To reduce the spam of reports regarding the same move during transfer windows we try to allow only one submission about each transfer saga per day. The submission in question also needs to contain relevant new information regarding the potential move, and not just being a "no/minor developments" report.

If there are important/official developments or new valuable information about a saga, we will allow extra threads in the same day, but for the rest of minor news please just comment them as a reply to this comment. Please help us reporting unnecessary threads for being duplicates.

It's more about what the sporting goals could be to justify 75m. You don't pay that much to win the Turkish league, and it's not like this signing will help them win the champions league

No offense, even if he is good paying that much money while the goal isn't beyond winning the league (Where the league money isn't that great either) isn't a good decision especially if there is no guarantee it won't create imbalance for club's financial in future.

Trust me, we Serie A fans have seen many cases like this where we ended up with financial disaster for years to come..

It’s a bit of a win-win for both us and him though. He’s a good player, decent G/A output, versatile etc but relies heavily on his work rate and we expect that to fall off in the next year or two as he reaches 30. We’re not giving him another contract, his last chance to get the bag and our second last or last chance to make some money off him.

We don't know his actual wage and how much of it is incentivized.

Regardless, Bayern paid way more than that to all of Coman, Gnabry, and Sane, all of whom Lucho is better than.

That wage seems fine to you, but comparative to others at his position, he is objectively underpaid.

JumpingDeer26
:c_Liverpool:

Yea I mean he truly is underpaid for his role, and the only way he's going to get what he deserves is with a big move. So it seems a bit forced for now, but it won't matter to them if it happens

trasofsunnyvale
:Liverpool:

18 G+A in his best season production wise with us, and more like 12 or 14 G+A a season in his other seasons, is not underpaid at £140k/week.

Konate on like £70k/week is what underpaid looks like, not Diaz on twice as much.

JumpingDeer26
:c_Liverpool:

Well he's been on 70k for a lot of his time here, so I think he's been trying to get a big pay day ever since

trasofsunnyvale
:Liverpool:

Diaz? According to whom? It was recently cleared up that those reports about his ultra low salary were false. He didn't magically get a raise this year without renegotiating, and I don't believe it was said that the £140k/week salary was down to all bonuses

JumpingDeer26
:c_Liverpool:

What did these reports say exactly? We are known for having super incentives based salaries, it's possible he hit the incentives this season with the league win, while his base is the reported 55k.

trasofsunnyvale
:Liverpool:

It is possible, but that would be a wild bonus. It'd be nearly £5 million for a single-year incentive. That seems a bit crazy for a player of his caliber, but I guess it could be possible, especially if he had such a low weekly salary without.

The story I am talking about is this one: https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-reject-bayern-munich-approach-31974066. The salient quote is:

Online suggestions over Diaz's wage packet were robustly dismissed by Anfield insiders last year and it's understood the attacker earns around £140,000 at Anfield.

I don't see his salary being 65% incentives. That seems far too high. I could definitely see his salary being 1/3 incentives, however. I'm also not sure what he was making at Porto, but he would've gotten a substantial raise when he signed for us. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't think he was making like £25k/week at Porto. Generally, our new signings have all come in at high salaries as well, though they aren't all the type of signing that Diaz was (under the radar, kept under wraps, not a star player or established name in world football).

luca3791

I don’t know how you reach that conclusion. He goes in and out of form constantly, start of last season he was having a belter, then by December-january he couldn’t dribble past a wheelchair bound turtle, then he regained form and dropped off again. It’s been like this every season.

He had 6 g/a in the first 5 in the prem, and then 8 in the next 19 with 2 of them coming against the easiest win of the season vs spurs.

Right but that doesnt matter. It’s great that it doesn’t get to him and he still works hard, but “he works hard” isn’t enough for me to say no to 60mil.

Left_Note6389

With his work rate on the wing, Raphinha as a second striker to account for Olmo being made of glass makes more sense than Diaz rotating for minutes. He's already playing that role, that's why Balde is in charge of the entire left side.

:Real_Madrid:

I dont agree with this FIFA'esque logic.

Season is 60-70 games. You seriously want Yamal and Raphina to play 2-3 times in a week?

Times when you could have starting XI + 6 back ups that were fin with being bench option are gone, that worked in 40-50 games per season.

They are top athletes but they are still humans, if you will play 2-3 games per week + training for whole year, your body will give up fast.

Imagine Raphinha, Lewy and De Jong or Pedri will get injury - whos gonna play? Your academy is good but not that good, Pedri and Yamal are outliners.

I like the fact we have 5 players that can play ST. I actually hope for one more defender just in case Alaba and Militao wont be fit next season.

Valdrick_
:FC_Barcelona:

Sure, man, but dropping 80M on a 29 y/o rotation player is nuts. You spend 80M on the one or two players you will for sure put on your lineup in the big games, and that have a 6+ years career ahead.

Of course you will need more than Raphina and Yamal in the wings, but you have Ferran, Fermín, even Olmo and maybe even Gavi and one or two youngsters to fill in as rotation players.

Someone willing to join Bayern?

60m euros is just nowhere near our valuation and it would take more to replace him

Ok-Possibility64

This move makes zero sense. Only Barca makes sense and they can't afford him plus already have a decent left winger

Bayern are in for a shock if they think 60m euros are enough for us to sell

What did bayern think when we immediately rejected their approaches? That when they gave us a garbage offer we’d turn around and be like yeh, you know what, alright

He's going nowhere for 60m euro. We paid 45 +15 for him ourselves.. and we don't want to sell regardless of his contract length. Pretty sure the price is 85 or gtfo.

Looking forward to seeing him play for Barca, Bayern and us next season!

Bild and Falk are garbage tier for Bayern. Most likely another made up story

The amount of leaking to the press makes me think that he wants to stay at Liverpool but is angling for a better contract.

How much is he getting paid at Liverpool?

Seems like he just wants more money.

Why do people desperately want this guy? He's a top player but too inconsistent by half.

Bayern is not this stupid to pay this much for a player that only has a handful of decent games per season.

Damn, why does he want to leave Liverpool?

:Liverpool:

Apparently he’s upset Liverpool won’t offer him a contract and apparently Liverpool have gone back on their word multiple times. I don’t really believe that though.

I think we just don’t want to give him the contract he wants but we also aren’t really interested in selling him so he’s kinda just stuck. By the time his current contract is up he will be 30 and less of a chance at a big payday

Sell him and buy Rodrygo at this point

He wants a better wage and hence will go anywhere that improves on his 50k/wk which makes sense for him and we dont want to give him a new deal because of his age but also want to keep him because his salary is so reasonable. His agent fucked it but I think this gets a bit messy.

Bit gutted to see Diaz leave the premier league. That price seems optimistic, but I suppose he ain't getting younger.
