Recently in this subreddit, one of the weightloss post made it to front page and got 100k+ points. Then another weightloss post crossed 100k. Since then there has been a surge of weightloss posts and we have been receiving many reports by the community that they are not liking this surge.
So we have decided to temporarily not allow new weight loss related posts for a while.
In case you are someone who wanted to post related to your weightloss journey, then we recommend you to post them in related subreddits like /r/progresspics, /r/GlowUps etc.
I wanna thank the community for the feedback.
Have a great day everyone!
Thanks for the swift action mods
Can we also ban fitness pics while we are at it
ban them from everywhere. mirror pics are sickening.
main character syndrome. send that shit to your girl not the internet lol
I just block people like that.
I was definitely not amazed by weight loss pics.
I think I can safely say that most of us are not subscribed to "BeAmazed" to see that type of content.
No0pe, we want to see posts like, “Man successfully crosses street outside of a crosswalk”
Thanks, they were becoming too repetitive. I get it, some people lost weight. I get the concept.
Totally agree, it becomes less inspiring when it floods the feed. Variety is key!
I was wondering what was going on in this subreddit.
Same
Felt like a fucking ozempic ad in here thanks
holy cow, THANK YOU!!!
Thank you!
Great news thank you!
Thank you so much!
Much appreciated. It was becoming annoying, but I didn't realize it was reportable lol.
Absolutely. I was *this close* to unjoining and blocking the whole sub. I didn't know it was complain-aboutable.
All this just for internet points
Keep it off for more than 3 years without surgery, drugs, or developing an eating disorder. then I'll be amazed.
Thank God
I think it's great to lose weight and all, it's inspiring, but there was weight loss posts all the time and so often in my feed that the other posts were lost in the middle of those posts.
As a person who deals with disordered eating who sort of cringed and rapidly scrolled through these, thank you.
THANK YOU
Yes, I'm glad this has been done.
I support this. I'm all for people getting healthy (I lost 25 lbs so far this year myself), but this just adds to the overwhelming attitude that thin = healthy.
BeAmazed if they allow weight loss again.
Ok, but what if, instead of losing weight, I got really fat? Is that allowed?
Will I be amazed by it?
I did notice a huge uptick in the posts. Although happy it wasn't striking a similiar cord
Not a hater, I've lost 80+ pounds several years ago..but I was indeed wondering wtf was going on with the weight loss posts. Like..this isn't a weight loss sub
probably u shud see your doctor
Psst: just post them reversed and say you beat an eating disorder
Thank you. I scroll right past those.
Try u did Ok j
Can you do the same for the sobriety posts? There are plenty of subreddits for people who are getting clean or staying clean to get internet applause, it's everyday on here and it really seems attention seeking because this is an automatically subscribed subreddit :/
Funny enough, we tested something just like this for our weird gadget blog — actually ended up keeping it.

Yeah, makes sense, too many redditors don’t like to be reminded that they can choose to diet then look significantly better
ITS ALL STEROIDS! 🙉🙉🙉
Lame!
Still 50% of posts here
Dumb. If they get that many upvotes its because people like them/are amazed.
You don’t get it. People usually seek validation and applause for reaching their personal goals. Within a month, weight loss posts would be all over this subreddit, which is weird when there are dedicated subs for that. There is a reason why Reddit works better in compartiments.
They were getting upvotes but the new ones are getting tons of reports and downvotes.
We have a sticky comment on every post where we ask people to upvote or downvote the sticky comment if they found the post amazing or not. Mostly all the newer weightloss posts are getting negative points on that sticky comment.
From my understanding it's because after a while people in this subreddit find these posts repetitive because /r/BeAmazed is not a weightloss subreddit and there are other dedicated subreddits for this topic.
I mean to say that if there are few such posts, then there is no issue but when every post is weightloss, then that's not what this subreddit is about.
However I totally agree that weightloss journeys are indeed amazing and that's why we have only temporarily disallowed them to stop this sudden surge.
I agree with this decision wholeheartedly and also feel like it should extend to posts which are CLEARLY for self promotion. If it is for personal achievement, looking for feedback or such that is fine but I'm also tired of so many people calling themselves 'amazing' and redirecting traffic to their instagram shop or etsy storefronts.
It would be like a guy posting their weightloss journey and then leaving a link to the suppliments they recieve a kickback for referring.
Bad form, it feels.
We fully support this decision. There are plenty of subs available for dopamine and confidence hit. This doesn't need to be one of them.
You should ban all posts where OP is posting about themselves.

This subreddit has 8.9M redditors, how many complained? Was it actually etatolisticslly significant? Was it even 1%? Just curious... i mean, if it's getting to the #1 spot it's clear that it is engaging your community and they like the content...
Aw but the fatties were having so much fun screaming about steroids at anyone achieving what they couldn’t
WHO CARES if there are many weight loss posts? They are literally amazing. Let me guess: "Some people" in the sub are upset because it's not "fat affirming" or some nonsense. Bad choice, mods.
"literally amazing"?
Yes.
Literally.
Thank you. While I applaud these people for their accomplishments, I don’t need to see them in every other post.
What if I gain 110lbs?
r/reverseprogresspicz
What a creepy subreddit. One dude posting photos of his high school and college friends slightly gaining weight? I hate it
Yikes and most of them are, like, a normal amount to change from HS to adulthood
It's just one guy posting. Not concerning at all
I will “assume” that if you gain 110 pounds that you have either gotten married or have taken a lover 🤔
There are plenty of other subs for that
Adding my vote 'ere.
