The Whisperers' War in S10 should've had more casualties

More characters should've died in S10.

Idk if this is a hot take. Ofc this is just my opinion, feel free to debate in the comments. The Whisperers' war did not feel like a threat. There were not enough casualties to make the viewer remember that part of the show. Ofc at this point the series had lost many great characters, and I think getting rid of Siddiq was a mistake.

But minor/recurrent characters could've still been killed off to add real tension. Either Magna or Kelly should've died in the cave, to give it real lasting impact. It would've been harder for Daryl & Connie's group to forgive Carol, but not impossible. Alden could've died on Alexandria's watch tower, gutted by Beta, referencing an iconic death from the comics. Maybe Dianne could've died on the battlefield against the Whisperers too, during the attack on Hilltop for example. And finally, the war should've ended with either Gabriel, Aaron or Rosita dying (only one of them of course), sacrificing themselves for the community or Coco. Preferably Gabriel imo.

All these characters were cool but imo, having them in S11 did not add much to the plot. I can't remember anything significant that Magna, Dianne or Kelly did afterwards. Alden had an underwhelming death in S11 anyways and Rosita ended up dying too anyways, but seeing her as military in the Commonwealth was cool so maybe not her. Gabriel & Aaron were great as well but part of the show is also having to say goodbye to characters that you love. They are important but not as essential to the overall story that Daryl, Carol, Maggie, Judith & arguably Negan were at this point. Anyway, what do you think ?

The final episode with the whisperers honestly would've been one of the best episodes ever if at least 1 main character died, but no, just some random from oceanside. Not even someone in magnas group died, it was laughable

I think they should’ve killed a few more. Some characters didn’t get much screen time in season 11 so it would’ve made sense to kill them off.

They had an issue in the earlier seasons with killing off too many characters, and Angela Kang dialed it back, albeit too much. From Rick’s disappearance to the end of the show, there were only 2-3 major character deaths (Jesus, Rosita, arguably Tara) correct me if I’m wrong.

I do feel like too many characters were dying in the early seasons, but Kang overdid it. The stakes just felt too low, where now they’re at an all time low.

Enid, Siddiq, Alden I’d all count as major

The walking dead has two issues they deal with. How to make the walkers scary and different and interesting ways to kill them. Then how to make up new scenarios for villains and how to killer them.

Fear the walking dead is way worse then the original show but you can tell they just sat in the writers room and went “frozen, radioactive, oily, kid zombies, cowboy zombies, high rise zombies, mass amounts of zombies, etc.

So we as viewers want a story that flows but that’s not how the writers are thinking. They just have an outline and shove shit into it.

The whisperers could have been even better if you found out exactly who the star was and how much he could have taken over and done a bigger war.

A lot of times the budget just doesn’t allow for more salary and extras.

And the writing gets sloppy. No way people would sleep in mass in one room. One of them dies in the night and everyone is fucked.

My buddy did a whole thing where in a zombie world he would move to the woods and hunt and fish. Each of his family members would have to sleep with shoes on or ankles tied together. Full leather body suits with spears and swords He also would have a speaker away from his house with kids laughing and talking that he could activate to draw zombies away.

Boy your group is cooked when somebody storms the house at night. Oh great they're all already tied up!

And how do you plan to fish with walkers constantly being drawn to your area? There's going to be a horde after a few weeks

I was really disappointed we didn't get Comics Gabriel's death, I thought we were getting to it when he got cornered in the tower before we get the Deus Maggina instead

It could have been another character, but I was looking forward to this death in particular, especially with the minor casualties we got, as you mentionned

Yeah that death should've been done on TV, but Gabriel was so much better as a character in the TV version that I feel like this death would've been underwhelming for him, hence why I would've liked Alden to get it and Gabriel to die sacrificing himself instead. Deus Maggina could've still happened with any other character, Jerry for example

Yeah same, even before the episode aired I was thinking to myself that him dying that way would be unlikely, but that they would just swap his death with another character like they did numerous times before
