So I’m finally going back to rewatch the show from the beginning and I’m sure this has been said before, but Jesus Christ Andrea is the most irritating character in the entire show. I don’t really understand her dynamic, does anyone know why she was even written into the show?
She seems like a pointless character and maybe someone who read the comics explain?
I'm rewatching and on season two right now. The scene where she's trying to be such a badass and accidentally shoots Daryl. Her facial expressions were so fucking annoying.
Da fck is this 😂
That's spoilers for the new Rick Grimes beyond the Walkers series
The scary part is that Andrea was positioned to be (like in the comics) Rick's love interest. I think they clocked about 5 mins into the pilot that Andrew Lincoln and Laurie Holden had -0 chemistry so I highly doubt they would have taken it into that direction. I personally think Laurie was miscast (Frank hired her before they cast Andrew Lincoln) and that Andrea as a character was not well written so a combination of those 2 things are fatal. She was hard to relate to and her actions just annoyed you - just pure annoyance.
Idk I know everyone hates Lori, but Sarah Wayne Callies is a wonderful actress.
Lori’s written in a way where I don’t hate her. Her choices are pretty understandable, and while she questions Rick’s judgment she’s still supportive, and while it was annoying to see her freak at Rick over him killing Shane her actions (and vagina) led to her husband killing his best friend she was upset and apologized for it in the season opener an episode later.
But I do agree that Andrea fucking sucks
Just basing it off the show, she tries way too hard to be the savior or emissary hoping to be the spear tip of change.
Mom said it was my turn to post this.
she is insufferable, always inserting herself into something.
Andrea only existed during the time period when the show itself didn't annoy me, so she gets a pass
It’s even more frustrating once you read the comics and see how they butchered her character.
I haven't read the comics. Can you write a comparison of the two?
In the comics Andrea is similar to show Carol. She’s a badass, supportive, smart, and knows how to fight.
I never had a problem with Andrea until part way into season 3 there's a clear switch up and she just becomes a fool
An absolute doormat. She rolled over for the governor and obliged to his every request and didn’t stand up for herself. So different from not taking any shit from Rick or Shane (or Ed).
I like her. Of course she is pissy her sister died the only person left in her world and now she is stuck with the group she doesn't even like
She should have been offed in that CDC center
Loved her, wish she didn’t die.
I don't like her, but hate Lori.
yeah i get it, andrea did test my patience a lot, walking dead had some weird character choices for sure
Andrea in the comics is amazing. Badass, empathetic, deadly as fuck and one of the most level-headed characters in the group. I don’t know why they turned her into what they did, but I’ve been raging about it for fifteen years straight.
You could edit out everything Andrea and the show wouldn't lose anything. It wouldn't even change much at all.
If she killed the governor everyone would be at the prison rn
Andrea was amazing in the comics. That's why she was even in the show. The show turned her into a totaly extraneous garbage character.
I agree. I know that people like the actress herself, but I felt like she overacted every scene. I know she received the part due to her previous work w/Darabont, but I wish they would have cast someone else. Her character in the comic was much more tolerable. Her arc was supposed to land her Rick Grimes, but in the series, I much prefer him with Michonne. I think that Andrew and Danai's chemistry definitely influenced the redirect. I could have never seen that play out w/Laurie Holden. I wasn't a fan of how any of the women were portrayed in the earlier seasons with the exception of Maggie.
hard disagree, Tara is the most insufferable, Andrea comes close when she gets with the Governor
What do you find insufferable about Tara? I thought she was boring but she never really annoyed me.
Lol. My favorite thing rewatching is looking forward to Andrea's demise. (Same for Dale & Lori tbh).
Yess 10000%
Andrea is a badass in the comics and less insufferable. She’s actually Rick’s love interest/wife in the comics. That role is given to someone else in the show. And she makes it pretty far storyline wise in the comics. But yeah, show Andrea makes you want to throw her off a bridge.😤
I haven't read the comics, but I've been told Andrea is an absolute badass and one of the best characters. They definitely did her dirty in the show.
She’s basically Michone there.
It's more accurate to say Michone evolves into the comic book Andrea. Sasha takes on some of Michone's characteristics from the comic while filling Andrea's sharpshooter role.
We deserved the Andrea-Rick relationship. They belonged together.
But then no one would be RePrEsEnTeD
Much as I don’t care for “woke writing” (done badly), the choice to have Rick and Michonne together was so far removed from Andrea’s character decline and eventual fate (almost three years, to be exact) that I doubt it had anything to do with representation.
