Shame, was hoping he’d do a B2B DJ set with David Guetta at ADE this year, they’d have brought about world peace!

That clip of him paying tribute to George Floyd with some random EDM lives rent free in my head

It still brings me to tears of laughter till this day - there’s edited versions but the original clip will never be topped due to the sheer absurdity of the situation.

And of course Arsenal legend Robert Pires is then on video in the background dancing with his partner at home to the song.

Honestly the one where they edited in the Hamster Dance as the song was the first one I saw and it was incredible

In a heartbeat. He’s still a solid player and England international (for now). The experience he’d bring to the team would be invaluable as would his help with the youth.

However whether he’d fit our policy I don’t think he does and he can’t be playing every game.

Apparently he made himself available for us pre Ajax depending who you believe and we said no.

I feel he’ll end up moreso at somewhere like Forest (he’s been linked with Rangers a bit mind) - where he can still play in Europe. Sunderland won’t break a wage structure for him either.

Then again look what happened when we brought Defoe back. Waste of time and he was done. Rarely works out

They would be stupid not to, anyone who says he was bad hasn’t seen him play for Ajax.

Disagree. Leadership and guidance while still likely being good enough to get in the team makes him a no brainer for them.

you always need an old head. Ajax 95 had Rijkaard for example.

they need to survive in the premier league which is an extremely tough task. A player like Henderson just being there for his experience would be invaluable

He has no legs left.

:Sunderland:

Absolutely would.

His legs are a bit gone but he would be surrounded by younger and energetic midfielders.

He brings Premier League experience, which I think our entire squad has about 25 appearances in which Ian Poveda is responsible for about half of them and he's almost certainly being sold this summer.

I think just based on that he would be a good signing. We've got a lot of young players who could do with his experience and leadership especially when we will inevitably have a rough run, looking at our December fixtures and how many players we'll have at AFCON.

:Sunderland:

We were linked at the start of the summer, although it seems to have cooled off recently. Most were strongly in favour, although I do think our fans in general are very sentimental and like the idea of bringing back former players and managers.

I'd be conflicted to be honest. I think he'd bring a lot of very important qualities to the table - leadership, experience and work rate, considering we have a very young, inexperienced squad. But can't get away from the fact he hasn't really performed at a high level for about 3 years now and it contradicts everything we've been building for the past 3-4 seasons - young, physically quick and strong players with potential to improve. We've signed Diarra, Sadiki and Le Fee with Neil and Rigg waiting in the wings, it's difficult to see where he fits in. But I wouldn't be totally against it.

You know you can just say you haven’t seen him play in years right? Nobody is forcing you to lie about his performances

Brief-Detective8661

Really? I think he's been fine at Ajax.

Also, so far you've signed two midfielders that weren't alive when the Stadium of Light was opened. You need someone with a bit of experience in there. He's like the most obvious signing you could make in my eyes, even if he only plays 20-25 games.

I get it, KLD's wunderkids, but you can't just have children.

Question is also if he takes them. He seemingly is eyeing the world cup, and whilst Sunderland still gives him that option… there are teams in European competitions that might like him.

I have a gut feeling he could end up at Rangers

Absolutely no idea if there's even any links with them but I know from someone I trust Martin was pretty close to getting Henderson to come to us last summer, basically had personal terms agreed.

However the ownership decided to go for Ugochukwu instead when he became an option.

Not happening, he needs to live outside of the UK until 2029 to avoid paying income tax on his Al-Ettifaq money.

Sad to see him leave, genuinely one of our best players the last 1,5 years. Our midfield has to be completely rebuild now and that’s not easy. Would have loved to keep him one more year even with his salary, especially playing Championships League next season.

He'd have a second league title now if he wasn't such an arse about playing time and accepted a squad role like Milner did when he was no longer a starter.

Good chance he would not, as him staying probably leads to the midfield overhaul not happening the way it did. Argument to be made that him and Fabinho leaving when they did set the team up for winning the title.

I'm not sure he would - it's possible that one of Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, or Gravenberch would not have been signed in the summer of 2023 if he'd stayed.
