I haven’t been actively following TWD universe for a while, but I’m pretty caught up where things are. And what I’ve seen, things are again moving ultimately just extremely slow.
And this wouldn’t be a bad thing, if the showrunners were able to create compelling storylines but in my opinion, they aren’t. The only driving force of this show is the characters and I have my biggest respect for actor’s of Daryl, Negan and Maggie basically carrying this massive dumpster of mess on their back.
But every year we go on stretching this universe, it becomes more uncertain we will get our grand finale. Less and less people are watching these shows every year and what I’m afraid of, is that showrunners will run out of money and we are not getting EVEN the reunion of all characters which we would at least deserve.
I have no idea what’s the plan for the future of this universe, but I dearly hope they have one of these things planned: - Huge final zombie fight - They start to build up new villain group in one of the spin offs and the group fights against them
And while these both are concepts which have been rehearsed over and over again, I just would see it as a huge waste not to have final battle against zombies when variants are a thing now.
But in a way media, movies, tv shows are handled nowadays, I’m just kinda scared that we will in the end, get absolutely nothing, not even reunion.
nobody at the corp. level cares, just watch the slop and pay for AMC+ please.
Not having a proper finale was one of the things that annoyed me most about the show. It seemed like the ending of the main series was more of a setup for the spin-offs than the big finale the fans deserved.
The show and spinoff series could go on for another 20 years or more. The walkers effects and looks are constantly improving, and the showrunners keep coming up with inventive new ways to both use and dispatch zombies.
Rather than huge battles IMO we should be moving towards the entropic "heat death of walkers", a time when both the living and the undead have thinned out so much that survivors stop killing each other because there are so few of them remaining.
Since the creators have steadfastly maintained that there will be no cure and no immunity, the ultimate end of the series will also be the end of humanity, and I'd rather the show go on forever (or at least as long as The Simpsons) than come to that depressing conclusion.
I think it risks the demand for an animated adaptation that much of the fan base has wanted for a while. The more they beat a dead horse to grab every single dollar they can, the less demand for a fresh take on the series there will be later on.
They should have just ended Daryl’s show with a reunion of everyone that’s all anyone is waiting for
I see that as a most likely option still, just wondering how many seasons they will spawn before that happening
Bro the show ended years ago
I’ve now read the rest, I really think you’re getting your hopes and expectations up for things that have never even been promised to us.
There’s never going to be some “grand finale”, they will release the spin offs until they have so few viewers that funding gets cut and they don’t get renewed for another season. It’s not like the main show where they knew when it would end.
If you’re enjoying the spin offs then good for you, but there’s no way they will end in a way that’s going to satisfy you.
Yes, I’m aware? 🤨
Sorry I’ve added to my comment now. The title says they’re “risking the end of the show” so it’s pretty safe to assume you didn’t think the show had ended yet.
Haha yeah no worries, my bad! Should’ve thought the title through bit better. To your added part in original comment, yeah, wishful thinking from my part. It’s more about what I feel like the fans deserve, but life ain’t fair
