and ozil, however rashford is much younger than them so a deal might be possible, but it will happen late in the window when united are more desperate to sell imo.
He's on €19m a year. After this stint, nobody is coming close to that so it's impossible to sell him.
Isn‘t he on ridiculous wages and that‘s apparently the reason?
Its not that crazy if u know the wage he got and how he looked for 2 years now... also his attitude is really bad.
He makes more than 370k ppw
I can smell a Utd transfer all over this. Don’t be shocked if they say, he has been offered to United
If he's willing to get paid like 100k-120k/week with bonuses maybe it's feasible but he's on Rashford levels of wages.
