Oh they're "milking the franchise", oh where's the "rick and daryl reunion", Jesus just let it go.
The walking dead has gone and ended with 11 seasons, not many shows are able to do that. They wrapped up things nicely and it was time for spin offs, stories that can be told by characters we have grown up with.
You know I don't mind people asking for a rick and daryl reunion, that's something I think everybody wants. But asking the show to end? No more spin offs? Why not? If they make shows entertaining with just mindless fun or action, little mini stories (clearly what DD is trying to do) then what the hell is the harm? If Daryl wants to travel the world and complete a mini arc with different characters then why the bloody hell not? Why are so many people complaining and wanting this show to end?
I know many people still enjoy the spin offs, mainly DD and TOWL, but sadly the hate is louder and on the surface level. You can say the "writing is bad", but from what I've seen it's not. Other than dead city season 1, which is why I didn't mention DC yet. The reason I think DC (especially season 1) is not to be compared with others is because it's not a new story, it's the SAME arc we've seen with negan and Maggie for the thousandth time. Dead City 2 also kind of suffered from that, but overall better quality than season 1.
If nothing more, imagine if DD just turns into a show about reedus basically travelling the world. Sure maybe he can reunite into rick later on but why even end there? If norman wants to do it and it's just mindless fun then why the hell not?
I don't get if people will be happy but still want the show to end after the rick and daryl reunion, or will finally shut up, because if they do then maybe I should be asking for that reunion as well.
I loved The Walking Dead, if anything I was obsessed with it, however the whole comic page to screen adaptation of it was done awfully for season 7 and 8
The pacing of the show made it a chore to follow, one episode on one character, a main character would die and you wouldn’t see their loved ones reactions for 4 weeks, awful
In the main show by season 10 there were too many characters you are supposed to care about, AMC don’t understand less is more
Then now they have many spin offs which admittedly I haven’t seen a single episode of, it’s mostly to do with how they handled the main show that I’m just uninterested
Daryl carrying a show where he apparently ended up in France god knows how many years into the apocalypse? Not interested, “Book of Carol” wtf is that. It’s like they wanted to show Europe but had to shoehorn existing characters into it to make it interesting, just start fresh in Europe
Dead City? A show where judging by the trailer Maggie is still threatening to kill Negan every two minutes even though it’s 12 in universe years since the death of BLANK. Boy who cried wolf much? “Oh here we go another scene where Maggie throws another empty threat at Negan” (yay!).
The Ones Who Lived? Yeah would have been interesting but I’ve not heard a good thing about that show from people I know who watched it. Should have just grown a pair and killed the characters off.
Like I said, I was OBSESSED with TWD but they have dragged it on and it’s not like the writing is even decent to drag it on this long, let that shit finish. It is okay to criticise something you love.
You are saying we should let go Jesus?
Did we watch the same finale? They did not wrap things up nicely
How so? I think pretty much everyone agrees the final episode was a good conclusion to most of the characters and the story. It's like some people think rick Daryl and negan were the only characters sometimes.
"Pretty much everyone" does not agree.
AMC botched the hell out of what could've been.
And tell me, what is this could have been. This is exactly how it should have been. You're telling me Daryl going to France and finding out it's where the virus originated, fighting variant walkers and going john wick mode, then going to Spain isn't mindless fun? TOWL explained where rick and michonnes were up to, first 4 eps were gold, perhaps an underwhelming ending to the CRM which was built up for many years, but high quality nonetheless.
You're telling me Daryl going to France and finding out it's where the virus originated, fighting variant walkers and going john wick mode, then going to Spain isn't mindless fun?
Why should the show have been contained to mindless fun when the first five seasons, the Comics and the Games were all genuinely great?
TOWL first 4 eps were gold
Because they weren't mindless fun
underwhelming ending
Until...
Eh, the show lost its appeal to me when it became nothing but "people are the enemy" and the zombies were just kind of background noise. Give me the first 4 or 5 seasons all day. Then it was terrible writing choice after terrible writing choice. AMC always tried to save a buck.
I watched 11 seasons, and 8 of Fear. That was enough for me. I might check out TOWL.
Watch TOWL, trust me you'll realise that good stories and quality can still be delivered.
As for "people are the enemy", I feel it's always been like that. Especially after the whisperers, which everybody loved and was the PERFECT way to go. They just went bigger and bigger with their villains, ending things off with an entire community.
Fear is hot trash, I will agree. Don't know how anybody could watch that.
Fear, when it started, was better than the main show at the time. I looked forward to it each week over the main show. Then they brought Morgan in and messed it all up
Negan vs Bruegal, that's all I have to say. Yes, the spin offs can still create those holy shit moments that are super cool. I've been #TeamNegan since his introduction in the pilot series. I for one am liking the spin offs. The stories are still there to be told. And people still love the zompocalype setting. Just look how well The Last of Us is doing.
You like mediocre, never-ending, now-pointless drivel that only exists to keep C-listers employed by a bankrupt network, because neither party has anything else. You also find differing opinions unbearable. Got it. The rest of us prefer quality storytelling and will always be disappointed by the "creative" choices that led to the rapid downfall of a once incredible series.
Complaining about complaining never works. You want them to stop wanting the show to end/saying it sucks the same way they want the show to end. You're both annoyed by something.
Did you not read what I said
I did.
I'm afraid I don't understand what you're saying. Are you saying I'm hating on haters the same way the haters are hating on TWD? How? They just mindlessly spam under every twd piece of upcoming info "when will this show end" or "they're dragging this out". I said none of that. I only agreed to people wanting the rick and daryl reunion because nobody could NOT want that
Yea I can't stand that talking point. If your best friend becomes a drug addict and isn't doing well, you should maybe stop spending time with them, but you'll always remember the good times and hope they get better. You should not just tell them to look at the flowers and put them out of their misery. Star Wars has the most divided fanbase in history and they don't even argue to just kill the franchise
I personally haven't enjoyed much of TWD since Season 9, but I really liked Daryl Dixon, especially season 2. I want Scott Gimple to just step in, put his foot down and take control.
TOWL episode 1 is the only thing he's written since 9x5. Because he let's each showrunner "express themselves" without "ruling with an iron fist" which is why there's no continuity or consistency in the shows. I'm hoping for something good at SDCC.
Yo Lego Lord Vader thank you speaking some mad truth. Thank you.
I understand what you're saying, but you also gotta consider that some people just don't want TWD's TV rights to be run by Scott Gimple and AMC anymore, & they can't really be blamed for feeling that way. You know good & well many of the people asking for things to end are some of the people still watching for some type of actual endgame.
If anything, I HATE the "you guys still watch this show?" comments people make.
No one who I’ve seen complain about the spin-offs ever mention this though. In fact, it’s usually the same people who clearly hate the main show as it is so I really don’t understand why they’re still consuming this content if that’s how they feel.
that's true, but that's just typical TWD fan fashion. The telltale game fans do the exact same thing to their media. I personally still see people just wanting things to end despite always being caught up on the new spinoff content though.
Endgame awaiter here. This is correct, I cannot wait for it to end. I've been around since the second episode of season 1 watching every week waiting and I just want to watch it get wrapped up, I REALLY thought the Commonwealth was going to face off against the CRM but I guess 2 people who are seemingly invincible because they love eachother was all they needed for that
The writing has gotten really goofy for all of the shows (I can't say for sure Daryl Dixon because I was so uninterested I stopped watching the first episode of season 2) at the very least Dead City is hate watchable though. It sucks to see what Gimple and his gimper gang has done to the franchise
